You are sooo right about the whole song. The melody, the interpretation, the projection of his voice, the tone, the background voices, the lyrics are poem, the jazz arrangement... This is a masterpiece of I ever heard one
I'm a 27-year-old Filipina. But I love this song.. I envy the love depicted in this song.. The words are romantic and magical.. I wish my future husband would say these words to me or think along these lines while looking at me. I hope I get a love like that.. ❤❤❤
Nobody will ever write and sing music like this ever again till the end of time, am 75 now, been listening to this song since I was 10 in Brazil, in 1959!
Heavenly shades of night are falling It's twilight time Out of the mist your voice is calling 'Tis twilight time When purple coloured curtains Mark the end of day I'll hear you, my dear, at twilight time Deepening shadows gather splendour As day is done Fingers of night will soon surrender The setting sun I count the moments, darling 'Til you're here with me Together at last at twilight time Here in the afterglow of day We keep our rendezvous Beneath the blue Here in the same and sweet old way I fall in love again As I did then Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me Like days of old Lighting the spark of love that fills me With dreams untold Each day I pray for evening Just to be with you Together at last at twilight time

So lucky to have been born when I was. I was two here, husband born this year 1958. Can still hear my dad singing this song. I am not knocking the music of today, each to their own, but the songs of the 50's 60's and the decades following were unbelievable.
My grandfather told me that dis song was their wedding aniversary in the early 50s so sad because my grandfather died in 2018 then i told my grandma do you wanna here a music she said sure Then i played dis she was like a The Good Old Memories So sad to think Right?
They will never make songs like this one ever again. Such a shame, but we will always have these recording to enjoy. God bless all the music artists past and present. Play on players!
56 years young now and have listened to this for as long as I can fondly remember. My parents Fred a gentleman(Scottish/Italian)and my beautiful Irish mother Mary met and married in New York where they had my big sister Angelena but brought this glorious music back to Scotland where I was born. Beautiful music and harmonies to die for.
Can you imagine driving the back roads in the night back then and having that song coming thru your speakers and the windows down. That would have awesome
My father owned this 45 back in the day. I used to play it on the hi fi in the basement sometimes, and even as an eight year old was blown away. Beautiful music then and now.
I was 8 years old when this song was burning up the music charts. I have never forgotten how this man impressed me then as much as now. It's a jewel I carry in my memory that symbolizes true love and the talent to transmit that beautiful feeling. This guy has never been equaled.
Beautiful song I used to listen in my teenage years, through I nver knew its tittle. I listened it again on the radio of a bus five years ago, and remembered how much I liked it. I started lookng for it here, and found it three and half years ago. It is an excellent song reallñy worth to listen and enjoy.
i'm actually here because when hearing this on WV commercial reminded me of my childhood ( i was born in 1958 and remember my mother singing this all the time)
The Platters will always have a place in my heart. This group was introduced to me by my father whose a fan, he always wanted me to sing their songs when i was a kid and im trying to emulate the voice within, sometimes i got scolded if im mistaken since my father was my primary influencer on singing and im 39 years old now. I miss my father so much, he's been gone for 9 years now. RIP dad. We love you so much 😭😭.

Tony Williams had a phenomenal voice. I wish there were still groups that record these kinds of songs today. The style of music the Platters performed is long gone, they were just great.
Thanks to the TH-cam time machine, I can enjoy this performance recorded 14 years before I was born. It is just as wonderful now as it was when it was recorded. A beautiful and touching song!
Here I sit in 2019 and remember how great the music was when I was growing up. In my opinion, this was the era of true pop music, no disrespect. but tell me of a time when the music and lyrics were better.
I quite agree. Watched Emile Sande, live, last night on TV, couldn't make out what she was singing at all! Basically chanting one word. How is that music? No offense Emile, I usually like what I hear but that was abysmal 😳
This man had one of the best voices ever. His sound is smooth as silk.
Tony Williams

You can say that again.
yeah what happened to good singers in mainstream music, they seem to have all disappeared in the early 2000's
Almost.
_WandaVision_ comments are gonna trend here in the next few weeks. Welcome! Enjoy the wonderful music of the Platters.

Thank you. How did you know? 😂🤩
To me, this song will always be associated with the episode of the x files, "kill switch". A haunting episode, and a haunting song.
