    Drain and flush all fluids
    Rebuild carbs
    1cc marvel mystery oil in each cylinder as you swap out the spark plugs.
    Check and adjust valve clearance
    New points and condenser static timed to 0 degrees advanced.
    Crank over about 30 times with the kick starter letting it sit for 5 minutes between every 10 kicks to let the oil accumulate at the edges of the piston tops and coat the cylinder walls
    This is how I started my first motorcycle in 1985 which coincidentally was also a 350 four. However I had the yoshimura 4 into 1 pipe off of a 400 four.
    Great video, keep these classic bikes rolling.

      Yeah exactly! I did the valve clearance right after and also put some fogging oil into the cylinders ;)

      Your upgraded exhaust must have had a very nice sound to it ! I have a question was your 4 cylinder 350 faster than the 2. Cylinder CB 350 ?

    Had one of these in green as my first bike, back in the '80s. Thanks for the memories.
    Those 4-into-4 pipes are unobtanium now...heck, they were unobtanium when I had my bike. Pity they seem like they're rusted out in the middle. (It's common for condensation to collect there.)

    This video is all Gear Head Pornography can’t get enough of it. ! Honda went the other way with its 4 cylinders building the Big 750 first and then down sizing it to a 350 !

    It was running on 2 cylinders- had that problem myself with the condenser connection to the points - very touchy. When you get all 4 firing it'll have a nice growl and a lot more response at the throttle. My engine was saves from the scrapyard off the ally heap for 30 bucks, turned out to be a good rattle free motor and sounds so good I couldn't part with it. I run it every now and then just for fun.

      I own a CB350 four and I think you're right. Also most of the times the spark plug cables and the coils have gone bad.

    My favorite fluids- half Valvoline synthetic motorcycle oil for smoother shifting, and half Valvoline regular motorcycle oil for a better clutch feel. Valvoline synthetic DOT 3 and 4 brake fluid from a car parts store. Fluid Film spray from Lowes for the chain. Putting engine belt dressing on the grips and letting it dry overnight so they are stickier.

    I was there. When the CB 350/4cylinder came out. It was a dog compared to The CB 400f.They were considered a joke, a waste of money/the wife’s machine. The CB 400 was almost equal to the RD 400 calm and very highly regarded

    I rebuilt this engine after 25 years storage (on a 400). Re-start after 30 years an engine is more delicat than just a carbs cleaning an oil change, it need a complete disammenbly to check and change some parts , pistons are corrode, piston rings too, bearing,..... The engine could start easily but you really damage it and you will have some serious problems after. So in my opinion, you should open it asap.

    imagine the pain of changing the main jet over and over to find the right one

    • @jakehiggins5118
      @jakehiggins5118 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the downside to carburetors unfortunately :/ it was a pain trying to find the right size jets for my GS500, and that bike only has 2 carbs. I don't want to imagine trying to adjust the carbs on a 4 barrel carb.

    • @TahitianRider
      @TahitianRider  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Changing the jets is actually pretty easy, the annoying part is that you have to take the 4 carbs out of the bike or you won't be able to unscrew the float bowls lol
      But I now manage to install and remove the carbs in about 5min haha

    • @pudzian3627
      @pudzian3627 5 ปีที่แล้ว
