    Just got my 2021 JLU Willys. My previous car was 2015 Subaru WRX and then I switched to 2018 Forester which I still have. Wrangler is awesome ! Yes it’s more noise on the highway and I feel like most of it tire noise Firestone MTs are louder than all seasons. 2021 has no steering issue ! I guess it’s fixed at this point 👍 I got 2.0L turbo and manufacture manual says you can use regular fuel 😁

      Very cool. Coming from the BFG's on my Crosstrek the Firestones seems quiet to me. :) Awesome that your steering is solid and no issues! Mine really isn't bad thankfully, just a bit of vagueness. That's cool about the regular unleaded? That is the first I have heard of it. Have you noticed a difference MPG wise with super and regular? Thank you for watching and have fun.

      Yes I agree the firestones are much louder then my BFG all seasons. I’ve been running regular gas in mine with no issues, never heard about having to use premium gas in the 2 liter turbo.

    Good info here. What I was wondering. Cause I gotta get to where I can off road. Thanks!👍👍😎🇺🇸 Wrangler steering uses a recirculating ball steering box, not rack and pinion. Shines off road. JL had aluminum gears in the steering box, they found excessive wear on those aluminum parts especially when they heated up. Go figure. Prolly trying to save some weight and this happens. Think that got changed with JK. But yes, I think they had dampener issues. Maybe with JK and JL. Go figure some more. 👍👍😎🇺🇸 Thanks for posting.

    hi. just found this. hopefully getting my 2021 2-door willys soon. possibly this weekend. i live about a block from the beach, so I should be out there a lot. i also have family in Arizona and may take it some fun places when I visit them. will be back to learn a few things as this will be my first jeep.

      @@AZdroptop ordered my jeep with manual in july. as of October, they were still waiting on parts. searched dealers and finally found one because I had been without a car since July. settled for an automatic but don't mind the remote start. 2-liter turbo is a blast when you hit the gas. i like the 2-door for easier handling and parking, and I'm tired of having the "responsible" car in the family.

    Great update Rick on your Jeep. Glad you are happy with it and it is running just fine! Yes gas has gone up and currently has leveled off. Wonder what the heat in the summer does to your mpg when using the a/c?

      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Dave, hope you are well and staying out of trouble. The a/c test will be interesting for sure..will probably drop a bit. It has been nice to be around 20 mpg even with warming up the car now in then on the cold mornings.

    Thanks Rick for the videos on the Willys. I have a 2021Willys Sting gray as well. I have the 2.0 engine which is ok but I have not seen any real advantages in the gas mileage. I do pretty much only run regular 87 octane which the manual says is ok so I’m hoping mileage will improve, I’m at 1500 miles right now. Thanks again, enjoy seeing some of the beautiful scenery out west, nothing compared to central Indiana. 😊 Oh, and have a wonderful Easter!

      Thank you Mick very much. I absolutely love this color! I appreciate your posting about the 2.0 and didn't realize that regular unleaded is acceptable to use. It would be interesting to see if your MPG increasing with premium. Thank you again and Happy Easter to you as well.

      Quick question Rick. Do you have start/stop and if so what is your opinion. Mine is driving me crazy.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have the start/stop. Funny thing, when I heard the new Crosstrek was coming with it I was disappointed and now its on the Jeep. LOL I had driven a few cars with it previously as rentals and hated it and wanted nothing to do with it. Driving with it now it doesn't really bother me all that much, but it really doesn't kick in very often. If it did it would be annoying and I think and I would turn it off. Thankfully Jeep made it easy to turn off, but you have to do it every time you drive it I believe. I watched an interesting video on it from Engineering Explained the other day on youtube and if I remember correctly if you are at idle for more than 7 seconds then it is effective in saving fuel. Less than that and it doesn't help?
      With all of the pressure on auto makers to increase mpg I think we are stuck with it.

    • @mickjohnson2539
      @mickjohnson2539 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guess I will get use to it. I’ve learned to know when to turn it off during certain times. Thanks for your input. I now hear a mysterious beep for no rhythm or reason. 😀. I do really enjoy my Willys and love the one touch sky top. Have a good weekend and I look forward to your next video.

    Hey Rick, I remember watching your reviews before buying my own 2020 Willys EcoDiesel. I am getting around 27-28MPG average combined on the EcoDiesel. I agree, the Firestone MT2 are louder than a highway tire, but really not as bad as I though it would be. You mention a 31" tire. Do you have the 255/75R17? That should equate to 32.1"
    Great content & cheers from San Diego!

    Another great video! Question: I'm 6'2" and i'm concerned with being uncomfortable on a long trip. I can't tell how tall you are but do you have any issues with the longer trips for someone taller?

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Joel, I am just 5'9" and have a pant length of 32". If you have really long legs and a shorter torso it may be a problem, but it is hard to say for sure. From where I have the seat there are a few more clicks available to move the seat back a bit further. As far as seat comfort goes otherwise I find them to be okay. They are not the world's most comfortable seats, but not bad at all in my opinion. Longest trip I have done so far is about 4 and 1/2 hours and I was comfortable for that trip. Hope that helps.

    May I ask, is a 2 DOOR Willys Sport the same "ride" on the HIGHWAY as a Rubicon 2 door?? Meaning, will they "feel" the same (little jiggy, wobbly, wild is how a rented '22 Rubicon drove on a 9 hour highway drive). I will be purchasing a 2 door wrangler used soon, busily looking! Thank you!!

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not driven a 2 door Rubicon or a 2 door Willys, but I can compare my old Rubicon to my 20 Willys. My guess is the Willys will be a bit less wild on the highway given the less aggressive tires, but the one place my Willys let me down was highway driving. You need to make a lot of micro-corrections and the steering is just loose feeling. My understanding is Jeep came out with a steel steering box and it did make a difference in driving feel, but I did not have that one on mine. There are also aftermarket steering stabilizers that are supposed to improve driving feel.
      I recently traded my Jeep for a truck and it is so much more comfortable on the road.

    • @marcymurraylikes

    I have the 2021 Willys (2.0L I4) as well. Haven't noticed the steering response issue you talked about and my PSI is normally around 40. I was driving a 2018 Sport JK before I recently got this one. Also thinking about making a few videos in regards to it.

    • @AZdroptop

      If you are on the freeway some over 400 is not a problem. I have averaged 21 over the 12,000 miles I have put on the Jeep in mixed driving, but of late I have had to commute a couple weeks a month and have been getting 23 mpg in stop and go traffic.
