English is the national language of Ghana. However, they can have a very thick accent which can be difficult to understand to non-Ghanians. Her accent is very clear to this American's ears :).
She should be so proud of herself - she could leave and make more money somewhere else, but she cares about the betterment of her country and is optimistic and works hard for a better future. Those people leave me in awe
There are plenty of people who act in a similar way in the states. Many people stay in poorer, rural hometowns or take low-paying jobs for the same reasons.
The thing is that the powerful stay powerful and get greedy. The poor who for the most part mean good sadly have no voice. Look at Nigeria, they have to IMPORT refined fuel.
I love this series. I think it should be played in schools to open eyes of children and it should be played instead of (or besides) commercials in TV to open eyes of adults. This shows world in better colors, in more realistic colors. People all around the world who just want to live, who have dreams and desires. It humanizes foreign people just like mass media dehumanizes them.

as a fellow dressmaker i loved watching this! i grew up near Ghana (in Cote d'Ivoire, so next door really) and people like her made my entire family's clothes and I spent my childhood wanting to be just like them, be an expert at this scary business of turning an already beautiful material into something wearable and even more beautiful... I really hope people like her (us?) stick around in the future because they are such a wealth of talent, creativity and resourcefulness! growing up, no one, big or small, really had to worry about going to the store and clothes not fitting right because we always knew the tailor or dressmaker could rescue us. this really helped a lot of people feel beautiful and comfortable in their own bodies, I'm sure. it's a shame that sometimes people in our part of the worls dont always appreciate the luxury of having tailors and dressmakers around. i wish her all the best!!!

Some of the dresses she made would sell for a fortune in high end stores. And that makes me feel kind of sad that high end stores earn millions of dollars by selling the simplest things and really talented dressmakers earn next to nothing

I really like this series. It shows people of more developed countries that they should be thankful for what they have. I'm German and I've never left Europe,so I only know a very high standard of living.
I really enjoy watching these short videos about the daily life of average people from "remote" places. TSoL should interview more people from places like Bhutan, East Timor, Micro/Polynesia, or Kazakhstan.
I think that South Africa has been the example for so long that people are ignoring that lots of African countries are doing much better, at least in the cities.

Do these struggles burst out the same optimistic personality as their opposites?(Their opposites would be Juliana Nortey, Madou Coulibaly and the taxi driver from Istanbul) Which scenario leads efficiently to Übermensch?

This is a cool vantage point but why don't you show the vantage point and lifestyle of the locals who are a bit more affluent and live a quality of life comparable to a westerner in a suburb. i.e complete houses,manicured lawns, tree lined streets working for multinational corporations and highly educated.?
Well Thats true but in many places(major cities of any country) the ratio(have/have nots) is the same. There is always more of the lower earning and thus lower living part of the populace than the contrary. There is also a big pool of the population in the middle. Even in the capital of a third world country such as Ghana(Accra) you don't have to be part of the of the elite to finish your education, work for a corporation and live in a house or apartment with modern amenities. Similarly in America you dont have to go to Philips Academy and go on to graduate from Yale or Harvard to have a comfortable lifestyle. In the U.K you dont have to go to Eton and then go on to Cambridge or Oxford to have a comfortable house either with modern amenities. However this is what the elite do in each country respectively. So i take it that when you say 'commoners' you mean something like the peasantry or lower classes of a nation. Hence when the series gets to London your gonna show the life of a single mother living in a '2-fare zone' 'run down' council estate with 4 kids and nothing but crisps and tango in the fridge moaning about being forced to work on the local high street at a low paying job just to keep her her benefits going. Then when you get to a place like New York City i suspect your going to show a single mother living in a run down ghetto with an active rat and roach infestation in 'The BBQ'(Brooklyn,Bronx or Queens) with few basic working amenities thanking her lucky stars for the welfare to work program and slowly saving up to start her own business one day...... and then portray these scenarios as insight on how the "commoners" live in these respective cities as well?
I like her accent. In europe some hipster doing same thing will get 10x more money... she should think about selling it to snobs who love hand made things.
