There will be many other nights like this and I'll be standing here with somebody new, there will be other songs to sing, another fall, another spring but there will never be another you. Pure gold
My mothers cousin was Sonja Henie, my sister looked quite a bit like her. Love watching her movies on winter days. I only have a few of her things but treasure them.⛸️⛸️
The Justice of the peace is the same actor who played Mr. Zumdish in Lost In Space, don't recall his name. Sterling Holloway the unlucky suitor also was the voice of Winnie the Pooh, can't blame Katina for not wanting to live the rest of her life with him.
My Father who was in the British R.A.F. was stationed there and he said the girls were like movie stars but they didn't want anything to do with the English guys but they went for the Americans because they had money.
If you watch One In A Million, the completion at the Olympics leaves one thinking of how far ice skating has grown. Love the way women's ice skating has grown. It's amazing but with all the triples and quads and the speed makes one forget the beauty and grace last seen performed by Peggy Fleming. She floated across the ice. Now a days it's speed.
Couldn't stand this movie. Found it really hard to watch through. Stopped quite a few times. She is so self-centred, manipulative and bossy. Heard Sonja Henie was a formidable business woman and very pushy and petulant in real life. She couldn't stand competition, and wanted to be the queen, which was alluded to very well in this movie. No wonder this movie is not mentioned in her bio page on Wikipedia in the blurb, because she is not portrayed sympathetically, more true to her real persona lol. She's so dumb - the guy begged off marriage and commitment a zillion times, and she couldn't care less - Sonja wants what SHE wants. Urgh! Now I need to watch the last 25 minutes still.... :(
39:08 Henie worship and 1:18:58 as well. This film was obviously made as a vehicle to promote Sonja Henie after her Olympic career. Note also the distasteful propaganda (promoting that girls make themselves available to servicemen 'for the good of the war') in the opening song at 2:14, which sets the scene for this B- movie. Check out Sterling Holloway's wikipedia bio: This poor movie is not even mentioned in HIS bio blurb either!!!

I am a singer and sing that song often.

Lovely, thank you for uploading this :-) PS/ I can confirm that the portrayal of the Icelandic people was spot on.
Absolutely delightful!❤😊
Excellent movie, I never new it but the Marines actually did serve in Iceland during WWII, the movie even got their shoulder patches right.

Fritz Feld. Sterling Holloway was also the snake in W.D.'s The Jungle Book.
Singer, Joan Merrill, at the beginning has a similar sound to Judy Garland.
A great song
Well done Harry Warren and Mack Gordon
Sweet and romantic.
She sings and even her speaking voice is very close to Judy Garland's.
Sterling Holloway the voice of the original "Winnie the pooh" 🧸🍯
Sonja looks very much like an actress in Elvis GI blues,an Italian girl working in a restaurant
At 1:13:46 was the beginning of the song by Elton John - Pinball wizard. Think about it !

Ég á kærasta frá Íslandi
We were stationed in Iceland on Keflavik NAS from Dec 80 to Dec 82 and never heard of this movie so I doubt it fairs well with the Icelanders.
I don’t like watching this woman skate or dance. Her form, and grace is nonexistent. However, her smile gets me every time.

She won 3 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALS for NORWAY in 1928, 1932 and 1936.

Don’t like the singing.
She is tainted.
