Many years ago my friends and I were driving back from a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. We were in an old hearse that my friend bought used and he had been driving responsibly when I cop pulled him over. The officer told him to get out and open the back. He said that he probably shouldn’t but the cop insisted. He opened the first of the doors showing myself and another teen girl. Then he opened the other showing 2 teenage girls in corsets and fishnets wearing heavy makeup. Next to them was my friend Randy in a similar getup (as Frank’nFurter) holding a blonde baby boy in a gold diaper (Rocky). The cop turned bright red, pulled his cap down and told us to leave. Found out later that one of the girls had pot in her bag and was glad she didn’t get searched.

I was out shopping one day and as I exited a shop, a guy parking his stroller outside asked "Im allowed to park here,right?".
Took me a whole five minutes before I realised he'd visited last week and had recognised me without my Uniform on!

Funniest to me? When our son became a police officer and my husband endlessly razzed him with every cop joke or movie that he’d ever heard or seen. First up was the old “do you smell bacon???” when our son came into our house. Which led to son threatening to arrest his dad for being a d-ck, and saying his fellow officers would have his back on that once they met his father-they’d totally agree with him. (We are an informal joking around sort of family, and there’s plenty of good natured teasing and ribbing). The guys especially love taking the Mickey out of each other like guys do. There have been a bunch of Super Trooper movie references as well, and he’s been called Officer Farva a few times (an obnoxious character in that movie).
I'm surprised my dad hasn't done any of that to my cousin yet.
Another tip: Do NOT do anything to startle or scare the cop in a traffic stop. They are nervous already and have a gun. Bad juju.

My manual transmission mini cooper's engine blew up. We're deep in the south, and in the mountains. So, friend gives me a tow...with a rope. We're careful, im maintaining distance, no slack in the rope. Get to my turn, my house is at the bottom of the mountain, just 40 yards away. We stopped, since i knew my car could coast down the hill to the house. We had just gotten out of thr car when the policeman we passed a few seconds earlier got to us. Told us that wasnt the way to tow cars, even though "i did the same thing when i was young. Shoot, we used to could ride in the back of pickup trucks." After apologizing and him looking at our licenses, he notices my house is 40 yards away...and he notices "youre at the top of this incline..." He causally mentions its illegal to put a car in neutral and let it coast down a hill to one's house within sight of a police officer. And then mentions he had "places to be" and to "wait until I'm gone to get your car off the road, its a hazard right here."
And with that he gets in his truck and drives off.
I had broken tailpipe on my car. Cop stopped me about it and is a ticketable offense in my stste. I, a female, sai "But, I just had a grease job and tire change on the car and it still makes noise." The cop let me go but advised me to get a new tailpipe.

My dad was good at knowing where cops liked to park to catch speeders and he once slowed down enough to get down from what would’ve been a felony speeding ticket to a misdemeanor ticket.

The joke is that they are U.S. standard measurements, but so archaic that they're only used in very specific contexts these days, if at all.

Because things are completely different in Australia when a cop pulls you over getting out of your car and meeting them halfway with your licence ready actually works out better. As I rode a motorbike, most of the time, I would take my helmet off and then meet them halfway and I got more warnings than fines. The best cop I ever met was a motorcycle cop who gave me a fine for being 10kmh over the speed limit even though he had clocked me at over 180kph in a 60kmh zone but as he said you did slow down to 25kmh going through the school zone. Yes, I was young and dumb but I never wanted to hit a child. I now only use public transport because I just can't trust myself.
I have one: at the end of my wedding reception, my dad took me and my husband home to change clothes and grab our luggage to go on our honeymoon. It was about 4 am and there was almost no traffic. When we were passing in front of a police station, the car suddenly stopped and wouldn't start again. It was a boulevard with a median. At that moment, a patrol car arrives and, as we were blocking one of the sides, they weren't able to get to the driveway. One of the police officers got out of the car and came to us. We were expecting him to say something like "WHY ARE YOU BLOCKING THE STREET IN FRONT OF A POLICE STATION!!" but no, the officer asked "Is anything wrong?" My father explained what had happened and the officer said "Please open the hood". My dad did so, and the officer gently tapped something in the engine, we never saw what. He said "Try again", and the car started!! We thanked him, and I was so surprised that I ended up not doing what I thought of at that moment: getting out of the car in my wedding dress to say thank you. It would have been a surprise! Anyway, my father drove off and we bust out laughing. Edit: the car never did that again, so no idea what happened.
Did I hear you right? Policing is not a good way to uphold the law and "abolition is possible?" By "abolition" do you mean abolishing the law enforcement and public protection system? Take a look at American cities with decreased policing/funding and their increasing crime incidents. It seems that anarchy doesn't work to increase social harmony.
My younger brother and I were driving down to campus one day. He was in a rush, it was the highway, no one else was around, so he was going over the speed limit. Saw the car coming up and pulled over without waiting for the lights to come on. Guy was cordial, figured out WHY we were speeding just by the parking stickers we had, and decided to just let us off with a warning. Still needed license and registration. I reached into the glove compartment for what I THOUGHT was the registration...
Officer: ...Sir, this is an EARLIER speeding ticket.
Me: Uh...oops.
Brother: Okay, now you're gonna have to arrest me for MURDER.
Nothing happened, just went smoothly and we were soon on our way. Just as we got into the town our campus was in, though, we just burst out laughing.
My dad once transported a guy that keep saying he was god.

Oh goodness, do I have a beautiful story for this one. I was maybe in second or third grade, we were going to go see relatives on the other side of the state for me, I live in the southwest corner, they live, Southeast corner sorry, they live on the southwestern side of the state, Ohio you must know, I was a bit of an idiot as a kid, and it took me a while to understand some concepts, quiet being one of them. So mom gets pulled over for speeding, and I don’t know who I thought the cop was, but I told him she was listening to her medical tapes, yes, they were cassette tapes, mom had a car old enough to have a cassette tape deck along with a CD deck. I was being only a warning. Sorry that last got garbled, I dictate all my comments, mom got off with only a warning. And that my friends, is how I got my mother out of a speeding ticket.
I was pulled over one real cold night, it had been snowing at Lithgow. The Police office hopped out of hi car and fell on his ares hitting his head on the car ( patch of black ice ) I got out to help him get up and see if he was OK. After I got him sitting in his car, he said thank you and Don't speed again, you are free to go.
Be kind to Police, don't get a ticket.

Little lost with the policing doesnt stop or reduce crime thing idk bout you but the risk of being arrested has stopped me from impulsivly doing alot of stupid things
OK Not a cop but had fun with one, I was on a mobility scooter and came up to a parking lot with a lot of guys and cops all were standing around some great looking bikes and cars having lunch when a cop approached me and asked If I would like an escort though, I looked at him and saw a guy standing beside this cop in uniform and asked "excuse me could you escort me?" turns out it was a gang going to a funeral and the cops were along to make sure there was no trouble. The guy (turns out was the leader) says "why" looking to the cop I said "to him I have no license, no warrant, no registration"(nun needed for the M/S) the guy called this out all the guys they laughed and he walked me through the parking area the cops laughed as they breath tested me. The Tension was broken and the gang got to see a woman on a scooter pass a breath test. Saw them 5 days later and they warned me of the cop stop ahead I had a can that looked like beer.
