It's BAJA Time over at SWRNC... Let the Wheels SPIN and the DIRT FLY! Thanks for watching and make sure to check out the Merchandise Store for some AWESOME SWRNC and DIY AUTO SCHOOL STUFF!
@@andme9408 Somehow that sounds familiar, after diagnosing and repairing 2,000+ cars for other people, my wife of 41 years still says "I won't ride in it or drive it". Somehow, under-mining a man's ability to make something work correctly is a women's job! But that is my problem! Men die earlier than women not because we have to because of our work, because we want to!
Not many people can relate to hear the first start-up on a project or taking it out for the 1st time test drive. Man what a feeling and excitement it provides! You guys are awesome. Pete I wanted to let you know that once I get my car road worthy, Moab is on my road trip list. Would like to swing by say hello.
Thank you so much Pete & Mini for adding our shop decal on your Baja and shouting us out. Made my day seeing this! Love my SWRNC shirt btw.. 🙏 Roof rack looks great on there! 👊😎
Just let you know I like all your videos with the old thumbs up button. I never comment but I've been watching you since the beginning even when you was on real TV. love your stuff man. it's educational and funny as heck.
That Baja is awesome!! I have watched your videos for over 10 years and I've noticed Pete finds his happy place in the driver seat of a vw. I wish you and Minnie the best you guys deserve it!!
I have not seen Pete smile so much since moved into their building in Moab, UT. Minnie, what can I say, your grin & smile light up the building. People for 3 miles had to close their blinds as it became too bright in their house from your direction. I don't know what to think about noise from rear disc brakes. Pete, with tire off, safely supported, place a big flat blade between the brake pad and rotor to make room. Then first start be making sure the caliper slides inboard and out. If real tight on one side, it could need shims or off center correction. Both fiction can touch but must be able to retract on their own just a fraction. I am not sure how the hand brake part is set up or why it's needed unless it's the "E-Brake". Because of angles and step hill action, you kneed a way to lock the brakes so it can't roll. On racing cars we called it a "Line Lock" but front only. And get the other seat & 5-point belts in so Minnie can get her behind in the bug! Cool day, perfect weather and sync those Webers to each other, then set idle. 4 into on. Take care and smile bud! You got reason too! DK, Omaha.
Pete make sure your handbrake isn't pre-loaded onto the left or right brake that could cause the brake to lock up smoke your brake and your clutch we did it at Yerington Nevada during pre Run had to get John Deere tractor O-rings to replace the disc brake caliper O-rings after we caught everything on fire then race the next day after burning a hole in the parking lot with 95 Octane and then repaying the motel owner for it when we got home all because the handbrake was adjusted toward one side left or right careful with those hand brakes they must return to a neutral position after actuation. That bug is a piece of history right there I know you curse it but it's a Mona Lisa
Yeah, Moab is looking nice, even more when you can have some fun in a Baja Bug. I think Minnie is eager to have Money Pit in full working order, but she might want to drive it more then you. You might need to check brake fluid lines, if they aren't pressed against anything or maybe they have air or something else in them. It certainly is a Money Pit, specially considering time, but it can be fun!
I love bugs,a friend of mine was a master mechanic, and machinist on VW,he recently passed away,he was a good guy,Whitey Worsham, wondered if you had ever heard of him?,he was quite the individual. Whitey had a shop in Fletcher NC and a huge garage at his home absolutely full of equipment, about anyone in the country who were into VW's knew him,he was a character for sure, they don't make them like him anymore.
Geeze Pete, my road king Harley has more horsepower that that thing. Really seems like it’s gutless. My grandfather had a Baja bug like that in 1972 that would have smoked that thing. Glad t see you’re knees are recovering Pete!
I love it ,what a great beast. Have always liked the Baja , we have 5 rc beetles , Tamiya sand scorcher, kyosho beetle, and the Blitzer beetle also a road beetle. They're just cool cars . Still have to build the monster beetle. Nice work mate, it's a beast and this year we must get some art . You do amazing work.
Glad u got it going pretty cool. Pete im curious will u get hit with special tax if they come in and pave your roads? If they do its gonna suck cause its costly
Now that is the perfect vehicle to go prospecting. You're in the top spot of the whole country for gemstone mining. Many deposits are right on the surface in eroded rock walls. If you find a red beryl deposit keep it a secret, they are extremely rare and valuable. For every red beryl found 150,000 diamonds are pulled from the earth.
DONT BE AFRAID TO REV THE CRAP OUT OF IT WHEN YOU WANT MORE POWER. VW MOTORS ARE VERY TOUGH. DONT FORGET TO RETORQUE HEADS AND ADJUST VALVES. VALVE TIMING AND IGNITION TIMING ARE EVERTHING ALONG WITH CARB SINC
Your blessed to have money pit it's sick I wish I had it's only money dude who cares enjoy your life . Your not have a uhaul following the Hurst when u pass ..
Starting price?? ONLY $10,500.00 and UP TO $$17,500.00 plus SHIPPING! Not mentioning the time and labor and small parts and pieces it’ll take to install it! No PROBLEM ILL ORDER MINE TODAY 😆😆😆😆

The first time I saw you smile in a while. Looks great
Minnie's best line; "Ah Oh, I am standing back, in case it blows up!" You are funny girl but honest!
@Dean Kay my wife says that every time I get done fixing something

@Dean Kay that's their positive negativity
Glad to see you both laughing and enjoying yourselves. Leave it to an old Beatle to bring a smile to your face!
