You are the best! i had this same issue and called ford tech support and they could not fix it, they scheduled me an appointment for dealer , then i found your video and it fixed it, needless to say i cancelled the appointment
Thank you!! Spent over an hour with ford support only for them to give up and say I have to take it to the dealership. Watched your video and 10 minutes fixed! Maybe ford support should watch this!!
Thank you! Ford gave me an estimate for $1200 to replace the APIM. I declined and instead bought one off eBay and had it programmed. I just installed it and had same problem. I discovered this was the problem and followed instructions and it works now! Thanks for saving me money and my sanity!
Thank you Sir. Just did this on my 2019 EcoSport (British right-hand drive model). Fuse box beneath glove compartment behind kick plate, 5 Amp fuse F11/F12 (Ford three-legged fuse). Pulled for 10 mins and replaced. Modem now shows serial number and works 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this!! Called Ford and AT&T and neither of them were of any help. Was told to make an appointment at the dealership who was going to charge a lot to diagnose and fix. Your video took me 10 minutes to complete and get my hotspot fixed!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video!!! I was having this exact issue (Could not locate vehicle) with this exact vehicle (2019 Ford Edge). While I was not able to reach the fuse I did disconnect the battery for a half hour (as stated in your reply to one of the comments) and it resolved my issue, as well. Thank you, again!!
Extremely helpful! Worked on my 2019 Ranger. Had to disconnect the batter to achieve reset since fuse reset didn't work. Couldn't find fuse location for TCU really anyway.
Thank you for the info. My Ford pass hadn't worked on my 2019 Fusion for 3 months. I tried this, and it worked perfectly. It's the same fuse in the same spot, but the Fusion doesn't have the access panel on the front side of the dash. It took some maneuvering to get up in there.
When you pulled the fuse for the fusion did it cause any other issues or did you have to do anything else when you put the fuse back?? My 2019 fusion moden just stopped responding last month and idk what to do..
@errickkitchin36 did you connect it to a computer to check for updates?? Im thinking about doing it today to try to fix it, the dealer want too much, my car only has 36k on it
Hey, would disconnecting the battery do the same job? I’ve read in forums that also fixes it. Just wondering if that would be easier if I have to do this repeatedly lol
Could the same thing be achieved by unhooking the battery for 5+ minutes? We are have this issue plus the car defaulting to fm radio and sometimes a blank screen. Happening all of a sudden.
The New Ford Pass app update - If you have successfully updated the snyc on your Ford and no longer have the app connecting. If the activation steps do not work as mine did not after running the new app update - DO NOT go to the service department. There is one more troubleshooting to do If you have the option to schedule a turn on engine. Set the schedule for the day you have the app open 10 minutes ahead (it won’t do less than 5 min) If like mine, the scheduled time starts the car it will pair the updated app with full functionality. I called Ford Pass and requested they add this to the troubleshooting since it is the one thing they did not do with me. I almost brought it into Ford to be charged $125 diagnostic for them to look at this issue and who knows what they would have charged if I hadn't asked them questions and realized what needed to be done. Again, if you have an option to schedule do so and it will pair all the other features.
Is this going to stop the freezing I experience with sync 3 on my 2020 ford escape? I always have to press and hold the power button and forward skip buttons to get sync to reset and back working for only a couple of hours then I would need to repeat this again after a freeze.
@CarShopTalk I drive a 2019 fusion and am having the same problem. I pulled the keypad fuse like you said in the video and it didn’t seem to solve the issue. Is there another fuse that I need to remove? Any help is appreciated.
Good video. When you pulled the fuse was the car off or on? And did you leave the vehicle unlocked? I can’t connect to my car via FordPass however wireless Apple CarPlay seems to work along with Bluetooth but I can still see my ESN number in the about menu.
That’s probably not the problem if you can see the ESN. The car should be off when you pull the fuse. Bluetooth is through the sync module, Fordpass goes through telematics (cellular modem). Two different things.
Thanks this worked, hand is a little scratched reaching in to remove and replace fuse. I was on the phone for well over an hour yesterday and was passed off to 2 other people . Came back and said the module was not communicating so I needed to take it in to a dealer. I looked on line for fixes and found several such as master reset, open door lock and unlock, none worked. Opened TH-cam this morning and your video was in my que. Great step by step and explanation. Only question is the updates I do not process the code reader and setup you have, will this update itself somehow?
Just as good as a three foot arm with four elbows and a monkey wrench.... Stay safe, Tim... Gonna try this on the used 2019 Ranger I just got... No ESN shows... Thanks
I tried to isolate the proper fuse... I took out two without success... I then opted to disconnect the negative battery terminal for ten minutes....presto!!! The modem was then listed. I then had to uninstall and reinstall the Android Ford Pass app. Everything is working just right... Thanks for the inspiration... Stay safe, Tim
@@kimberlyasebedo5708 7th row from the bottom, counting up, right side. Should be a 3 blade fuse. I just looked it up in the ford wiring book. It’s correct.
21B10 is the pcm software update for cam phaser rattle at start up. If it still has a rattle for 6 or 7 seconds on start up afterwards, there’s a second recall, and I don’t remember the number of the recall off the top of my head, to replace the phasers. It only covers free phaser replacement to 60k miles. After that it’s prorated / cost is split with the customer. If you’re local dealer won’t do it I would find another dealer or call Ford customer service. I’d do it soon before you get too many more miles on it. Parts have been on back order a lot for phaser replacement so I’d want a record of continued start up rattle below 60k. If it was me, I would probably call Ford customer service, that way there will definitely be a record of the complaint, they’ll call the dealer asking why this hasn’t been repaired, and probably have a three way call with you and the dealer to schedule this and resolve the issue. I think the phone number is at the very back of the owners manual. Hope this helps.

Where is that fuse on a 2020 f150?
Thank you for this information, Fordpass will now connect to my 2019 Edge ST after pulling the fuse and allowing the unit to reset.

Nice to know about just power cycling module.
on a 2017 ford escape SE? what fuse would I pull? 67 the Sync fuse location?
Do i need a stock head unit or the stock radio for my 2018 XLT 6.7 diesel/superduty?
