I lived in Schumacher from grade 1 to 5 ( 1964-68 ) It was a great place to grow up. I remember each child at the public school would receive a gift at Christmas because one of the previous principles donated enough money for that to happen for years. The town at that time had a hardware store, furniture store, grocery store, a couple of restaurants and lots of bars! When they re-routed the highway, everything died. So sad. McIntyre park was beautiful. We had many adventures riding our bikes up and down the laneways or chasing a fire truck,
Thanks for the memories. Moved down to Oakville in 64 last time I went back Home to Schumacher was 2001We lived on 4th 5th and 4rd ave as I remembered. My back yard was the bush. Best of times
I remember all of it from 1954 till1963. I have visited Schumacher & Timmins many a time until 2014. Plan on visiting again in the near future. My brother Frank lives in Timmins. I enjoy driving around Schumacher & seeing old &memories & the recent ones.

Was there a fire in 1963 when the post office burned?

Wow, I think that is my Aunt Elinor as a figure skater. Third from the left at 8:32 minutes. She would be 14 in 1939.
Thanks Riskynett!
I have always missed where i grew up until the age of 17 . (Schumacher)
