Coming from a previous store manager at footlocker... the way to get hired if you don’t know who works inside is to make sure 1) when you go to the interview wear your favorite sneakers. Managers usually have been in the game for a while and that’s one of the things we look at. So impress us. 2) make sure during all the questions they ask you... you always tie it back to the customer being your first priority. Trust me on that. Footlockers main priority is always the customer. 3) when they ask you what is one of your weaknesses/ not strong points... turn it into a positive. Don’t actually say your weakness. For example, I said 6 years ago “my weakness is that I like to do everything by myself and don’t ask for help. Cause I feel like no one will work as hard and diligent as myself.” Maybe not the best example but it was one I had thought at the moment of the interview. *if I think of more things I will edit the post* I hope this helps some of you guys get hired.
I work at Footaction as a part timer. Once you’re hired it’s a great job to have, money itself can be made at all times. I resell a lot of items to where I don’t even care about my main check from Footlocker. Remember it’s all about who you know, so don’t undermine anyone that works with you because someone who has it out for you, you can be fired very easily. It’s very hush hush but some employees backdoor shoes to stock X, Goat or people who buy straight from them. Employees can get dibs on most shoes but to a certain extent; 20% of all releases are for employees the rest are for customers. At all times employees have 30% discounts; and 2-3 times a year we have the 50% off on select items (only a few items are excluded though). If anyone is trying to get hired make sure you talk and show your face often to where the employees and managers know you (not so much to where you’re constantly in the store, but just enough to show you’re a good person and can build a friendship). However, to have a better chance at getting hired apply during November and December, most big stores hire a few new employees to work the holidays.

I used to work at footlocker and we got paid 7.25 an hour and 2% commission but the catch was that we only were allowed to keep our commission if the money gained from the commission was higher than the hourly at the end of the pay period. Also if we made our commission higher than our hourly than we didn’t get to keep both we only got to keep the higher. Biggest rip off
50% off months are generally called employee appreciation so on those months your limit is increased to either $750 or $1000 compared to the regular $500 . As far as first dibs goes on shoes regarding retros, yeezys and etc it’s entirely dependent on seniority first managers get first dibs then full timers and so on.

Because a person is more likely to buy when it’s in their hands.. another thing I did was tell them we had a deal going on.. a pair of socks were $6 after tax.. I would tell them it’s buy 2 packs for $10.. and they automatically think wow what a deal..

You forgot to mention that the commission rate depend on the volume of the store, also yeah while we get first dibs on shoes not necessarily because it goes from Manager to Assistant Manager to Sales lead to full time to part time, part timers go off seniority on who’s been working the longest there that’s even if cause we have to sell some of them not keep all the shoes to our selves

Footlocker just a hustle... not a real job. They don’t give much hours. The money comes in with dibs on pairs. Locking in size 9.5 and below on all Jordan 1s. Some of those shoes hit double retail pretty often. Like this year we saw a ton of releases... say you got 16 hours a week. $8 x 16 - $128 a week, taxes like 115. Then you get the shoes flip, for let’s say 350. That’s $176 profit. Which is $304 for working 2 8 hour shifts a week. This isn’t even calculated with the employee discount. $500 limit, easily make over 1k a month just having to work 2 days a week.

I worked at journeys.. some sales tips.. look at what the person is wearing. For example they have adidas on.. tell them “ let me guess your a size 10 and looking for adidas? They answer back “ no I’m size 9 looking for Jordan’s” they just told you what they want with out asking. While you go get some shoes from the back toss them a pair of socks.. why? Because a person is more likely to buy when it’s in their hands.. another thing I did was tell them we had a deal going on.. a pair of socks were $6 after tax.. I would tell them it’s buy 2 packs for $10.. and they automatically think wow what a deal..

As a person who currently works for FTL, when I got hired I had a rough time because I got hired during Back to school a year ago at a high volume store. You forgot to mention that the commission rate depend on the volume of the store, also yeah while we get first dibs on shoes not necessarily because it goes from Manager to Assistant Manager to Sales lead to full time to part time, part timers go off seniority on who’s been working the longest there that’s even if cause we have to sell some of them not keep all the shoes to our selves
Yeah I just got hired today to the biggest store in the district and she said it’s a good thing I started working now cuz back to school woulda been a pain to start working there it being my first job as well

Footlocker just a hustle... not a real job. They don’t give much hours. The money comes in with dibs on pairs. Locking in size 9.5 and below on all Jordan 1s. Some of those shoes hit double retail pretty often. Like this year we saw a ton of releases... say you got 16 hours a week. $8 x 16 - $128 a week, taxes like 115. Then you get the shoes flip, for let’s say 350. That’s $176 profit. Which is $304 for working 2 8 hour shifts a week. This isn’t even calculated with the employee discount. $500 limit, easily make over 1k a month just having to work 2 days a week.

Lil Alphatee whenever money is involved shit gets dirty. The managers know very much about the resell game.... they backdoor when the employees go home, or even just blatantly. All the size 8.5 and below. But overall, footlocker is good as part time, even with the dirty shit the managers do. It’s really not hard getting someone to buy a pair of kicks.
