Mezzo-soprano and vocal coach, Dr. Marisan, has several degrees in music, vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, and music business from the New England Conservatory of Music, Hugh Hodgson School of Music, and Berklee College of Music. She has performed in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and the Caribbean in more than 13 languages. Dr. Marisan loves all genres of music and wishes to unite people through song!

All this Tenor, Counter Tenor, English and Italian, and he is SITTING DOWN though this entire stunning performance. And his Italian diction and pronunciation is very good. His Italian is better than some of my relatives. My great grand mother is from Rome and she loved it.

Marcelito Pomoy is definitely in the elite singing bracket. He blows people out of the water. What is more amazing is the fact that he never ever had a real training and lessons in singing, he's self-taught. The more you react to him the more you will be in awe. Please check out his live performances in USA 2022.

Actually I prefer his performance at AGT, his version of Time To Say Goodbye. There is a point there there the transition between the two voices was executed so fast. The tonality of the vocals too is more theater-like.

One of the best reviews per vocal coach coach ever. You’re telling us what you’re seeing and hearing. Rather than criticising or giving supposed technical improvements. Everybody has a perception when they are listening to somebody and they’re all going to be different. What I see, here is a huge appreciation of music and of his vocal talents. The most important thing in singing, is how it sounds to the audience. The technical issues in getting there, interesting but the audience doesn’t care. Thank you so much for your review. Some other considerations: Marcelito has never had vocal training; he is singing in two foreign languages, (English and Italian) neither of which is his native language (he is Filipino); he is also doing this live, and he's sitting down! Not an easy feat.

This may be sacrilege, but I actually like the quality of his tenor more than Bocelli.
Marcelito is much better than Bocelli and Celin, but then again he is much younger,
Marcelito is self taught and has never had any formal voice coaching which makes it more impressive. Can you imagine how good he can be if he is coached? :D
I have watched Italians review Marcelito and they have said his Italian is perfect. I don't speak Italian so I don't know, but that's what they said. I love this young man! He is perfect to my ears!

I don't know if you know that Marcelito is self-taught, without professional classes and that everything has been very difficult for him since childhood.
Hugs and keep it up, it shows that your opinion is very correct. I've been a singer and I know what I'm talking about.
He has listened to the duet sung by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion countless times and has memorized both parts, this is the result of hours and hours of practice to imitate both parts. He is from the Philippines and does not speak Italian or English, this is strictly imitation of what he has heard. It is an amazing talent and always a shock when heard the first time.

You pointed out 2 different singing styles, 2 different registers & 2 different voices like soprano & tenor. What made it sound like 2 different people were singing was, his rendition in 2 different languages that were not his native tongue
He is a Filipino, whose mother tongue is Cebuano, a dialect in the southern Philippines & Tagalog. He has no formal training in music & could hardly engage in a conversation in English....
Great video. You made some good points/suggestion. I’ve heard other people say part of the song that he was singing in Counter Tenor. What’s the difference btw head voice & Counter Tenor? Listen to him singing the Prayer on AGT along with the Beauty & Beast.

Dr Marisan, I just watched your reaction to Dimash and then moved on to this. I am very impressed with the relaxed tone of your presentation, your obvious joy in hearing the artists and especially your erudite, knowledgeable comments. If I may, I would like to suggest an artist to you. The charismatic, exceptionally talented, young Norwegian singer/songwriter/ producer, Aurora Aksnes. My suggestion comes from her 2017 Nidarosdomen (Trondheim Cathedral) concert, which is, I think, an artistic presentation of the highest possible quality and the most perfect concert I have ever seen. The song is "Through The Eyes Of A Child" (th-cam.com/video/ncG9zTzsisE/w-d-xo.html). Aurora was just 21 at the time of this concert. I hope you can find the time to watch it, even if it does not fit into your reaction agenda, as I think you will be impressed with Aurora's vocals, lyrics and outstanding performance skills.
