I hate to keep commenting but even if you don't react to it, every Avi fan needs to see Pentatonix's the First Noel, Silent Night and Mary Did You Know.
Funny, I always think of Mitch as the lead in the first Noel. I guess they’re pretty equal but my ear is drawn to Mitch in that song and Mary did you know showcases all of them in my opinion.
When you get hit hard by Kevin it would be getting KOed. Maybe for Scott (because of the smoothness and richness of his tonal quality) you could call it a Butterscott. If you have better, please lay it on me. I have tried and tried to come up with one for Kirstie, but nothing has yet sufficed.
You will discover more of that wide versatility in Avi's solo work. From Fields and Pier where he harmonizes with an upright bass to He Don't Love you Right to Full Moon to the remake of Hey Ya to Change on the Rise and all the variety in between you never know what he's going to do next. It's such a fun ride!
@YourOnlineSingingCoach I know right? Fields and Pier was written before he left PTX and Kevin plays cello on it. He said Avi wrote the music for the whole piece. He Don't Love You Right showcases Avi's beautiful high range and is so .....IDK.....it's one of my favorite things he's ever done. You'll just have to listen. Full Moon is a meditation, a love song, a dream , Hey Ya is just a brilliant remake that shows his musical knowledge and imagination and Change on the Rise....well, nobody is ever ready for that one. And the glory of it is he just keeps creating. I hope he never stops
They also don't get enough credit for their videography. It's always a subtle enhancement to their videos. Here the color is turned down considerably to enhance the dark atmosphere of the video. They always use light, color, angles, and other elements to enhance the feeling. The hazy sky and sunset in Hallelujah, the added HID light behind the door on Sound of Silence, the bright, ever changing outfits and rapid scene cuts for Can't Hold Us, the bold primary colors with Come Along, and many more.
Love your reaction and I believe this song is an Avi's idea, because he was classical trained and he thought PTX could do something special with it and bam ! Second Grammy 😂 love Avi, I discovered him in PTX and he became one of my favorite solo artist since then 😍 you should listen to He don't love you right.... He's doing everything in it except for the piano... a masterpiece, gorgeous ! Thanks 😘
That's my understanding as well. Coming from his opera/classical voice major in college, he has a vast knowledge of the pieces that have been created for centuries, and it was a stroke of genius that he brought this idea to the group and to Ben Bram, their producer/arranger (and co-founder of the A Cappella Academy with Avi and Rob Dietz). He and Ben apparently did the arrangement together (as they did for "Run To You").
If you ever get the chance to watch their documentary 'On the way home', it really highlights why Avi left the group. Also, every pentaholic needs to watch their performances on the show 'the singoff ' season 3.
Recently in their Christmas tour, Kevin and Matt performed a DSPF - Reimagined with Kevin playing cello and Matt playing drums. Modern take too. But this one, this Grammy-winner is a true recognition of their talents in arranging and executing the arrangement
for more of that beautiful trained sound, find the Aha! Singapore fan video. Wish there was better sound, but it's actually not bad for a camera on a phone.
There is a much better professionally produced official version hiding under the title of 'PTX 4 5 Seconds.' It starts with 'Christus Factus Est', runs into 'Aha' and then into a tour exclusive version of Rhianna's '4 5 Seconds ' featuring a walkthrough the audience and a little duet between Avi and Kevin. As far as I know, no reactor has yet picked it up.
When you get the time you should check out their beginning......The trio were together from high school but Avi and Kevin (meat and potatoes) were added just before going on and winning NBC's the "sing off"
You should check out Voiceplay's, "In The Hall of the Mountain King." It's very much like this, taking a complex orchestral piece and doing it solely with vocals. It's definitely got a Halloween vibe, so a bit of the wrong holiday season now, but honestly, it can really be done at any time because the piece itself isn't holiday-specific. It, like this, is freaking amazing.
You NEEEEEEED to watch O’ Holy Night, with PENTATONIX, be prepared to be touched! And the live music video KISS FROM A ROSE. The best of anything I watched from them 😮😮😮😮❤
See if you can hear Avi in this “Blade Runner 2049” soundtrack, th-cam.com/video/z_JgOlGq6i4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TS_U8sagg2iMMr0D. At least two of his songs have been on movie and television soundtracks: “Change on the Rise” and “Song for the Thankful”.
Fantastic to hear that his voice and music are getting syncs! Do you think I should react to the blade runner link, or just watch it on my own? Haven’t listened yet just in case!
@@YourOnlineSingingCoach it could be interesting (he is basically singing sound effects), but IMO listen to this one on your own unless you have plans to make it through all of his music. I hope that you’ll react to all of Avi’s music and think you could start at the beginning of his solo work to follow his growth, emotionally and musically. He was in a dark place after leaving PTX, but used music to come out of it and has healed so much. Many therapists comment that they use his songs with clients, because he has such a gift in expressing himself. I love the singer-songwriter that Avi is and appreciate all of his original work. He has originals (and one cover) under the name Avriel and the Sequoias, before he was allowed to release under his own name. Some of my favorites from Avi are from this early time period. All of that to say, you can distinctly hear him on Wallace, but it was (literally) an iPhone recording that was added in to the rest of the piece. It is dark, but his voice is captivating. Avi has so many original songs (30?) and even alt versions of some of them (all are worth hearing)! ❤️
@@YourOnlineSingingCoach I think it would be best to listen to it on your own. It’s an instrumental piece, with vocalized sounds. There are areas in the track that aren’t Avi.
Pentatonix's harmonies are truly superb. Their beautiful acapella.. and special beatbox. I am listening to their songs every day these days. I really appreciate their reaction to the song. I’d also like to hear your thoughts on the songs of “Libelante,” a Korean crossover male quartet as talented as they are. I would like to request one of their songs, the duet “Cose”.
Kevin and Matt did a really cool cello, beatboxing, drum, and a little vocal version of this on their Christmas tour. It had cello shredding, a drum solo, and even a little drum/cello battle. It really made the show feel more than an a cappella concert. I don’t think there is a live stream version of it, but there are some fun fan cam videos if you are interested.
