The OST does not have the blindside version from what I can tell. The sound at the beginning is a combination of the preemptive strike and blindside noises.

LayHon0217 Ditto. As a kid, I spent way too long in the first 3 strata of EO1. (I was stupid and didn't know what I was doing) Initial Strike just became such a common theme for me. It was nice hearing it get such an outstanding remix.

Not really. By the 4th stratum, your party is hardened up enough to take whatever the game throws at you in terms of random encounters. I've always found the 1st strata to be the most challenging purely due to the fact that that's when you're most naked, void of abilities and with no access to Nectars and other useful healing items.
mm... you're right, when you think of it like that. i suppose those battles didn't stick in my memory because i couldn't help losing; my team was weak and i had sucky luck to come across those enemies. on the other hand, by stratum 4+, i did have the skills necessary to beat random encounters, and when i can't beat them - due to a worn down team or because of those damn blindsides that shouldn't have been too much of a problem - those battles stick in my mind a lot more.
Game Guy95 No, they were stand alone random encounters. They appeared on the 4th floor if I recall, and they were too OP at that point in the game. Granted, there is a stronger and scarier version that appears as an FOE in the 5th stratum.
But the first Etrian Odyssey's first battle theme was called Initial Strike. The only two battle themes that have the same name are from EOII and EOIII

Why is this called The First Campaign. I actually can't hear any resemblance to the EO3 First Campaign...
This is for the remake of EO2, and up until EO4 all the first battle themes were called "The First Campaign"
