- Welcome To The How To Farm Series. My name is Cole The Cornstar. I am a 26-year old farmer who farms 2,000 acres of corn and soybeans. Over the next 365 days, I will be documenting everything that happens on Cornstar Farms in an effort to show what it takes to feed the world.

We are still working on the mansion restoration. Once planting is over, or we have a rainy day, we will be working in the house again.
Cole I personally want to thank you for what you’re doing showing people what exactly goes into farming. It’s a physical and mental thing. It’s 24/7, 365 days. The sacrifices farmers wives and children make because their husbands and dads are out there farming making sure there’s groceries on the shelves at the grocery stores. I plan on watching every video. God Bless all Farmers and Truckers and their families for keeping food on the shelves at the grocery stores. Thank you Cole for what you’re doing. Take care and be safe. God Bless 👍👍❤️🙏🙏🇺🇸. You have a place to live with your parents. We can’t eat a home but people sure do need food. Again I Thank You For What You’re Doing.
Sorry. I thought it was a remodel. Looking forward to updates.
So Romans locked in the basement until it rains? I knew he should have let y'all take breaks!🤣
Thanks. I do really enjoy the renovation . You guys are doing.🏠❤️
You're a farmer, that is how it should be
I can't believe the number of comments attacking Cole for not focusing on the house build and giving us farming updates instead. IT IS A CORN AND SOYBEAN FARM! They need to get seed in the ground now. Priorities, people. I'm a city man and even I understand that. You want him to blow off a year of farming just so you can see the house renos? We will see a house update when these guys have time!
In June when soybeans and corn have germanized to the surface the Crew will have time for electrical and plumbing on the house ??(
Most of the comments about house series are satire
@@racheld8843 Just farm stuff? Is that what you call it. Show some respect. I am certain his wife and children get it. It would seem you are a bit slow.
If they don’t farm, they don’t make money if they don’t make money he can’t work on the house. Is that so hard to understand. And if he don’t farm, we don’t get feed the cattle they eat corn . Be nice people.

Cooper always stays out on the down low. You can tell Cole and Cooper are hard workers. Just wanted to say we see you too Cooper.
Yes. Props to the "Magic Mullet Man, for his hard work, and his mechanical talents. Cooper is quiet, competent, and devoted to making that farm a working success. That guy is a do-er. Runs in the family I guess... Love to see him, and Daddy Cornstar too. American farmers doing what it takes, to bring in the next crop... and also taking care of the whole Cemetery end of the Cornstar business.
Cole man I just wanna say. I bet your pops is so proud and happy he gets to work with his boys. It’s pretty cool when a family runs a business together. Thanks for taking us on this ride !!
Ya copper not his Worthless son
Being a 84 year old woman who grew up appreciating farming, I look forward to these videos. Thank you for sharing!😊
One thing I appreciate about you guys is if you have a failure for any reason. You own it and fix it, none of you are entitled like some people today. Sadly people think farmers are rich, they see shiny newer equipment and think they are showing off wealth. Faculty, farming is very expensive and a big gamble. You have no control over weather, grain prices, and expense like fuel breakdowns and unforeseen health care issues. This is what people need to see to inform them of the actual life of a farmer. You have spent half of your projected earnings in 3 days for the year. That's like a family paying a yearly expense for the whole house out of 0 paychecks. People need to understand that in full. Thanks Cole for everything you do for everyone.
Yeah, this is the kind of stuff that they need to be explaining to kids, prob about middle school (The financial stuff, I mean) just so they have a better understanding of how different businesses’ finiances work within they country they live.
Everyone knows, when it's time to plant or harvest, EVERYTHING else stops. Enjoy the knowledge you're being given.
Most people do not realize how hard farming is and its costs. This is an eye opener for a lot of folks.
Found you thru the house Reno, but this series is FASCINATING to me! Thanks for showing us how hard farming is. 🙏 You're a great story-teller no matter what you're working on it seems; keep it up! 🙌
The people like me who have been enjoying the farm content on this channel for years like me are pleased to have you join us. I am a farmer and I want to thank you personally for your interest in our valuable way of life.
Go back to Coles first videos where he takes us on a cleaning adventure ! Fantastic work.
I actually started watching this channel for the financial breakdowns. Cole has never shied away from discussing the science or the business of farming, this is just a deeper dive. It’s fascinating to see that he studied finance (graduated in three years) and he’s applying this knowledge to the input side of the food chain. It’s refreshing to see someone actually demonstrate that higher education actually has useful applications in “real world” situations.
We all in Massachusetts adore cole. And his father, their hard-working people honest people we need more of them in this crazy world. We love you, Cole corn star and daddy, corn star 💕
And New Hampshire as well, love it all Cole et all😊
...and I'll add...Momma Cornstar...Nave...Eduardo...Zeke ..Summer...Cooper and Ellie
A quarter of my bloodline is from there, so you may be bias!
@@ColeTheCornstar Not Bias. Just being honest as always.
His grandmother is from Mass. also. Found farming life so different from living in Mass
Cole, have enjoyed your channel for years. Cole you are a born teacher. I wish all young people could watch you and your work ethics. You are impressive and inspiring. Wishing you a great growing season.
Hoping you and your farm family are safe during the tornado outbreak!❤❤
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder!" -- Waiting on house videos is suspenseful! I wondered what would happen when planting/farming season began! -- I've been with Cole for a long time. Cole -- you make everything interesting. Nobody does farming like you -- the number crunching is phenomenal! Love y'all! This year is way different with 2 small boys greeting Dad (behind the scenes) when you get home!
Thank you for this series about the realities of farming!
I won’t lie, my favorite series is about the house restoration, but Cole is such a good commutator/educator that I feel like I’m learning a lot, rather than completely overwhelmed by a TON of foreign information.
I also really like the way the family members obviously respect each other and show each other grace and understanding when it comes to learning new things or other frustrating moments.
I started with the farm clean up videos and am now watching to keep up with the family members (and now Roman too!).
Remember this is primarily a farming channel first and 2 of the 3 house workers are full-tilt into the farming season. You'll pbly' see house-build videos again as the seasons permit.
Absolutely amazing people have to be told this. Are they 5 years old and don't understand the concept of time yet?
I guess you missed the concept of sarcasm. You are definitely a Trumper.
Exactly! Cole put the first remodel on hold for over a year. This channel is primarily about the FARM.
@@Morpheus187 are you dense or just have trouble reading? There are a ton of comments of people annoyed that the renovations are on hold. Cole himself had to leave a comment addressing people.
One thing I've learned from watching farmers on TH-cam is that priorities change daily on a farm. The overarching plan may still remain but the maze to get it done is changing daily. Never stop Cole. Keep slaying the dragons.
Like I have seen several people comment, I first stumbled upon this channel during the first phase of the farm mansion renovation. When it went back to the farming I was like, eh? But was already hooked on the corn star family. It is important that we Americans know what our farmers are going through to survive… all different sizes of farms and ranches… our food producers. Look at Belgium and France… we absolutely need to make ourselves aware and support our family farmers they are the heart and the soul of our food chain and big corp ain’t, people. Thank you Cole for using your platform to help educate us.
And where did God put Adam and eve when he created them ? In the garden of eden! They were to be farmers .
Sorry for those of you who are mistaken about the purpose and reason for this channel. This guy is a fifth generation farmer. The subscribers who have been here for a while CAME HERE for exactly this. For those who might have come for the house renovation only, that is a project on a house on the FARM. During planting season, hobbies wait and then as work slows down, they start again. Be patient please … work will continue on the house in due time.
The purple starlights in the cab headliner is super cool - good job Cooper 💜💜💜💜 I love it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Loved it!
business in the front party in the back yo
Yep, I agree with others, this is a farming channel first. If you are so in need of a house reno channel, there are loads of them out there. :)
Use muratic acid to clean the tanks with algae. Rinse well and use your personal protective equipment. Rinse the tanks thoroughly. Get the muratic acid at a Lowe's Home depot or Rural King.
...and as mentioned on Border View Farms(YuteToob) a video or two back...they repainted a white tank ...black...to eliminate algae growth issues....just sayin'....
Cole I just wanted to say how much I love that you didn't just skip the part about you and your Dad having a bit of an difference of opinion. I respect that you didn't opt to just leave that out and that as you recounted the situation you were extremely respectful to your Dad and still expressed why you and Cooper would like it done a certain way, aka there is a reason and not just because you were both being "type A". I grew up on a pretty big farm and my uncles were pretty much always at lager heads with my Grandpa...they were shall we say a little less respectful of one another, tempers would flare but somehow at dinner time after a very long and exhausting day on the farm when we all came to sit around the table and they would inhale whatever my Grandma had made for dinner, whatever had them disagreeing seem to be set aside and we would always end up somehow finding funny things that happened that day and we are a family who really loves to retell stories a million times over and without fail every dinner with at least 9-12 of us around the table there would always be a lot of laughing and that is how we would wind down the day.
🇺🇲🇵🇷🇲🇽😎 🌬🤔 I don't know what day you film this. But today is saturday, the twenty seventh of april and parts of iowa or having tornadoes! I can only hope that you all stay safe...
Who is this Cole guy? And why is he posting on "Romans home improvement" channel?😂
😂
😅
I don’t see a Roman’s home improvement channel lol I searched for it
😂😂😂😂
That's a good one 👍
According to my father in law, the harder you hit the touch screen the more likely things will work. 😂
MUCH LOVE TO JUSTIN!!!
We definitely miss him!!!! 🔨
One of the greatest small biz / farming series ever on TH-cam; interesting & educational. The culmination of years of work the channel documents. For the confused, how in h*ll do you think Cole makes the dough needed for the house? That’s the story: the old house was an asset deployed -and consumed - in a very large complex farming operation. Just want to see the “house work”? Then you’re one who needs to learn what Cole is teaching here.
The farm is going broke. The Cornstar debt is staggering.
@@bonzocleach2496 Many/most farms of this acerage have lean and fat years... as if being yoyod by economic factors far beyond their control. The banking/insurance and government "contributions" aside...allow for a level of output which when combined with similar sized farm operations in the midwest...keeps 'em planting/growing/harvesting generationally, thankfully! The various associated YT channels/revenue will likely ..."tide them over!"...just sayin'....
@@mmurphy2317 I agree the TH-cam revenue is going to help the Cornstars. There is no denying Cole makes good money from TH-cam. On the farming side they couldn't have spent all that money on infrastructure at a worse time.
I appreciate all the content, Cole! I am always learning new things about farming. Your dad is a gem! I understand how the technology can be frustrating to someone who for decades did a great job just by eyeballing things. Looking forward to more renovation updates when the planting is done. God bless you all with safety and good weather!
16hrs a day your 26 and your brother is also young thank god, I wonder how your dad makes it through such a challenging days. And the reward is your family gets to do it again tomorrow and farms do not have weekends off. Thank god that growing food for a living is so spiritually uplifting. Ray Stormont
I am not a farmer unless you count growing a few carrots in my garden farming but I find this very interesting and somewhat addictive. Keep up the good work Cole. 👍
Remember everyone, Cole spends 10 plus hours a day everyday working on the farm or the house, he then sees the digital video to an editor in LasVegas, if, he takes a few hours to sleep, eat, see his family before he posts a new video, cut him some flack. Life ain’t easy and it takes more than twitching your nose or crossing your arms and nodding your head to provide content!
Thank you, Fred!
Fred...are you tryna' tell us that this isn't the Iowa version of Bewitched!??! I'm expecting Aunt Clara to show up in one of the outshops real soon, and start bangin' and clangin' in an effort to get free of her broom closet!😵💫🤣🙂🙃🙂😆😁✅️🇺🇸👏👏👏👏🍹
I've been watching since Cole started clearing out his Grandpa's basement. TH-cam popped the video up on my front page and I've been watching ever since. I admit the house and cleaning up the property were my most favourite videos but I've also learned what farming involves and it's absolutely mind bending. The knowledge and skills required, plus the investment in equipment, the vagaries of weather, the costs of doing the job, including not just money but working in the dark and falling into bed exhausted - amazing eye openers for me.
Cole's family serve their fellow human beings by providing food, and Cole has educated millions about how this happens.
As on old lady the equipment stuff is over my head. I'll never need to know it and my eyes glaze over but I still learn that farmers need to know so much more than we realise. I can wait for the house stuff. I'll still keep watching. 😊
Good luck with this planting season glad to see a close family working together to make a good living for the future
Realities of farming not always smooth sailing
Thank you for explaining about your dad and the planter. It helps that as much as you may be unsatisfied with what's happening, it probably equates to the level of his frustration bc he wants to get it right and is doing the best he knows. Patience and caring help to make a tight bond in families.
If you ate today, Thank a farmer.
We couldn’t do it with out the farmers! ❤
Just took hotdogs off my grocery list . Thanks Cole. 😅
AMEN 🙏🙏❤️
I ate today and I’m grateful of all the work that goes into it.
Been watching Cole for years, I tuned out during the home renovation, his videos were a lot more energetic last year
OK, I am a 62-year-old grandmother from Southern California. And I am here for the farm updates! The whole reason I got interested in your channel was because of your house. I saw a thumbnail of your house like 5 years ago and was interested in seeing more about it. Even with that and the reno that has been going on that I have been watching also, this is FASCINATING! And I’m even more impressed at such a young age how much you’ve done. To learn how much you’ve saved making $10 an hour, the improvements you’ve made on the farm, your academic achievements, everything. So impressive, Cole - keep it up. 👊🏼
Well said Cole. Im smh at others comments. Blessings. Prayers stay safe.
I don’t know how you stand all of the rude comments on your channel. People grow up. If you don’t work you don’t have money to renovate a house. The farm will always come first. It has to so that he can continue with the house, raise his family, buy food, pay insurance etc. etc. etc. thanks for all you do. Love you guys.
While I agree it's annoying so many people are asking about the house when it's obvious he's a farmer and it's planting season, if you watched the last video you would see that he will be LOSING money from farming. It's likely the TH-cam channel is what pays for the House reno, food, etc. 😉
At any rate it isn’t our business@valarya
I'm 51 and it's number 33 for me in crop years I understand DC frustrations with all the new technology lol
Go easy on him he's trying his best
I’m having renovation video withdrawals 😂😂
Great series though! Nice that you can do farming and renovations simultaneously! 👏🏻👏🏻
Cole is the king of multitasking.
Ya'll are the best. Keep up the great work
I do love the house videos but this is a farming channel and love this series so far I have a greater appreciation of farmers and the work they do
Judging by some of the comments , I think some ppl expect miracles.
Cole is one solitary person ....he can't split himself into 10 different ppl .
He's a husband , father of two small boys , a farmer , a TH-camr , ...he does the majority of the accounts etc for the farm .
He is a person . He has to make time out of his busy days , to maintain all of his relationships ( wife , kids , parents , siblings , friends, in-laws and most importantly God ), not to forget ; eat , sleep, shower, pray , attend church and practice his Spanish.... and exercise.., he has many hats to wear ....give the man a break . That's just a list of things that Cole has shared with us ....there could be more .
It appears to me that Cole squeezes every second he can out of everyday being as productive as he possibly can ....yet there are still ppl complaing that they haven't been spoon fed house reno vids ....get a grip ppl . This channel has always been primarily a farming channel. Try considering the idea that Cole can't be in two places at the same time ....only human . I'm sure as soon as he is able to restart the house reno videos , he will .
Try asking yourself , how productive you are each and every day .....if you had to do everything Cole and his family does on the farm every day during planting season , would you realistically then jump straight into the renovations....the Cornstars have the same 24 hrs in a day as you ....he doesn't get a bonus 8 magic hrs pulled out of thin air everyday . Be realistic. Stop complaining.
Yes, I feel the same way.🎯
When you put it this way, I guess my day is usually pretty full!
Well said!
Don't forget to breathe every once in a while cole.😊❤
Paint the tanks with some matt black paint, key the surface first with a coarse sanding disc & then paint it & it should help cut the daylight & help prevent agae growth.
Lots of mechanical and technical stuff today. I didn't remember how to do it all from seeing it last year so I'm glad you did ! 👍
Thanks Cole ! Always enjoy your channel!
When the old man throws out the marker, that's when you just drive home Cole. He will get her done!!!
The rear main seal is cheap, the labor however is intense, I'm glad it lasted this long. The Massey just wanted some love.
Cole, i see problem written all over your face. You're in my prayers!
Wtf is wrong with you?!?!
Just a few minutes in and I’m really appreciating the new mic. I didn’t realize how much you were yelling before! 😂 Also acknowledging your “team” of people that are supporting you and your channel. It sure has developed and you’ve been open to the growth and changes. ❤🙏🏻
STAY safe tornadoes right now
Great first day guys!! I feel your dads pain with computers , I was born in 1971 and life was very easy back then. Lol . Now we pays stuff from our phone 😳🤯hahaha.
Cole, I'm enjoying ALL of the videos. I very much enjoy watching the house overhaul... but I enjoy the explanations of what it takes to make a modern farm run also. That farm is the primary money-maker for the Cornstar operation. It's only natural that the family's top priority is on preparing for a successful crop. You keep making videos, and I'll keep watching.
I live in Texas Cole, but I was born in Iowa... the grandson of a Farmer in rural Jefferson County. My heart, my hopes, my prayers, and my sympathy have always run with the American farmer... As they go, so goes our nation. May God rest, keep, and watch over the entire bunch of you, and your families.
Atlanta your working on farm issues the house isn't going anywhere it will still be there ❤
Cole I started with the house renovations but I will stay for the farming ones too. I have learned alot. Thank you
Good thing you cleaned out the tanks. Nice to see you all planting. Actually the shot of the grass by your house looks real good, I know you worked hard on it. House looks good.
On a car my rear main seal was leaking too. I ended up by the oem seal, and had my mechanic put it in. He really liked that it fit so well, the front they did with aftermarket, but they did the both at the same time. Yes those are two different vehicles and size of engine, but just passing it on.
Seriously enjoy the new microphone and you not having to yell lol great videos coming out ! Very thankful for yall 🙏 and yalls new editor ! Thank you for the great edits and audio
I absolutely love the Farm Series. Thank you, Cole, for sharing. God bless you.
Never realized that those of you making videos were required to focus on specific content simply to please certain viewers😼 I have never restored a home nor have I farmed, but I appreciate the hard work and commitment of you and your family. And Roman💪. So I can choose to watch your channel, or not, and not feel the need to dictate what you present. Thank you, Susan
I love the inspiration you must bring to the youth in this day. They don’t come like you these days, so much. So proud to see a youth make a difference every day and living his life to the fullest and most accomplishments. Great channel❣️
Might have to cover tanks or paint them for light getting into tanks while being stored
I think about all you do, especially with the rain and chilly weather we've been having. I'm in northern Iowa.
Surprised at the bigger tires on the sprayer.
I am in n iowa too! Grew up in se Mn on a farm then went to Alaska for 30 yrs. Farming sure has changed.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Great job with your new series on farming. Wishing you and your family the best.
Enjoy watching about the planting aspect of the farm..Take your time with the house renovation.❤😊
Just want to say thank you to you and your whole family for reminding all of us that there is still hope for America!
We need more house update videos! Cole, What you were doing with that house and what you already have done with the property clean up is some of the best content ever put on TH-cam! Keep on farming man! Just hopefully we’ll get more house update soon! Justin needs more camera time!! 😂
Thanks Cole For this educational.
Farming video. I have the utmost respect for you and farmers❤
I'm glad to hear Cole mentioning sensory overload - this is a thing for a LOT of people, many times more than anyone realizes. DC's doing great, as are Cole and Cooper. We deal with a thing, we get past it, we keep going even better for the experience.
6:47 Pull the hose to the side of the sprayer that is farthest from the semi-trailer at one time and you don't have to keep walking back and forth. That gives you just enough slack to connect the hose to the middle of the sprayer.
Never realized how much you have to do to prep the land for planting. Thank you for what you do.
Wow Cole have not watched you for awhile looks like things have changed change is good I will try to watch more regularly good luck my fellow Iowan
I LOVE the stars in Cooper's truck! How coolio. I enjoyed all the details of the video.
Get R Done…good series and helps us non farmers understand the process. I can relate to DC dealing with all the electronic settings….im still working to figure out all the features on my truck radio🤔
Cole, praying you and your family are safe through all the weather blowing through Iowa.
Needed! A cockpit like checklist in sprayer for next year startup. Avoids a year off memory loss..
1/2 a tank of water , a bottle of Dawn soap, a few times around the section sloshing, empty, rinse store, no algae.
Pilots type ck list for storage ,hard cards hanging in cabs.
I love your farming content! I remembered to like the video when you put your eyeball IN the camera👁️. I think your edit guy is doing a great job, it’s still feels just like you. Super funny and real. Friend nobody is 100% 24/7. One of my favorite things about these videos is it’s a “spend the day with me” vibe- so it makes total sense that there would be ups and downs. It’s what makes your content so honest and it’s why I enjoy your video so much. Don’t listen to the haters too much. I came here for your mansion 5 years ago and stayed because you guys are adorable and you work so hard.
Anger is all part of life. 😂 Being happy happy happy ALL the time is just weird and kinda creepy. I love the farming series!!
As a city girl I love to see the day in day out of the farm. It’s interesting to see where our food comes from. Thank you to you all
Hey Cole, those lights sure do look good in that heated shop! Throws all kind of light around it.
Hey Cole ur never neg on ur videos and we get it some of this just isn't much fun but got to be done keep on keeping on & god bless and amen to what you said
Though I really love the home restoration; I love farming! Seeing it in such a 'big' scale is so interesting! I have alot of admiration for our farmers. They are the backbone to our lively hood. Thank you Cornstar Farms!
This series is the best thing ever! I'm glad somebody is working to educate the public on how farms work!
You could put the switch on that large hose reel on a lead so you can walk with the coupler and keep reeling out. You could use a remote start switch I think.
Keep the videos of this series longer than 30mins. I love long vids! Keep it up!
Hope you and your family are safe after last night's storm. Thunder just started here in KC.
Thank you Cole. This is a fantastic series and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Good Luck with this years crops.
I'm older than daddy cornstar.. I can relate to be frustrated. Just remember why you have a chance to do what you do.
So good to be back on the farm
As an ex plumber the house work is not interesting for me
Love the farm content,my dream job
Those old Massey tractors are great!
Love ours
If you go to the motor side of the hose reel there’s a little knob on the outside off the reel and pull that out and it free wheels the motor
hope yall are doing well with these storms
Thanks for feeding us I hope you have a great crop lots of beans.
Although I enjoy the house renovation project,
I support Cole’s farming information sharing.
That’s his main “bread & butter”, and it’s rather interesting info.
T’is the season for planting.
Give Cole a break for god sakes. His priorty is the farm. If you cant deal with the farm videos there are a lot other renos you can watch on line. Coles videos were farming before reno. Farming is his livelyhood. So all you complainers need to shut up. he cant just stop farming cause you want to see the house. Cole I have watched you from when you started this channel and I have no complaints. You just keep doing what your doing.
The family plants people as well as crops, to keep the farm going, and the videos and what interests people has been a boon and the draw was only 40% farm, and that is filler to many.
I was praying for you guys on Friday the 26 of April That you were not affected by the tornados!
When fixed, I would love to hear that big old Cummins chuggin across the field pulling a root plow and/or pasture aerator. Allowing for better water retention, less compaction and more nutrition intake.
That old 903 Cummins needs to go to the boat shop for an anchor. An 855 will put perform it hands down.
That 903 is the worst engine ever made, even worse than the 5.7 chevy deisels of the early 80's. I finally after 4 major overhauls in 4000 hours yarded it out and put a 855 inline 6 into our tractor.
Thanks for video, its very educational. And no foubt labour intensive to produce....❤
Hope the storms that went through didn’t wreck anything!
This is a great series. I was always curious about the small details and expenses. Keep going Cole. It’s amazing.
