People always talked about how horrible it was I looked it up and.... Its really no worse than a Daemonhost Its bassically just, a Daemonhost, but it makes babies
Ehhh it feels out-of-place and unnecessary, like the alien seedbed level of Duke Nukem Forever. 40k is violent and horrible as a rule in its setting, but the daemonculaba feels like the kind of arguably mysoginistic "horror" that shows up for edgy shock value, trying to show off how icky and bad it is by how it specifically involves women. Like there are dozens of different ways I'm certain the concept and purpose of a daemonculaba could be executed that both better fit the setting AND is more horrifying.
I think Dragon Age's broodmothers pulling this years before I even found WH40k made me just neutral to the existence of daemonculaba. DA is nowhere as dark as WH40k, so it serves as a much harsher contrast - based on the grimdark 40th millenium I expected something much darker, there are so much body horror in WH40k already
GW took the idea for the daemonculaba from Frank Herbert's Dune, as the Bene Tleilax in the latter series has flesh machines called Axlotl Tanks that they fashion from women and use to gestate superhuman creatures.
I do not understand why people expect horror, including GRIMDARK where it's specifically a dystopian nightmare wrapped in a layer of hell for good measure, to be super clean and moral when the morals are "Don't be an Idiot" and "Dystopias Suck Ass when they have a connection to literal hell"
Like a bunch of stuff in WH40k, the daemonculaba is taken from the Dune books by Frank Herbert. In Chapter House Dune the Ixians have found a way to culture spice in the wombs of genetically modified bene geserite priestesses. It was just as creepy in the Dune books because they also used them for growing clones.
I believe the Daemonculabra were very much inspired by the Axlotl Tanks of the Bene Tleilaxu, from the Dune series, as they also are bizarre womb-like "flesh machines" made out of women, and used to gestate superhuman creatures... 🤔
Wes, I loved the bit of this video where you just sat and GUSHED about this story. Largely unscripted and off the cuff. It was SUPER fun just listening to you go on and on about this. Your enthusiasm seeps through the screen. Loved this!! You should definitely do more videos in this style(:
It's hardly the worst or darkest or cruelest thing that is implied to exist in the verse, I'm pretty sure that Slaanesh daemons and Dark Eldar would consider it pretty boring and uninspired compared to some of the stuff they do in a regular basis, hell, it's hardly the worst thing people IRL have written or drew art of, but it's just a specific type of explicit that people don't typically associate with 40K.
@@Tacoguy1000 basically anything related to sex, though especially sexual violence, is barely ever talked about in 40k. It might be implied but it's almost never talked about directly
Slaanesh will kill you alot quicker then the others. They dont mind killing you while having fun, they will just get another. Other groups make it a specific point to keep you alive as long as possible
@@Tacoguy1000I honestly assumed the same thing. But, the person who replied to you is right; It's implied, not necessarily given ever detail to. My messed up brain just added it in the gaps coz it kinda fit, but apparently that's on me 😅😂
It’s only really the “worst thing” because of the amount of detail we need more detail for shit like if you hear “nightlords skinned children” you will be like that’s bad but if you hear every disgusting detail it will be 100X worse than just saying they skinned a kid because he shoplifted
Ahahah, oh my god, this is why I LOVE this channel, yet struggle with nearly every other 40k channel. You are like the healthiest fan just... ever. Not just for 40k, just like... EVER. You never, ever ever try to justify/validate/defend liking something. You just LIKE it for what it is. No insecurity, no need to defend it as if somehow you're going to get picked for liking it. Just pure, joyous, honest love. Also, RIP Chaos Space Marine Steve.
@@Help_In_NeedOh idk maybe just tear off your skin alive just to make a nice piece of clothing for there armor? And if you're lucky enough they'll keep your body alive and use it for... something...
TBH before hearing about the Daemonculaba/Dead Sky, Black Sun story I thought the Iron Warriors weren't that bad when compared to the likes of the Nightlords and the Emperor's Children. The theme of factory farming; the uncaring cruelty rewarded by efficient mass production really does suit the Iron Warriors brutal and emotionless nature and this gives them a quite effective extra layer of horror different from any of the other Chaos legions.
Honsou was different from other Iron Warriors warlords because he was a "half-breed", with geneseed taken from the Iron Fists and not just Soulaka. You see this much more pronounced in the book he's introduced in, Storm of Iron about the Siege of Hydra Cordatus. He was broadly hated by his peers and even the men he commanded for that fact, which made him more willing to engage in supremely dark deeds to prove himself, one, and to also gain an edge on his rivals. Hence the Daemonculaba.
Everything of what Wes just said about the Daemonculaba sounds like a casual Monday morning in a Homunculus laboratory. Like a Homunculus just casually calls up Vect with a cup of coffee and in flip-flops and just reports about how he made an artificial womb.
I guarantee to you that if your average Homunculus where to meet Honsu then learn about the Daemonculaba. They would probably laugh on how Honsu considers it an “achievement”
@@jaxxchang-weinberg4684they might do what they did with Fabius Bile "this one has potential. We will nurture that potential and attempt to exploit it" but unlike Bile, Honsu isn't smart enough to pull one over on them.
A bio-engineered artificial womb made from a woman wouldn't even be a main goal. That's like a side project when the Homunculus wants to take a break from making giant flesh spiders with laser eyes, or pipe organs made of people who scream out clouds of drugs. And what? Only a single subject per tank? How wasteful! A true artisan would create a room sized vessel out of many subjects that can crank out entire companies at a time.
I really enjoyed this format! Especially the personal touch stood out from all of your other videos I've watched. I think the whole concept of the Daemonculaba just highlights how hard it is for chaos space marines to get new members to their ranks. It's quite a desperate situation when you look at it objectively. It's the outcome of an experiment that does the job, but still is highly inefficient. They didn't have a better solution, so that's why they took that approach and industrialized it. It's kinda weird that this rarely gets mentioned, even though it is pretty much in your face as there are a lot of casualties in the grim dark future.
Its definitley dark but there are far more worse things out there. For me personally, servitors are equal in terms of being how horrifying they are. But outside 40k, Procedure Montauk is WAY worse.
@@derstein3368 yeah but the one people will most likely think of is the Raping one And all of them only have 1 mission, which is to shoo way SK from our reality. Which personally makes it way worse than making more Iron Warriors Edit: Their reality I mean, forgot were all basically 001
Other books that gives insight into the POV of survivors of Chaos occupation are the Dan Abnett Books 'Traitor General' and 'His last command'. They feature a hole ecosystem of campy concepts of corruptions, but the best feature of all these books (including Dead Sky, Black Sun) is that they explore the fringes of unreasonable faith in face of unfathomable horrors and frankly a critical deconstuction of the 'good angelic human' like 'Bladerunner' did.
Kinda reminds me of the people-farms from the Beast-Rising-series. In short, Iron Warriors and Black Templars agree to a temporary truce in the face of overwhelming odds, which in an on itself is already crazy. They infiltrate a world held and actually civilized by the Beast Orks, used as a orky version of an agri world. And basically they farm humans. Take the worst versions of industrial farming and replace the chickens with human beings which have been so degraded and abused by this point that they literally are cattle. Their only response to the Marines infiltrating their farm is to open their mouths because by now they associate light with food. They don't beg for help or mercy, don't try to escape, they're literally reduced to the level of simple farm animals for the Orks to consume. If you get an Iron Warrior to administer a mercy killing, you know you're one sick puppy.
They were still conscious because at one point, Uriel walks past one and sees it’s eyes begging for death. They’re absolutely alive and conscious and NOT demons. I love dead sky black sun, it’s up there with storm of iron. Love those 2 books possibly the most of any other black library books. Check ‘em out if you guys get a chance, storm of iron proceeds dead sky black sun. Cheers
When I knew about the darmonculaba, I just thought: "well, hard times require whatever salvation you can think of". It didn't ruin my mood, it just felt fit for the Iron Warriors due to their style of warfare.
It's a great book. Easily one of the best 40K novels. I adore the humanity and the care Ventris shows to the Unfleshed... The skinless. Also how he and Pasanius are able to turn the renegades back to honour. Then the next book is amazing with how Ventris cares for the unfleshed after saving them. In Swords of Calth we see Ventris' fall from grace and so his change to the Primaris is a bad thing. There are a few sequels to the Dead Sky, Black Sun. On Ventris' side there's The Killing Ground that continues right after the DSBS, for Honsou there's The Iron Warrior. Then this story continues in The Chapter's Due and there's also a couple of guest stars from Horus Heresy.
I love it too! I also like how the Unfleshed ended up being such sympathetic characters, while at the same time, as Wes says, it's so amazingly over the top, and that's what makes it so entertaining. I was thoroughly engrossed the whole way through.
@@finalgirl640 To me Ventris' "hero speeches" are exactly what he THINKS he needs to do. First of all, he made captain while believing that another one was more deserving. He always leads from the front and until the Chapter's Due he did't even have a command squad (the new Primaris command squad is the defacto Swords of Calth). He took on too much and messed up fighting the Tyranids, as he believed that that as the captain running the defense was his duty. It was against the book. He's always been very vary of his position and rank since he was "grandfathered" straight into the program, no need to prove his worth. His ancestor died defending Macragge in the first Tyrannic War. So others didn't really see him as someone that had to earn his position. He's unorthodox but an Ultra through and through, humanity is important to him like it is for the Ultras or the Salamanders. That's why it's so tragic how he acts after all of this in Swords. Anyways, he has this need to believe in the good of people and second chances. This is why he saved the Unfleshed, even if he should have killed them and... Well, then there was the tragedy in Tarsis (I think it was) after the return from the Warp. DSBS is a great pivot in Ventris' life and where he grows into adulthood.
I'm not even done watching the video, and I gotta say: Wes: I love your content. Love, love, LOVE your content. Keep it up! Seeing a new video after a 10-hour work day was so rewarding. Please, please, PLEASE continue to make videos.
This man sacrifices his own sanity to learn and digest the heretically amazing universe of 40k. I feel like Wes will become legit Cultist of Chaos Undivided 😂
The last 5 minutes of this video felt more freeform and less scripted and I loved it, your funny personality and knowledge really shine through. Good job buddy
"Say what you will about the Iron Warriors being relentlessly evil. But at the end of the day, at least they care about recycling" Well put, Wes! 😂👏 Also, I don't know why. But the visceral part of 40k doesn't bother me that much. The things that bother me are the abhorrent cases of manipulation, betrayal, injustice and abuse of power. Like the simple case of an inquisitor who fucks up, but abuses his position to cover it up. Often in gruesome ways worse than what he initially tries to cover up! With chaos. Sure, it's bad. But also expected. With the Imperium, and specifically the Inquisition, the lines are more grey and blurry! And in true Grim Dark fashion. Morals and ethics are just cliff notes!
Wes, you are one of the best when it comes to 40k. I am not even too into 40k, I watch it every now and again, but your content is top notch. And I loved when you sat and kinda talked to us at the end of your video. Would love to here more of your personal opinions on different 40k topics.
Honestly, I thought the process of removing the skin was worse than demonculaba. They literally hanged people on ropes, stabbed hooks into the skin, and pulled, while the people were still alive, so it would streach, and killed them only after taking sheet long patches of skin. That is something Dark Eldar could take notes from. Edit. I admit to showing Daemonculaba to scare non 40k people into looking Warhammer Fantasy instead.
@@addison_v_ertisement1678 the point was to get them into Fantasy in order to save it before the end times. Sadly, it did not work. I even went so far as to hope Warhammer Fantasy was going to be 9th realm. Ever since fantasy died I refused to buy anything except books from GW, and since TTS died I stopped buying even those. Now I am Just doing it out of spite. That’s why Iron Warriors and World Eaters are my favorite chaos legions.
Don't forget the process of force feeding them disgusting nutrient gruel until they're so bloated they can't even stand, then starving them back down so they literally have to carry the excess skin in their hands
Another great video, Wes. I love how you considered the book as over the top with its horror a la Evil Dead. I also found it hilarious that it was only described in one chapter and nowhere else. Lots videos tend to focus on the visceral descriptions of the Daemonculaba that it kind of loses its charm.
I haven't read this but thanks to Adeptus Ridiculous I learned about this gem from this novel. “Uriel turned back to Obax Zakayo and raised his bolter, saying, ‘I will kill you now.’ ‘No!’ said Leonid grimly. ‘Let me do it. I owe this bastard a death.” Uriel saw the thirst for vengeance in Leonid’s eyes and nodded. (Skip forward a little bit) ‘Now, slave,’ hissed Obax Zakayo. ‘Ventris told you to kill me.’ Leonid raised his lasgun and shot Obax Zakayo in the gut. He smelled burned flesh and nodded to himself, satisfied that the Iron Warrior was in pain but still alive. Obex Zakayo raised his head and roared, ‘Shoot me again, I’m not dead yet!’ Leonid stepped close and spat in Obax Zakayo’s face. ‘No,’ he said calmly. ‘An oath was given!’ screamed the Iron Warrior. ‘Ventris swore he would see me dead!’ ‘Uriel gave his word, but I didn’t,’ snarled Leonid. ‘I want you to live in agony then die in pain when this place is brought down!’ Obax Zakayo wept in pain and cursed him, but Leonid ignored his pleading as he removed the grenade attached to the crushing machine that was nearest the Iron Warrior and slipped it into his uniform jacket’s breast pocket. ‘Don’t want you dying by accident, now do we?’ he said. Without another word, Leonid turned and walked away.
I only want people to know that Mikhail Leonid was a lieutenant-colonel of the guard, a real human being. spitting in the face of chaos and their sick perversion.
I personally didn't like adeptus ridiculous video on this. The way they just groaned and whined through it was so annoying. And bricky talking crap about violence towards women? And this is coming from a big adeptus ridiculous fan 😂
who doesn't love the Ultramarine books?! Uriel is one of my favorite characters, specifically because despite being a codex thumping smurf, he actually plays pretty fast and loose with actual codex "rules" and i love his character arc throughout the entire series!
I like the stream of consciousness explaining the book's plot that you had in the last part. It suited your humor style and made me gut laugh a couple of times 😂😂
The Ultramarine Books around Ventris and his buddy Passanius where my first 40k Novels to read and will always have a special place in my heart. The characters and stories are just superb, threading a neat line between humanities brightest and darkest moments. I highly recommend you read the entire saga.
I wasn't planning on reading them at first. Was just gonna read this one and be done with it. But now I'm gonna go back and start from the beginning. Loved these characters. Passanius is the best boy. Like samwise gangie with a heavy flammer 😂
I heard about this thing some time ago and it was one of the worst things I could have read about that day 😂. It made me question my sympathy for Iron Warriors in 40k (I actually liked them in 30k). But the idea itself might ruin your plans for dinner.
I thought this video was gonna be messed up but i think it's actually one of my favorite videos you've put out. I love b tier sci-fi movies and low budget Warhammer, especially the way you described it, sounds awesome. Definitely gotta go read this now.
Hey Wes! I just wanted to tell you that I've watched all your videos! And I started watching you on tiktok like a year ago! I've never heard of Warhammer until you! And now! I'm in love with the series! And am planning on getting the new space marine game coming out, and getting into the books! Thanks for igniting a love for 40k Wes! And... LONG LIVE THE EMPORER ❤
after reading „dead sky, black sun“ like almost 10 years ago, i couldnt help but to turn my entire 3k points of blood angels into Iron Warriors 😁 I love this book so mutch! Iron Within! Iron Without!
For real Wes, the sorta shorter stuff is great for when I'm smoking a bowl between gaming sessions or whatnot. I work 50 ish hours week, and the three days off I get I game, smoke and listen to/watch lore videos about my various interests. Your stuff is fantastic, but sometimes it's nice to get a Weshammer video I can just watch that's less than an hour ya know? Anyway, great stuff as always.
Wes, you made me laugh my ass off on my drive to work. In a video about the Demonculaba of all things. Your Honzu-Skeletor voice is so damn funny. I loved this video! Thank you!
I just walked over to my bookshelf and pulled out my first edition copy of the book, that i bought when it came out. I enjoyed the book, you are right in that it was over the top with the Good Guy vs Bad Guy, "I am a Space Marine not only that but i am a Ultra Marine, and you are a Traitor" vibe, But in all fairness this was published almost 20 years ago, so the entire writing style was different back then as well. You go back far enough and there is a good chance that i have read and still own the novel you are basing one lore video off of such as this lol. Another great video
Should definitely save this Story Time for Halloween, but mix it up and add some of that Scary Movie Night Fun and Shlock to it, with funny voices and everything! A True Halloween Night Special!
You gotta carry on with the Dark Urge, the way it opens up in the story is amazing and if you like to play a hero character, resisting the dark urge is really rewarding
I've had a few people tell me you can resist the impulses you get, and that there's a way to cheese it so you don't end up killing the bard lady. I'm going to have to look up a guide on how to play it this way, but I do really want to do it. I just can't bring myself to kill the characters I've gotten attached to. They're all so good 😅🥲
11 months late, but I have to say, this is one of my favorite W40k lore videos so far. I like how you just let the book take you on a campy ride without taking it too seriously; and when you think about it, isn't W40k fundamentally camp gone wild? This take is incredibly meta and I love it
I really like the new style for the videos and for your TH-cam personality seems like major kill had positive effect on you and your channel. I love watching you guys so hope you guys continue to grow!
Honestly, i really like the idea of the Daemonculaba, for a couple of reasons. Allow me to peface this, Its absolutely disgusting, horrifying, evil, and all that.. But it also shows the brutal efficiency and 'ends justify the means' of the Iron Warriors. It also helps answer a couple of questions im regards to the creation of further recruits.
We definitely need an Iron Warrior video, or maybe just Honsou and Ventris saga video. The different ways they lead until meeting again in Ultramar. It's a great saga, but one that doesn't get enough recognition by the Warhammer community I feel. Instead they cherry pick the Daemonculaba and that's it
Please do more of these, just you in front of a camera and doing a book report. OMG that would he an amazing series. You are such a great story teller, your enthusiasm is so infectious.
Honest to god I truly think that the reaction _to the reaction_ of demonculaba is what’s blown out of proportion. I refuse to believe that there are 40k enjoyers that are actually horrified/offended by this story/concept that aren’t johnny-come-lately pearl-clutching troublemakers for the franchise.
I once went down the rabbit hole of how various chaos marines got more members, or replacements. I already knew about this. I'm not sure if this is the absolute worst thing in 40k, but it sure fits, and it sure is up there. The book was great tbh.
Wes I see your point and love the bits haha. I’m casual lore listener so I’m not taking in any lore and interpreting it for myself and tend to enjoy my 40K content creators. They make the content enjoyable :) The Daemonculaba is still pretty horrifying but as a campy horror creation it doesn’t upset me in the same vein as Human Centipede or Hereditary.
Love the video, dark urge isn't the defacto play if you want to be evil character and it only forces you to do one thing (which you can still avoid and get a unique npc interaction that can't happen any other way) you are always offered a choice to indulge or resist and you should definitely give the playthrough a chance. There are impacts and revelations that smooth out alot with that playthrough.
I read the book back in 2007 and I genuinely liked it😅. I thought the daemonculabas were the standard for creating chaos marines back then, because at that time I only knew 40k from Dawn Of War
Idk why everyone gets so bent out of shape about this one thing but are fine with like everything else. This is pretty par for the course of chaos in 40k
Not the best success rate, and it is mostly recycling while also using fresh captured gene seed, so not sustainable. Livable planets do exist in the eye of terror.
The tone in the background after 10:18 was causing me a mild heart attack before I realised where it came from. Thank you for another entertaining video from a 40k novice.

I love your honest reaction to the book. Your retelling of the "join me" scene is just wonderful. I totally get what you're talking about. Watch Ash vs. Evil Dead (or the rest of the franchise and other movies like them) and you see a LOT of theoretically gruesome stuff that is just...insane and exhilariating and ultimately SILLY. The book may not be as intentionally silly, but if it's campy and dumb enough (and your lively description gives me no reason to think it isn't), the effect is similar.
Watched your other video a few days ago where you mention the book "Storm Of Iron" , and now I'm getting spoilers for it.. lol. Love your channel, and I can not wait to get my sound marine shirt.

That's all I can think of when I hear this. 40k is notorious/loved for its "borrowing" from existing media, this is just another one.
But the Never made a Miles Teg

They don't? I thought everyone did that in 40k.
EVER.

Homunculus after finding out about the Daemonculaba :
" These Mon-keigh are really cute."
All of Uriel Ventris’ books are 80’s action movie style and I love it. They would make fantastic video games.
Agree. I went into them hating the smurfs but they changed that all for me.
What about the new one?
The Daemonculaba honestly isn't even that unusual. It's just a chaotic Axolotl tank.
Agreed, you could probably find worse in the average Drukhari basement
Its definitley dark but there are far more worse things out there.
For me personally, servitors are equal in terms of being how horrifying they are. But outside 40k, Procedure Montauk is WAY worse.

When you hear the legendary phrase "I shit you not" in a 40k video, you know your about to hear something WILD
Also yeah that dark urge thing ain't no joke. I looked away when recruiting gale and when I looked up I was chopping off his hands.
Plot twist:he is already, same as Luetin is a Heretical Tzeench Scholar or Priest. XD.
Also, I don't know why.
I thought GW removed that Lore because many people got angry or whatever.
The video actually begins at 4:13
You should do more intimate book breakdowns like this makes for cool content and not many loretubers do this.
The Daemonculaba is an axlotl tank from Dune, just rebranded a bit. Once again, Frank Herbert did it first.
Wes, you are one of the best when it comes to 40k. I am not even too into 40k, I watch it every now and again, but your content is top notch. And I loved when you sat and kinda talked to us at the end of your video. Would love to here more of your personal opinions on different 40k topics.
The break really helped man. I'm enjoying the renewed enthusiasm. Sometimes you just gotta take a break. Awesome video.
Why, though? What's the point in trying to scare people out of 40 K?
@@addison_v_ertisement1678 the point was to get them into Fantasy in order to save it before the end times. Sadly, it did not work. I even went so far as to hope Warhammer Fantasy was going to be 9th realm.
Ever since fantasy died I refused to buy anything except books from GW, and since TTS died I stopped buying even those. Now I am Just doing it out of spite. That’s why Iron Warriors and World Eaters are my favorite chaos legions.
That’s just scummy
It reminds me of ATHF when the trees tear pieces of Carls skin off to use as notepaper.
(Skip forward a little bit)
‘Now, slave,’ hissed Obax Zakayo. ‘Ventris told you to kill me.’ Leonid raised his lasgun and shot Obax Zakayo in the gut. He smelled burned flesh and nodded to himself, satisfied that the Iron Warrior was in pain but still alive. Obex Zakayo raised his head and roared, ‘Shoot me again, I’m not dead yet!’
Leonid stepped close and spat in Obax Zakayo’s face. ‘No,’ he said calmly. ‘An oath was given!’ screamed the Iron Warrior. ‘Ventris swore he would see me dead!’ ‘Uriel gave his word, but I didn’t,’ snarled Leonid. ‘I want you to live in agony then die in pain when this place is brought down!’
Obax Zakayo wept in pain and cursed him, but Leonid ignored his pleading as he removed the grenade attached to the crushing machine that was nearest the Iron Warrior and slipped it into his uniform jacket’s breast pocket. ‘Don’t want you dying by accident, now do we?’ he said. Without another word, Leonid turned and walked away.
I only want people to know that Mikhail Leonid was a lieutenant-colonel of the guard, a real human being. spitting in the face of chaos and their sick perversion.
Epic
Stone cold stuff, I can see why Uriel wanted this man on his team.
I personally didn't like adeptus ridiculous video on this. The way they just groaned and whined through it was so annoying. And bricky talking crap about violence towards women? And this is coming from a big adeptus ridiculous fan 😂
That Demon Train is literally Thomas the Tank Engine turned to Chaos. LOL
who doesn't love the Ultramarine books?! Uriel is one of my favorite characters, specifically because despite being a codex thumping smurf, he actually plays pretty fast and loose with actual codex "rules" and i love his character arc throughout the entire series!

You go back far enough and there is a good chance that i have read and still own the novel you are basing one lore video off of such as this lol. Another great video

Leutin's reading/explaining video of the deamonculaba was my first large helping of 40k lore. I've been hooked ever since.

Wes I see your point and love the bits haha. I’m casual lore listener so I’m not taking in any lore and interpreting it for myself and tend to enjoy my 40K content creators. They make the content enjoyable :)
The Daemonculaba is still pretty horrifying but as a campy horror creation it doesn’t upset me in the same vein as Human Centipede or Hereditary.
Very authentic, fun and enjoyable video, great one dude 👍.
I read the book back in 2007 and I genuinely liked it😅. I thought the daemonculabas were the standard for creating chaos marines back then, because at that time I only knew 40k from Dawn Of War

it's an interesting take you have at the end, almost framing Daemonculaba as, well a SCP in 40k

Just once id love to hear a story about some evil person taking someone and changing them into some daemonic form of wretched proportions, instilling untold power within said daemonic form, only for them to retain their conscience and sapience and have it totally backfire on the "mad scientist" who altered the sorry sap in the first place. And, it could stay wholly true to the oppressive tragedies of the 40k universe by making the changes irreversible, y'know, so we dont start getting too cheery about things... lol
It is always nice to hear about Dark Urge from BG3, pretty nice character giving nice rewards for trying to be good
