Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Swordfish! Thought it was a pretty good value knife as well. A lot of knife for a decent price! Great review brother!!
Just got my Swordfish in natural G10 (drop.com exclusive) and all I can say is WOW! I'm a very practical guy. I can't see spending a hundred or more on a piece of sharpened metal (unless we're talking about a chef's knife). But I do have an appreciation for good design, materials and craftsmanship. And after watching the reviews like this one, I decided $52 wasn't too much to spend on a decent blade. And what a very decent blade this is. The factory in China doesn't really spend much time on sharpening, but going by the knife I unboxed they really have their processes dialed in. The two sections of G10 on each half of my knife have NO gaps that can be seen with the naked eye. In some of the reviews these pieces don't mate perfectly, but mine do, so they are getting better at making these. The blade centers perfectly when folded and when deployed locks up rock solid with a firm press of the flipper. The firm press prevents accidental opening and is a good thing imo. As far as I know this is my first D2 steel knife and I know D2 is nothing exotic. It's a tool steel that's been around for decades but even though my knife needed some stone-loving..HOLY-SCHNEIKIES did it ever benefit from it. I put 5 minutes on my Shapton Ceramic 2000# and then another 10 minutes on my Naniwa Super Stone 5000# and I could shave by balls with this knife if I were sober enough. I have 8K and 12K Naniwa's but this is an EDC pocket knife, not an atom splitter so I left it at that. Are you considering this knife? Do it. Do it now and thank me later.
The only thing I took away from this comment is that you could shave your balls with it, lol! Thanks for watching, and thank you for the comment - all great and valid feedback. Cheers! And remember, don’t drink and shave 😉
Thanks, unclecow!! It doesn’t matter at all frankly, but I spell my name Sean, just a friendly FYI. But I answer to all spellings, haha. Thanks so much for watching as always!
I've loved the blade shape on this swordfish, since I first saw it, quite a while ago (LTK?),,, lovely knife, and good value too,, I think it's around the same size as an Endura ?, But I prefer liner lock to back lock any day,, All the best,,,,
thx. i'm looking to retire my reate as my edc because it's deployment can be an issue with such a strong detent. i loved my spyderco tenancious but wanted a blade with a better steel without the high cost. thx
Loved that knife. It was easily my favorite out of this batch of pass around knives. I stropped it up before passing it on just to make sure it was factory sharp for the next guy
Love this knife. Flipper tab and lock release tab are very smooth to the touch. One thing you didn't show is how freely it drops shut. For the money it's an outstanding value.
i love the two tone handle and the blade shape, etc.. The only downside for me is the weight. It seems like a lot of the more budget friendly knives are sacrificing weight to shave corners and they are producing some beefy, chunky anchors. I'm not saying that I don't love some of these anchors but they are damn heavy in the pocket! Great video as usual!
You’re right, there are some exceptions but a lot of the budget stuff is on the heavy side (I consider heavy to be anything 4oz. or greater. My preference is between 2 and 3.5 ounces.
Depending on what make & model you get, there is always the option to use an end mill bit to cut some weight out of steel liners. My fishing partner/best friend and I did some DIY customizing on a QSP penguin. I made a set of zebrawood scales for it while he acid etched the blade and cut some ovals into the liners. The end result was .75 oz lighter than what we started with (didn't weigh the components so not sure how much of that came from the scale material change vs the material removed from the liners).
This is one of my favorite knives, and really turned me on to Bestech as a brand. The funny thing about that pocket clip is that I have small hands for a man and I don't feel it either, although I have to say that I have perfect retention with it in my pockets. And you're right I really think it's a great buy at the price, although if you watch on Drop you can sometimes get it for $39 like I did 😀
Yeah I really like this one. The retention in the pocket was fine in that it wasn’t coming out, but when drawing it once it hit the spring retention it came out a little easier than I prefer. Not bad overall though, and not causing a hotspot kind of makes up for that, lol. Thanks for watching, John!

They sure are! And yes, ValTac is the jam!
Wow really nice looking Bestech knife!!! ^^
If I was into large heavier knives I’d snatch one of these up for sure. But I’m gonna check out more of their knives. Great vid.
Thanks, Robert. This was my first Bestech to handle but they are beloved by many that’s for sure.

Hey John! Yeah it has a really nice blade shape, and a great value! Yeah it’s about the size of an Endire roughly. Thanks for watching!
