Sometimes, the mind receives signals from the nerves that set off a kind of alarm but not sent to the conscious mind right away.
There is a delay. "This is not real" and can be discarded as if in a dream. No pain is felt and trauma moments can be totally lost as memory. You see the damage on your body. That is real. As much as you want to remember, you can't. Maybe hypnosis could help.
