  • Tracing back to ancient Greece, specifically Crete, the history of Europe unfolds, highlighting the inception of the continent's first high culture and the foundational myth of the Phoenician princess Europa’s kidnapping by Zeus. Narrator Christopher Clark guides viewers through this journey in a 6-part documentary series. Europe is often synonymous with the "Christian Occident", yet its civilisation is shaped by various faiths, including Christianity from the Orient, Judaism throughout the Roman Empire, and Islam in the Iberian Peninsula up to the 15th century. The “Europeanisation of the Earth” commenced with Christopher Columbus’s discovery of America while seeking a new route to India on behalf of the Spaniards, marking a "golden age" for Europeans but resulting in the suffering of millions in their colonies.

Great doc. One point of clarification: Humans have ALWAYS lived in groups. Tiny bands or lone individuals didn't pass down their genes and generally didn't survive well. We are, by necessity, social animals.

I'm enjoying the doc, and it's crafted fairly well. However, it's quite a bit Eurocentric. I get that they're literary tackling European origins, so the irony if this comment isn't lost in plain sight.

I understand, it is frustrating. Focus on the desired, for the truths are emerging and in this time they are unfolding to present the far more genuine reality.
Regardless of behaviors of those with agendas and those whom live through the Lower Mind, aka Ego Mind, the "Universal Law of Attraction" remains Absolute, and it is our key to a desired experience of Truth and Harmony.
Focus on the desire, it will be.

First of all, I don’t believe anybody allowed this guy into Cheviot caves discovered in 1990s the film the cave of forgotten dreams was made by using film recorded by archaeologists not by the Director. I guess they build a copy of Chauvet cave by now but this guy will not be allowed to walk around Chevere cave and breathe and fart. I wouldn’t allow him because he’s not a specialist and he’s not discovering anything new about Chave caves and there is no reason for humans to go into Chavez cave.

''breathe and fart.....there is no reason for humans to go into Chavez cave.'' Errrrr, deeper understanding of Human art, culture and history???
''Cheviot caves ..... film recorded by archaeologists not by the Director. ''
      - Maybe he didn't wish to needlessly disturb the environment. Should every person referring to the cave form their own expedition ?
Your arguments are disjointed, angry and self-refuting.

What a biased and incomplete understanding of history. Democracy popped up hundreds of years before the Greeks in the Harappan kingdom in India. They even had better plumbing hundreds of years before Europeans. This Euro or Western-centric mindset really blinds people from understanding the rest of the historically civilized world. Do better.

civilization, all those "european" things, the greeks copied from Hittites, and they copied the assyrians, who were Akkadian colonists, who were copying the Sumerians, who were descendants of levantine Anatolian bread makers and animal husbandrists. the bread makers came from spain, but were different from western hunter gatherers, and most definitely came from africa, prevailing theory. thats the bread makers. then theres the animal husbandry that came with the western hunter gatherers. ahahahah who's ancestors made those paintings. they were the blue eyed, with some from the North, related to Finno-Ugric people. these people went to Middle East, evolved, came back, and everyone became farmer. until the rise of the HORSE.
