    The next time you're absent-mindedly scrolling down your Tumblr feed, keep in mind that one of those photos you're ignoring could be hiding something that will change the world ...

      In that particular army, I suppose someone would be afraid of getting into terrible trouble should a soldier just climb out of a tank and stop him from moving. Irony is, such a soldier might have won a medal and a ticket to Disneyland..

    It is a known fact that Radbourn was NOT flipping the finger intentionally, he had suffered a broken finger during a friendly game and the result was a permanently prone finger. No matter what pictures of him you find from that moment the finger is always in the same situation.

Sure animals fight for territory and food and survival...we fight just for the stupidest thing color, status, money, power (like you can take that to your Damm grave) imagine 2 zebras fighting over because has one more black or white stripe....we would think that's ridiculous right? yeahh....exactly.

    The 1914 picture, was not of Hitler. Hitler do not start sporting that 'sash until he was in WW1. He started shaving like that, because he found it difficult getting his gas mask on tight enough to prevent the gas from getting in.

    I think it's safe to say that 60 win season will never be broken. The game must have been way different back then. Pitchers don't start 60 games now. Not so long ago starting pitchers were expected to go 9 innings more often than not, now a complete game is pretty rare. It's weird that as pitchers pitch less, Tommy John surgeries are going way up.

    There is a contradiction in the story of August Landmesser and Irma Eckler as related: If Landmesser didn't see his wife again after she was detained at Fuhlsbuttel prison and she gave birth to their second child there, how does the photo at 10:47 exist?

    The first photo of a person was taken on a busy day with lots of foot traffic but because of how long an exposure took it only showed things and people who stayed still for awhile so a man getting his shoes shined was the only person in frame staying still long enough to be recorded. True

  • @Vampirization
    @Vampirization 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    no 6: I highly doubt that's Hitler. He didn't have that kind of mustache at that time, he boasted the then popular "handlebar" mustache. He only trimmed to the toothbrush mustache while serving in WW1 so that his gas mask could seal properly.

    The "tank man" story always seems to get me in a way. its such bravery and frustration in that guy its so interesting. Tiananmen Square was not a pretty era, it was quite a sad moment for everyone involved although its been a while since i learned it. it was about independence the citizens were seeking by the countries leader didn't want that so it made all these things he thought would better his country and give those a bit of freedom they asked for but both plans failed, i really don't remember but this guy was really brave and even got the tanks to turn a way, i will one day like to know who this man was its would be amazing to hear what he was feeling at this time.

  • @jannisares

    Some say Hitler didn't want war. The look on his face says he liked a warmonger announcement, that he was eager to fight.

    • @angrytom1923
      @angrytom1923 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He wasn't alone in that. Many people on both sides were eager for war at the time. They quickly changed their tune when they started hearing reports from the front indicating what a nightmare warfare had become with the advent of machine guns and massed artillery.

    • @angrytom1923
      @angrytom1923 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      jannisares Well, yes, by the late 1930's, Germany was in full recovery mode and very aggressively looking to expand, now that they had a rebuilt military capability to achieve that goal. But in 1914, he wasn't alone in his desire for a fight, that's what I was saying. I think the attrition of WWI wore down most of Europe's will to fight so that by the time Hitler came to power, most European countries favored diplomacy to stifle Hitler's aspirations rather than going to war again less than a generation after such devastation had rocked their respective lands and populations.

    • @jannisares
      @jannisares 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Angry Tom Agreed. There are plenty of people who think Hitler didn't want another war. Also there's some simple biology in play here. So many men died in WWI that the birth rate of the country dropped so much that when WWII was being planned there wasn't many men that were old enough to fight. So that variable was also a factor.

    Very interesting video Lutch Green, thanks for the effort. I'd like to point out ,though, that in picture no.6 it is unlikely to be Hitler we see but someone else entirely, with the claim that the picture depicts the future Führer likely to be the product of propaganda. The toothbrush mustache was a common trend in Germany at the time, having been imported from America sometime in the late 1800's - early 1900's. It's popularity was likely due to the ease of its upkeep compared to the Kaiser mustache which was longer, turned up at the ends and often perfumed. Adolf Hitler was not known to wear the toothbrush mustache until AFTER WWI broke, with the earliest reliable account stating that he adopted the now infamous style in the trenches because he had been ordered to trim his bushy mustache because it prevented him from using his gas mask effectively. Although his sister-in-law, Bridget Hitler, was to claim that she was the reason he wore the characteristic mustache, saying that while she was holidaying with him in 1912-13 she made him trim it because she found it unruly and disagreeable but that, as in most things, he went "too far". However most historians consider this account to be fictitious.

      +Benjamin Roe I agree it can't be Hitler because, he almost died during WW1 from poison gas. His gas mask didn't fit because his mustache was to thick that's when he went with the toothbrush style

    • @bennyroe6667
      @bennyroe6667 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kenny Joe I thank you for your comment and your agreement but, though I could be mistaken, I'm not sure your version of events is quite correct. Firstly, I dispute the claim that Hitler was nearly killed as a result of poison gas attack, though it did leave him hospitalised since he was, for a time, blinded by the attack and was unable to walk on the following day. If I'm correct, it is quite possible that during or after his rise to power his injuries were exaggerated, in which case you may, conceivably, have mistaken this piece of propaganda for a factual account. Secondly, although, as I mentioned in my previous comment, Hitler did most likely adopt the toothbrush mustache during WWI, from what I can gather he was likely already sporting the style by the time of the gas attack mentioned above, since it took place on the night of the 13th/14th October 1918 and left him hospitalised until the war ended a little under one month later so, at this time, it would have been unnecessary for him to make any changes to his appearance for the sake of personal safety. Rather, as previously mentioned, he likely donned the new style earlier in the war after being ordered to trim his bushy mustache due to it preventing him from using his gas mask effectively, though I am unsure exactly why he would go on to sustain the injuries that he did if his mask fitted correctly - maybe he did not have access to it at the time of the attack or simply failed to put it on in time or maybe the explanation lies in something that I'm missing. If you know of any information that proves me wrong or simply expands on what we have discussed, I would very much appreciate it if you could link me to it.

    Problem with the Hitler photo. He did not go with the Charlie Chaplin Mustache until he had been injured in a gas attack during the war. His larger mustache prevented his gas mask from properly sealing. He shaved his mustache to what we all know to prevent such an incident again.

    I stopped watching at the "flipping the bird picture" because it said that the gesture came from Italy in the 1890 and that is just completely wrong! Flipping the bird is a gesture that is at least 600 years old- if not older. The English use to train all their peasants as Bowmen, so when the French would capture an English Bowmen they would cut their Index/pointing finger off so they could no longer pull a bow and then they would send the Bowmen back in prisoner exchanges. And no they were not generally killed! Their lords would pay for them to be freed, it was to dangerous for them to go home if they refused an exchange/ ransom and they need them for their fields! And the French would not kill them because the English always had French prisoners and they knew they could trade them,. so they played nice. Same with camp followers and washer women. During the Crusades one of the most important things discussed when offering terms or talking peace was the washer women. The Muslims would be like we have X number of Knights and Y number of foot soldiers, Squires etc and the Europeans would be like yes yes...whatever! What do you want for the imitate return of our washer women?? Its seams weird to us for them to see the old lady's who did their laundry etc as so valuable. But think about it, these are warriors far from home so their camps, clothes etc probably got pretty disgusting pretty fast and they would have no clue how do any "woman's work" and even if they did, they would not do it -because they were warriors, knights etc. But back to the point, The jester with the middle finger was i sign of resistance, it was a way of saying...yeah Frenchmen you cut my index finger off, but i can still pull a bow with my mild finger! This is also the root of the two finger "up yours" jester that English people still uses to this day. Its has almost the same root meaning. So just like the 6 barrel pistol was called "the great equalize"r in the old west, two fingers and a Long Bow made a peasant equal to a Knight on the medieval battle field. Its a great Ango-American gesture and i am sure most people have no idea where it comes from. Well now you do.

    The supposed picture of Hitler in the crowd is questionable at best. His actual war photos show him with a full mustache, not the short style everyone associates him as having. He shortened it to be able to get a better seal on his face when wearing a gas mask, (or so the story is told).This could be a picture of him AFTER WWI but not before.

    Second image looks too much like a cigar between his fingers than flipping the finger to camera guy. There is a gap down at base of his fingers and if it was his finger, there would be no gap. But if You are holding a cigar or pen/ pencil between your fingers I would expect to see that same gap. So I think the guy who said it was the finger needs to RECHECK this photo.
