“Hello everyone and wwelcome to another hiiiigh-elo game of aaage of empires” gets me every time. 👌
Dopamine rushes crazy style when I hear that
En just when you hear that 🎉🎉
Y'all making me blush!
Honestly, I think this game is a great culmination of MBLs learning and rise from a great player to one of the very best over the past year or so. He played nearly flawlessly and showed great knowledge of the civs and Hera. He was never housed the entire game. He knew the Goths need to take the initiative and go to Imp as fast as possible, so he both used the economic strength of the Persians to pull ahead and get faster uptimes an be as offensive as he possibly could be. He knew that Hera likes to go archers + scouts, so he went Skirms + Scouts and then Camels in CA. He then used Heras great scouting and showed him a bunch of Cav Archers, making Hera go Huskarls. Then he walled off his flanks and went fast Imp + HC + Citadel Castles + Elephants, which all absolutely melt Huskarls, and pressured Heras base at the same time. He also gunned down Heras castle before he was able to get Perfusion. Hera did try to retaliate, but it was too little too late. One of the best MBL games and use of the Persians I've seen, well down.
Hera was definitely too passive. It's very awkward for the Goths as you want to lean back and boom until you can get to your Imp Goth spam yourself. But Persians are the ultimate snowball civ and if you leave them unchecked for too long, this is exactly what can happen. If they waddle into your base with Elephants, HCs and Citadel Castles, it's too late. I'm not sure what Heras plan was exactely.
Also, great showcase of how strong the War Elephant really is, considering it was only the base version with feudal age armor upgrades. They are slow and hard to get, but if they get going, they hit like a truck.
MbL is crushing it on ranked ladder!
It's just like Spirit of the Law once said: If War Elephants are stomping all over your base, the problem isn't your Halbs (despite that Hera didn't get any), the problem is you let the Persians get too big.
You simply cannot play passive against Persians. It's an instant loss choice.
kinda underrated how properly mbl played here. its less about hera's mistakes and more about how mbl did almost everything right from going camels in early castle because he knew hera wopuld swarm with knights otherwise and then also getting hand cannoneers asap to put off any sort infantry rush!
Agree 100%
Crazy game. That chunky boi fought like Rocky.
.."when you rush a good thing, bad things happen"....you got me there...tha wisdommm 9:01
Always see to see War Elephants
Great game, great commentary.
Thank you!
Persians are such a weird civ these days. Super-castles and TCs, but no fortified wall or guard towers. Super crossbows and CAs, but no bracer. Super docks, but no shipwright. They have great cavalry, but otherwise they have little buffs and nerfs in every area of the game.
thats how balancing has always been in aoe2. like how franks dont get bloodlines.
They can upgrade their Watch Towers to Guard Towers, I believe you mean they don't get Keeps.
ur voice sound so campaign alike voice, are u working with aoe?
Thank you! No, just casting games on my own.
the perfect ending for your Civ win conversation at the middle of the game would have been... its not the civ, its the player.
Civ do matter
@@hafidzsiddiq9827 at 900-1100 elo.. goths are really hard to defend against.. at this elo level, its a fair fight. so... its not the civ, its the player.
Wooooooooo \0/ Explore the explorables
Haha knew you'd like that
Since when do persian castles have that upgrade?
They got Citidels maybe 1 or 2 updates ago, I think
45 possible civilizations in a 1v1 is 45^2 = 2,025 combinations
*edit: (45 x 44)/2 = 990 possible matchups (excluding mirror matchups)
(45 x 44 x 43 x ... x 3 x 2 x 1) = 45! ≈ (1.1962222 x 10^56) different ways to list all civilizations in order
Divide by 2 to exclude mirror matchups
Thanks!
@@castofempires Your intuition was almost accurate.
(44 + 43 + 42 + ... + 3 + 2 + 1) =
((44 + 1) + (43 + 2) + (42 + 3) + ... + (24 + 21) + (23 + 22)) =
(45 + 45 + 45 + ... + 45 + 45) =
45 x 22 = 990
It's really better to think about the total number of matchups as a combination, namely 45 choose 2. The formula would be 45! / [2! * (45-2)!] = 990.
wp 👍 not much to do

Wolololo
Longswordsmen from Hera would have countered MBLs whole army
First.
Nice!
