whatever be her crimes, mistakes and faults, she finally proved that was braver than all the sikhs put together. she knew her days were numbered once she ordered Op. blue star but she refused to change her bodyguards from sikhs to others coz that would send wrong signals to all sikhs. and those cowards gunned her down. even worse and shameless are the sikhs that celebrated the murder of a defenceless old lady at the hands of the men she trusted - that shame , like the air-india bombing, will never be forgotten or forgiven.

As an American, I developed an admiration and respect for Indira Gandhi from seeing her in a TV interview back in the late 1970s. In those days, hardly any women were Heads of State.
I well remember when Prime Minister Gandhi gave the orders to attack the Golden Temple, seeing the film footage on TV. My first thought on seeing it was "She's just signed her death warrant." I had a feeling then that something would happen to her.
Then a few months later (October 1984), when I was back in college, I learned that Prime Minister Gandhi was killed by her Sikh bodyguards. I felt sad. But I was not surprised that she was assassinated.

    1984 is a black mark in Indian History for 3 main reasons;
    1) Indira Gandhi should not have ordered the attack on (Sri Harmandir Sahib) The Golden Temple in the manner that she did especially on such a religious day. They could have used just snipers OR just cut off water and electricity which would have forced the extremists to leave the complex.
    2) The Sikh bodyguards should not have killed Indira Gandhi as they were hired to protect her
    3) Rajiv Gandhi should have ordered curfews, ordered the Army to step in and ensured the anti Sikh riots in Delhi and other parts of India should not have occurred

What is perplexing and disturbing is why no Sikh at that time questions weapons and arms inside their holy shrine.
It indeed is shameful that an extremist like bhindranwale was being called a religion leader even though he was openly flaunting weapons.
Somehow Sikhs at that time failed to understand different between religion and extremism. If you make extremist your hero then price has to be paid unfortunately.
Sikhism started as a religion of total submission to the Holy Gurus and the community was a fighter to save others even at cost of their lives. That was the greatness of Sikhism. This was lost is early 80’s by blind following an extremist.
No sikh asked for Punjab on pakistan side clearly shows this was pakistan funded group.

An objective analysis; Truly the greatest leader on our planet in recent times. No leader recently has done more for his or her country than her. Only Mr. Putin comes close. She taught the Chinese a lesson at Nathu La in 1967. She fragmented Pakistan in 1971 and the strong supporter of Pakistan China ran out of fear from the scene. While the other supporter of Pakistan the great power USA was baffled. She brought parts of POK back to India in 1971. Also demonstrated an advanced nuclear warhead in 1974. Sikkim and Siachen was also brought to where they belonged. The Sikh issue is a complex one. Who are the Sikhs? Guru Nanak Dev respected as an Avtar by Hindus was a Hindu of the Khatri (merchant) caste. He loved all human beings equally but did not interfere in the caste system. All his progeny is married in the same Khatri caste. We Sikhs have a strong caste system. For example we have the Kshatriya (Rajput) Sikhs, the Jat Sikhs, the Khatri Sikhs, the Saini Sikhs. the Ramgarhia Sikhs, the Lavana Sikhs, the Mazhabi Sikhs, etc. All Sikhs marry in the same Sikh caste or in the same caste with Hindus and vice-versa. Example the sister of Capt. Amarinder Singh a Jat-Sikh was married to the late Kanwar Natwar Singh a Hindu-Jat. The -only major mistake of Mrs. Gandhi was to attack our temple when she had several other options. However in reality she was only an Indian nationalist and not anti anyone. In fact her own daughter-in-law was a Bapha (Khatri) Sikh from a well known Sikh family. Why did she get assassinated even though she had been warned about her bodyguards? The truth of the matter is she as a loyal individual did not want to hurt the sentiments of her Sikh body guards. Her bodyguards were from the Mazhabi (janitor, scavenger, etc.) caste of the Sikhs and thus she was extremely kind to them and treated them as her own children in the Indian cultural tradition to encourage them. In the end what polish, class and a pure Aryan personality in every sense. This is the blunt truth.

@@sandeepk4093 China was indeed bashed by her in 1967 at Nathu La. Also later on the brilliant Gen. Sundarji one of the top generals of any period taught China a lesson at .Sumdorong Chu Valley. In 1962 India was ill-equipped and China had Korean War experience. China also had no enemies on her border then. China after 1971 had strong Yehudi-lobby support via the doctrine of Henry Kissinger. Israel trained the Chinese and also armed them though with good U.S. weapons but not the best. Since the USA already had some anger on Israel for helping China. The USSR killed 42,000 Chinese on the Ussuri River and Vietnam thrashed China in 1979. China is a Paper-Tiger.

    -- 1984 Anti Sikh massacres were.deliberate and premeditated .
Despite having a large presence of Army Units in Delhi (including Red Fort ) , Army was not called out for 3 days.Units which came from Meerut were sent back.
Compare this with the terrorist attack on Parliament in 2001, Special Forces of the Indian Army reached the Parliament House ,in helicopters , in less than 10 minutes.
Later , top honest Police Officers observed that during the riots frantic calls were received by the Police Control Room ( PCR Tel No 100 ). These were referred to concerned Thanas . What happened in the Thanas - all records were missing.

@ unfortunately you are right. There was planned systematic census and address based genocide and mass rapes. All over India. Delhi just had more media coverage.
Involved leaders like Mrs Indira Gandhi and her son Mr Rajiv Gandhi who lets just say did not die of natural causes.
While the same intellectual clowns love to point out at how “cowardly” Mrs Gandhi’s assassination was, they never speak out about Hindu tamils regarding Mr Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination in the same way and there in lies the bias or intimidation for a strong Sikh community. There are strong anti Sikh forces in India.
But there are also strong connections and genuine love between the two communities and I hope that prevails. Because in the end Sikhism is a faith is all inclusive to all humanity and that’s how we should be anyway.
The Sikhs have never retaliated in a similar fashion in Punjab as what was done to them. Neither did they collectively attack any Hindu temple nor any Hindu was burnt alive or their women raped as was done vice versa. But of course there is new false narrative being made that 35000 Hindus were killed in Punjab as well. This is not true and being done to justify what happened and I suspect future patterns of negative behavior as well. Also everything boils down to a battle for resources in the end and it is to quell the farmer agitation. 😊 Hope peace and brotherhood prevails.

What an eventful day! I was just 12 years old coming back from school after the news is out. For some reason my Dad didnt go to office (Space Org) that day. He met me walking home (usually I come by school bus). And I told him the news. We went immediately and switch on the TV. Doordarshan showed the ambulance being taken away with blood in the ground. They took out the footage soon after from their records. My fav was she. Literally I didn't eat food for 3 days. When her ashes were brought to Kerala (Trivandrum) in Kanakakunu Palace, we went from our school to give our respects. I had taken a lily from there in memory of My Indiraji. It grew in our house without ever failing. White Lily.
One another thing I watched in the doordarshan was a Superstar (tall and friend of "guess") was giving strong statements against Sikhs. They took out that footage as well. Anyways, what a bad chapter.
Always loved Sikhs! My Dad studied in Punjab and spoke punjabi. India should ban religions and caste. I never felt equal in India with these anomalies in the society. I denounced hinduism and left India for good. Living in Europe. Still love India however we need to correct ourselves. No agreement for a drop of terrorism as well. Peace be upon the world! Always will miss you Indiraji and Rajivji!
Hope Rahulji will take the flame more pure and in honest way! Times changed, people can see through things. Rahul is amazing person and a humble man. He is our present and future.

In order to control the extremism helped by external forces (ISI and Agencies), Indian army took action on holy place. In return Indira Gandhi died and perpetrator of all Congress starts that shikh genocide.
I have many friends who are sikh and we reached to above conclusion after long discussion. (Sikh are the original Hindus who sacrificed their family to save Hindus, from Mugals and Britishers. On the Anandpur resolution: Pande writes on page 213. "Mrs Gandhi's award gave Chandigarh to Punjab as the elections approached closer"....."Chandigarh had not gone to Punjab but remained a union territory". (Indira backed out of the deal 1st time)
Page 215. Pande quotes: "The agitation by the Akalis...was not at any stage communal or directed against any community, least of all Hindus.
Page 217 : Sardar Swaran Singh (negotiator) met with Longowal and then Bhindranwale in Amritsar. Agreement was reached by all sides as to Anandpur resolution. "When Swaran Singh came back to Delhi, Mrs Gandhi told him he was much too pro-Akaliand she could not agree to his plans". Thus ended his efforts.
Amrinder Singh MP of Patiala and Devinder Singh MLA attempts would also fail. (2nd time Indira backed out).
Page 217 Pande writes: "Third attempt was made by some opposition leaders... Harkishan Singh, Surjeet of CPI (M)...Principal secretary Dr P.C. Alexander... Krishnaswamy Rao Sahib and Home Secretary T.N. Chaturvedi... Akalis were also present". Page 218 "Prime Minister did not return the final draft with her approval.
Page 220. Pande writes: But a large section of the Indian press and Congress (I) party at the centre and the states, if not directly then certainly by innuendo, continued to suggest that the Akali Dal and SGPC were in favor of Khalistan, that they were not in agreement to settle the issues with the Government of India...". A feeling was created in Hindu minds Sikhs are pro Khalistanis."This created a serious rift in the two communities". This shows the power of the press to lie to masses minority(used as scape-goats) vs majority.
The politics in 2024 are the same create an environment of hate towards a group to hold on to power. This is how upper caste gov holds its power. It claims it is for the Majority (Hindus). But it shares no power with the lower or middle castes. It uses middle castes and lower castes for violence against a minority community claiming the Hindu 80% is in danger.
Lies of the Indian media would create massacres in the country. The gov in the center always finds a way to divert attention from real issues of Indian. Economy, job creation national debt etc. It seems it is easy to blame minority to get the vote of the majority.

I was 11 years old, living in Delhi during the time of the riots. experienced the night riots from the roof on our house and saw the bloody mess next morning on the streets, charred bodies and burnt out buildings. The night of the riots, my father took in a Sikh man who had escaped his burning shop, behind our house and hid him, despite my mums pleas for our safety. Rioting crowds were burning homes of any non Sikh families who gave refuge to a Sikh. Took me years to process what happened overnight, that night. Was a bad time in the history of India especially its humanity as it was guided by bad religious sentiments on both sides.

Indira gandhi,Sanjay gandhi,Zail singh they introduced to public Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwala for political purpose against political opponents called Akali dal.
Bhinderanwala soon realized he is being used Gandhis and congress and took separate path and thats when Indira did "bluestar"
The matter could have been solved by dialouges but Indira was under pressure from rss and its leaders.
LK advani has claimed in his autobiography that Indira didnt want to do "bluestar" we made her do that.
Its sad and unfortunate that so many innocent died over cheap politics.

Mrs Gandhi made the first mistake of releasing Bhindrawale from prison to use him as a political tool against the Alkalis. Bhindrawale's mistake was to take advantage of Sikh sentiment as far as the Golden Temple was concerned and then barricade himself in the temple which he then fortified with his followers. Then, the Sikhs abroad seem to forget that the moderate Sikhs outnumber the militant ones and above all that Sikhs in vast numbers serve in the Indian army in defence of the country. They have, after Independence been awarded with numerous gallantry awards and laying down their lives for the nation.
Today, the so called militants, are a minority among the Sikhs living abroad, mainly in Canada, US and the UK and moves are one to limit their settling abroad because of the problems they pose to their adopted countries they live in. Just the other day, they went on a rampage in Canada, threatening Canadians and asked them to leave the country as they were settlers occupying Canada. This results in the moderates suffering and getting a bad name

India is a unique country made by 5,000 years indigenous people living there with world record breaking diversity, hence it’s not easy to manage but it’s not impossible either so let’s all do their bit to not give up on India and Indians cause every bit counts.
