- President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to appoint his deputy president, ministers and their deputies soon. Ramaphosa has begun consultations on the appointment of a new cabinet after agreeing to form a broad coalition with opposition parties. There are calls for Ramaphosa to cut by a third, the number of Cabinet posts. The President has vowed to serve his people with humility and dignity regardless of their race and political preferences. He was speaking after taking the oath of office as president of the seventh administration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday (19 June).
"Who will be in Ramaphosa's cabinet?" To discuss this we're now joined virtually by the political analyst based at Nelson Mandela University, Dr Ongama Mtimka and Senior Research Fellow for the Centre of African Diplomacy and Leadership at the University of Johannesburg, Oscar van Heerden.

Ramaphosa needs to have a frequent visit into his Minister's long and short plannings with a special power to Veto when there are Shortcomings especialy when it comes to non sound budgetory Activities.

This does not make sense. How can DA be part of government thru GNU and at the same be opposition benches, something does not add up, I think Sakhina's guest is totally wrong about Steenhuisen being a leader of opposition in this case.
He will always be looked at an an opposition politician.
I trust he will appoint ministers that will add to the success of GNU and not those that were appointed because they contributed to the "struggle"

Why does the interviewer scoff at the idea of DA getting 30% of the seats? It's only fair. People outside of the GNU shouldn't be getting seats for window dressing. Steenhuizen should be in cabinet because he will be privy to all the cabinet conversations and able to keep the ANC honest.
