Welcome to the Cairns Esplanade, Tropical North Queensland, Australia. A 2.5 kilometre waterfront oasis that attracts thousands of people every day.
Join the 'Pack' at around 4.00pm for a winter’s afternoon full circuit of the Esplanade area. We’ll commence in front of Muddy’s Playground and run south along the boardwalk continuing out along the marina wall. We will then return passing our start point (half way) and continue on to the northern end of the Esplanade before commencing our final 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) back to our starting point. Not only will you be able to enjoy the spectacular views but you will see the locals and tourist taking advantage of the numerous activity areas that have been set up along its’ length.
I lived in the area for 10 years and this is one of my favourite placed to get away from it all and run. Unfortunately the weather was not favourable while I was back on holidays. It did stop raining for the afternoon to allow the recording of the run.

Awesome, thanks. I lived in Cairns for a couple of years, or so, and was due there this weekend, but of course that's now all on hold. So I had to settle for this video and a run on my treadmill. Almost like being there :-)

Dave 646 Dave, glad you enjoyed it. This video provides those that have lived there two things; memories of the The Esplanade and the weather! I lived south of Cairns for a number of years. I never got tired of the scenery and atmosphere on this route.

Fantastic, god how I miss the place back October for a few mnths. Have bung knees so I run adjacent to the boardwalk on the sand when tide is out bloody fantastic my private beach, do four laps a day, member genesis. Best wishes Mick

Mick, you very welcome. It’s such a fantastic place to run, whatever the weather! My son and I completed a fun run there in the pouring rain! There is so much to see in the different area and it’s great for people watching. I have many fond memories of running the Esplanade followed by a swim in the lagoon
