That is a pretty heavy bike even without it's original accessories. This man would definitely need a vacation after using this on the mx race track. Just see how the bike goes down after eveey jumps, kinda real heavy and no matter what he does to distribute his weight in the rear or back, the bike still touches the ground with its front wheel first. Haha. Hats off to this guy.

Perfect, exactly what i was looking for oddly enough:
An experienced adult man, above average in size and strength, with an MX racing background riding a full sized ADV bike on an MX track throwing it around a bit. somebody please keep giving hin ADV bikes to flog around MX tracks lol, not a lot of big men in motocross, seems like average weight is like 160-170 for the adults, and anyone over 190-200 has let themselves go, not this guy though he has the size, strength and apparent fitness to do some very unique things with bikes this big, which isnt as irrelevant of a test to put these bikes through. ADV bikes are extremely popular, expensive and receive the majority of attention from the finest motorcycle background engineers on earth so they need to be able to withstand this level of abuse, even if only a select few individuals are capable of truly manhandling them to this level.

Miles, thank you for showing us all how the gs could be ridden. Well done! I have owned 2 gs1200’s and still don’t have the skills to ride a big bike on track like you did. It’s very impressive. Regarding the padding on the passenger mount, I read that it’s a custom job. I’d love to get a pair for my 17 gs. Those pads help so much with arm pump and stand up riding. I had a pair of stegs pegs on my ktm 350, and love them. Is it possible to point me in the direction of who made them for you? Or if you made them, could you share how to make them? I’d love a set! Cheers!

This bike is expensive, very expensive like 2.5x more as compared to competition(Tiger), at least in india but its 10x better than its competition, especially on our indian roads and off roads.
I rode one and its miles better than my Tiger 900rally pro, (like literally miles better).
I don't think even tiger 1200 can beat it outright.

  • @ItsMe-my7sz

u actually don't need all that aftermarket stuff to ride it on a mx track.... I remember racing a standard r1200gs (not the rally) some years back. And although on my light and nimble g450x i could easily beat him, i really didn't expect any adventure bike to be that good on a mx track

G'day Steve, the levers are designed and made in Cape Town, South Africa. They are awesome, I used them recently on a 16 day ride in Africa and was so impressed decided to bring them in to Australia. They are the only levers I have used that do not crush my third finger and they are really beautifully built. Sorry, but it just looks, and is, WAY too heavy and cumbersome to throw around a motocross track. I used to ride motocross (KTM 250 2 strokes, UK AMCA), and now have a '66 plate (late 2016) GS 'Triple Black' edition, and it really is way too heavy for this stuff (I'm 6'1" and 16 stone too). The 'boxer' cylinders stick out way too much as well, but if you drop this bike or have a real big/bad 'get off', then it's an expensive bit of kit to repair - rads, lights, indicators, instrument cluster, etc. Finally, on 2014-17 models, there is an official recall on the top fork/yoke casting, as they shear under 'high stress/impact situations' - this happened on mine, but BMW were great and repaired/modified it without any fuss at all (even collected and delivered the bike back - and all done in two days).
