      @@Jimbowinch Great question. It's possible. And no I wouldn't think you were being funny . Because I don't know if that's poo on the ground or not. I didn't even think to check on that. But somethings there , what I'm not sure, but yeah could easily be poo. Good catch. you right it would make both guard and horse uncomfortable having to deal with the smell of it for hours on end. So this Karen really doesn't need to be upsetting the horse any more then he already is. It's not easy dealing with a bad temper horse. And that could give him a bad temper ,already being uncomfortable as it was.

      The first thing I’m noticing is that he’s constantly chewing his bit. I’m wondering if they need to check his mouth and the bit for places of wearing.

    • @donnarivo7955
      @donnarivo7955 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@kathryndavenport2725 Nice you notice. But no , sometimes it does happen yes. But this time that's no the problem. They do at times when they just aren't comfortable with it and it needs to be checked , not this time. Something clearly has he upset. One, horses really don't like their face messed with. And she keeps touching him there. It's ok to touch them there but not for to long . Depending on the horse , some don't mind it to much depending on how long you do. And she keeps putting her hand at his mouth like she has a treat when she doesn't. That's like teasing a horse. Which after a few minutes will upset them. That's like me handing you something to eat than taking it away not giving it to you a number of times. Horses don't understand teasing with food and that's about what she's doing there. It would upset you or anyone as well. No she the cause of the problem here. But your right at times it can be the bits. Much respect.

      Wondering if it needs its teeth floated.
      Another possibility is the saddle is pinching his back.
      Could also be a problem with the bit.
      Standing in or near the poop isn't going to bother either of them. Horses walk in it all the time. And, other than when it first happens, there's not a lot of smell to it. Cow or pig is much worse.

    One my horses loved to play with his bit with his tongue-it’s like a fidget toy for horses. The silly boy got it under his tongue somehow, in the show ring. OMG, he was tossing his head and doing those little baby bucks. He was usually so calm and well behaved so I knew something was bothering him. In the middle of showing, rode him to center ring and dismounted. Checked his cinch, his bridle, his saddle but nothing was amiss. Someone from the audience yelled to me to check his bit. Sure enough that was the issue. Took his bridle off, fixed his bit, and returned to the competition. We still came in third. Watching this video, just kept thinking-“check his bit.”

    I won't pretend to know anything about horses, because I don't. I do know that this is a beautiful animal who has had his/her fill of standing in that little space for the day. I am wondering why it kept moving it's mouth so much...was something irritating it? Did it maybe have a toothache? Whatever the reason for it's behavior, it should have been relieved from duty immediately and it should have been checked-out to see if there was a physical reason for it. Their job may look easy (both horse and guard), but I actually believe it's a very difficult job and I can understand why annoyance would set in.

      these horses only do one hours duty between 11am and 4pm. They don't do every day and the first part of the day is spent in one of the London Parks out on exercise. They have vets on call 24/7 and farriers as well. Part of their summer is spent in the countryside having fun in the sea and time out at grass as well. Any problems with them and it is straight to the defence vets in Leciestershire.

    Non-horse people don’t understand or even care that these horses have a job to do, for which they are bred and very well trained. Having strangers approaching them CONSTANTLY is very stressful and unfair to the horse and rider team. Maybe the solution is not to allow any visitors within a certain distance of the horse. Photographs to be taken only from a distance of, say, 10 feet or more. I know back in the days when I was showing horses, I never allowed any strangers near my horses. Neither did anyone else I showed with. It’s too stressful for the horses.

      That's my gripe too. The guards in the courtyard have chains to keep the people away, and no one is going to keep touching their faces. Why do the horses have to put up with that? They aren't pets, and shouldn't have to put up with people mauling all over them. They don't get the protection the soldiers do and they volunteered for the job. It's hardly fair.

      Bits always hurt the horse. Some riders claim they are gentle, but they're putting metal in a horse's sensitive mouth. Many horses have injuries to their lips, gums, tongue, and teeth. Yanking on the bit, which a lot of riders do when they're angry or impatient, can also cause damage to the nerves of the face and neck. Mexicans are the worst, they use cruel bits and nosebands with sharp pieces attached to cause damage. Abuse to horses is widely accepted in the equestrian world.

    The way mouth bits used are very severe bits in strong hands. They are very uncomfortable on the tongue and roof of the mouth especially if the horse has a very fleshy large tongue and they may be fine in finer breeds but heavier types maybe not so good. Not every horse is compatible. These horses stand for a length of time being pestered by humans up in their space and constant touching the whole time. It would be like being hugged and kissed constantly by the annoying aunt you want to avoid. It is stressful for both the guards and the horses while trying to perform their duty.

    King's Guard. You need to get your Household Cavalry ranks sorted out if you are going to film these guys. and make statements in all HM Forces there is a formal Rank structure from a Private or in (Cavalry a Trooper) running up the ranks JNCO (junior Non commissioned officer) SNCO (Senior Non commissioned officers) which also take in the Warrant Officer ranks. Then the Commissioned Officer ranks. The Cavalry ranks are unique to them as are the Foot Guards to any other infantry regiments in the British Army. The Chap with the peeked cap and riding crop is a (Corporal of Horse ) a SNCO and equivalent rank of Sergeant in other units of HM Forces. He is classed as a Senior Supervisor and would be in charge of the group of men, women & horses and the day to day running of the Guard at Horse Guards. The Commissioned Officer would be the person overall in charge, they only appear at certain times and on the official change over of the guard. They are also the person who will inspect the Guard at the 16:00 hrs Punishment Parade's they are recognised by different style of uniform with Gold on the tails of their tunics a different shade of Cape to the Troopers and they will be saluted by The NCO's taking the Parade and given "Eyes Left or Right as all the Troopers leave the Parade area"
    The reasons for a Salute are two fold a Hand salute is to show you carry no weapons and is given with the Right Hand. which is the normally the hand weapons are held in The other reason you salute Commissioned Officers is to show Loyalty to the Sovereign ie:- The King or Queen who is on the Throne at the time because a Commissioned Officer holds a Royal Commission and is given this by the Serving Monarch to which the Officer swears and Oath of Allegiance to the King and Country and carries out the wishes of the King and Government of the Country. So the Salute is everyone showing that we recognise the Kings Commission and we are all still loyal. So I suggest you read up on the reasons why things happen and it would make your VLOG more interesting and educational.
