Damn what a great game that is. I remember picking it up back in 2015, when I still had my shitty laptop and lots of free time as a freshman in uni. Controls are silky smooth, and that audio cues that follow basically any action of yours never stop to satisfy. And that new game+ mode was lit af. I'm not a guy keen to play such expiriences, but at the end of the game I was sitting with all of the suites unlocked but untested, so I booted that ng+ straight away. That past of silence stuff was amazing, combined with short loading times it made my expirience way more fun that it could be. I really like non-lethal optional routes in games (got Jesus achievment in Postal 2, lol) and it was a joy to play. In Dishonored 2 due to my lack of skill I got detected around every damn corner, and after a few hours of loading screens I just dropped the loading completely and while still enjoyable it wasnt that great of expirience. And on part of stealth genre dying. Yeah, I completely get you, man. I didnt really like new Hitman games, and classics like Splinter Cell, Thief, Metal Gear and Deus Ex are either fucking dead (big sad) or stayed quiet. I'd kill for a new game in any of this franchizes (not MGS tho, theyll make another cashgrab). Sekiro kinda filled the hole for me and horror games tend to be remotely okay with stealth, so its not that bad but still. Shit, thats a lot of text. Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your vid on this game, and your prototype vids are dope as well. Keep it going, hope you get big soon.
Oh my God you totally sold me on this. The loading times in hitman killed me!! I would screw up so much lol thank you man... This game looks simple yet so fun and challenging
I just love the thrill of stealth: maneuvering to not be seen, to decide whether I should silently kill a threat or not, and strategizing about them by observing their patterns. I loved playing hide and seek as a kid.
This War Of Mine uses a lot of these elements created in this game. Such as blurring out the areas your character can't see or representing sound visually.
I know this is an old video. I just discovered you recently but your recommendation convinced me to go buy the game on switch. I ADORE IT! Thank you again. ✨✨✨✨
I never found New Game+ to be too hard tbh, but then again I spent around half an hour on every level on the normal mode so I basically knew all the guard locations and sound "lengths" by heart XD I've played this game way too much, and even though I've done a 100% run on both modes I still have a new thing to come back to. Complete stealth, kill all enemies, kill no enemies, get as many points as possible etc. It is by *far* my favourite game.
Super in-depth video my guy. It was cool to see a much less humor influenced video from you! Loved it! Ill have to dig myself in debt deeper to play this one! It looks awesome :)
Astute observation my man, I went into this video deliberately trying to make it a bit more straight-faced than usual. Hope you dig it if/when you try it out! I don’t even think I oversold it here, it’s a really freakin amazing game haha
Dude, this is one of the best videogame reviews I've seen. Passionate, funny, on point, great editing. As an aspiring youtuber-man myself, this sets the bar really high. Never stop!
so fucking glad i found this video. i was like ‘okay this looks fucking sick holy shit’ so i go to check the price on my switch and FUVK YES ITS ON SALE FOR $5 THANK YOU RABBIT
Based on this review and the countless others, I’m buying the damn thing right now. However, this channel’s review was easily my favorite for its humor, sensibility and production value! Cheers! 👏
I found out about this game, while searching PS store. Saw a trailer and was intrigued. Plus, it was only $10. There is something great about this gameplay. The stealth, gameplay, sounds, animation and 2D graphics.
Finally, someone giving this game the praise it deserves. To me, this game is near perfection in all categories: graphics, gameplay, sound, story. Completed it God knows how many times and probably will get back to it sometime in the future. Still praying for the sequel
Just stumbled across this video and it's one of the most entertaining, well-made reviews I've seen. I've been playing video games for... a few... several... many... decades... and very much appreciate this fresh take. Great work, thank you for the insights and the big laughs!
I really wish they would hurry up and make a sequel to Mark of the Ninja already. I loved that game and NOTHING has even tried to do this kind of 2d Stealth since. I would love a Rouge Lite version or something with a map editor for infinite replay. I've played the original so much that there's nothing in it for me anymore. Even going back on the hardest difficulty after years away from it, its a cake walk because of how much I've played it in the past.
12:25 also very importantly the path of silence means when you move you don't make any sound. Normally you can run but running makes footfall sounds which can get you detected but I played a lot in the path of silence because you can speed through areas without that worry. It's a super powerful feeling.
thanks so much for making this, I don't know why a positive perspective on a game comes as such a shock to me from a youtuber but it does, I'll tune in to see your other stuff to
Watched the video couple months back and just want to say thank you for recommending it. I recently bought it during a digital sale on PS4 and I am really enjoying the mechanics of the gameplay and having a blast. Great video and great game!
You've inspired me to boot this old gem back up. Didn't really like it the first time I played it, but It's been sitting my Steam library for years. Time to pop this sucker in!
Bruh mark of the ninja is one of the only games that I have 100% multiple times and if sips hadn’t made his video on it I never would have known about it
You are a amazing underrated youtuber and I hope more people see how well you put videos together to make a hilarious in-depth look of games as a whole. Keep up the good work my dude!
After your video, I realized how much i love stealth based games again and instantly bought Mark of the Ninja Remastered on steam. This was a great video.
Let's face it... terrorizing guards while in the shadows is the best thing to do in any video game. People acknowledging you as this frightening, unknown figure is, like, the freaking best, man. Path of Nightmares!
This is one of if not my favorite game hands down. It feels so good ghosting around a level or becoming terror for all around you. I can’t help but compare other stealth games to this one, it is just buttery smooth.
Such a good game; I remember playing this game back on the Xbox 360 years ago and I was so excited that a remaster was coming out; It's one of the only stealth games I enjoy after Dishonoured.
You should definitely make a twitch channel. You make really good quality editorials for old and hidden gems of video games, and I personally would love watching you playing these games and appreciate them with you. I dunno if doing that would end up spoiling what you would talk about in your videos, but I would enjoy tuning in for streams. Keep up the good work!
I know I am late but if you want another game that is 2d and almost completely surpass his 3d cousins even with an handicap you should try darkwood. It’s the top down horror perfected. Tho you won’t be happy cause there is no circles of sound and it is actually all you that try to think what there is in that blur. And it is the game that frightened me the most just by atmosphere
When youtube recomended me your spider boi review I thought to myself "...wtf, is march of 2019", but now, after a month of watching everything you have uploaded I can say for sure that you are a good one, sir.
The depth of perception aspect is quite similar to This War of Mine which I liked. You got me sold on this game! I do enjoy games with fast-paced movement, but only when done right which this game clearly does.
When I think of video game ninjas I think of BATMAN anyway great video man your commentary for your videos is really witty and creative and your humour is great man
i used to be OBSESSED with this game, totally agreed with everything you said. The UI is so sleek and really feels empowering once you figure it out. I always took the path of silence gear once I unlocked it since I felt bad about the sheer number of goons I was killing, lol
Shoulda talked about how you can CHOOSE to give up control and clarity by terrorizing your enemies, making them cause a big ruckus but also shoot anything that moves, probably my favourite mechanic from the game :)
Great video again man! If you need that stealth fix, look into Thief Simulator. You can't knock people out in it, but it has some pretty tight 'hide or flight' moments
Veeeery late to the party, but I just recently bought the game on discount, and I REALLY enjoyed the game. I liked that every problem you encounter had a solution, whether if it costs the life of your enemies or not, which kind of reflects my rather pacifist side of playing the game. Which makes it obvious that my favorite path is the Path of Wisdom.
If you ask me, it kind of looks like it was made by Genndy Tartakovsky, A.K.A the guy who did Clone Wars and Samurai Jack. I love it!
I was constantly getting Samurai Jack vibes from this.
it's my dream for this company to make a samurai jack game. like i literally said that first time getting into it
Don’t forget Sym-Bionic Titan!
It definitely has that vibe I thought that too his animation style is underrated 💯
Dexter’s Lab was my first Genndy introduction.
It's "Markov", the Ninja.
