As much as I hate the idea of a Rey Trilogy, this type of villain could be the one thing that would interest me. I know with the Vong people would make tons of comparisons to the books, but I think the Gryssk, who really haven’t been explored much, could give them some leeway to do what they wanted. I’m curious on your thoughts, thank you for your videos!
Shelve her. She's a Mary Sue, not an actual character. She was relatable for 15 minutes in TFA. Then the SW universe bent over backward for her. Super gods are boring.
Characters with godlike powers can be interesting, Atom Eve from invincible is an example to me where she has the power to restructure the molecules of everything (except living things/ around her which is as absolutely insane as it sounds, but she has personal struggles with her relationships and the world is also set up to have other insanely powerful beings that threaten her. Star Wars did not set her up with those kinds of personal struggles and also none of the movies set up other godlike forceful beings that would rival her. They really let her exceed the power level of everything else we've seen and now there's no good way to throw more powerful threats at her that don't feel out of place. They just keep repeatedly writing themselves into holes.
Option A for me is find a way to retcon the sequels. They're such a dead end... shy of that.. Option B Salvage the sequels a bit by revealing that some of Luke's students survived and he had gone to the island to either rendezvous with them and/or act as a distraction. This would help a lot by giving him a reason to be there other than "I give up"... and you could probably get Mark Hamill back to unveil this stuff to Rey and explain why he couldn't risk telling her while Kylo and the Emperor were alive. This would be better if they reintroduce Mara and give Luke a daughter and/or a son who could challenge Rey about the creepy name stealing. Option C (which could work with other two) Lucas's idea of criminal villains would probably be the best way to go. Let her fight criminals or slavers... maybe actually deal with that whole child soldier subplot line they dropped from the prequels. Give her problems she can't just fight/Force magic her way out of. I don't think enough has been done about the ethics of Jedi vs. more mundane criminals. Kylo is dead, thank goodness. Her dynamic with Finn was better and desperately needed more development. But I suspect they'll have trouble getting Boyega back.
Chewbacca turns to the dark side in the hope of reversing Han's death. But in his search for a tutor in the dark arts, a mystery sith captures Chewie and augments him with lazer eyes and claw hands, turning Chewie into a deadly force spider that can wield twenty lightsabers simultaneously. Spider Chewie and Rey have several battles in which half the galaxy gets blown up from a new fleet of Death Stars controlled by the mystery sith who turns out to be Vader's uncle, Larry. Larry used to be a used speeder salesman on Tatooine until he turned to the dark side. Chewie is about to kill Rey when he realizes Rey is not his enemy and together they go on to defeat Larry Vader, after which all the Deathstars explode for no apparent reason but that it looks cool. To be directed by JJ Abrams from the comfort of his couch.
The idea of having Rey facing herself in her Dark Rey form would be a good challenge for her. And even more since we saw that in Rise of Skywalker. As I got it that image of her darkside self was a great talking point leading up to ROS and it might be one of the best ideas ever to spinn on that meeting herself topic. Since many thinks she is a Mary Sue thats really overpowered the one challenge that might be interesting enough for the general fanbase is to meet herself.
Honestly here; we all know only dropping the ENTIRE Sequel Trilogy will get SW forward. It is a dead end. Otherwise: Don't know, don't care. Until a Great Rest, SW is dead to me and ends with Episode VI in terms of timeline. An no, don't care about that Ahsoka series stuff even one small bit.
What to do, indeed. I used to run a _STAR WARS_ homebrew RPG based on Savage Worlds with my own Force rules. The campaign was set in the Original Series era, beginning shortly before Luke blows up the first Death Star. My biggest challenge was coming up with something or someone new for my players to combat. I didn’t want every scenario to be, you see some Stormtroopers, who say, “*click* There they are! Blast ‘em!” and then miss most of their shots. It was challenging even though my characters were not central to the movies’ plots, so I didn’t have to worry about contradicting established canon events. (I decided that the Prequels and the Original Series were canon, along with “The Clone Wars,” and I sampled from the old Expanded Universe as I saw fit. I was pretty sure that the Sequels were NOT going to occur in my game universe.) But despite the much greater freedom I had, and despite the immense size and scope of the SW Galaxy, I still struggled to come up with new challenges that still felt “STAR WARS-y.” Disney’s writers have a forbidding task ahead of them.
Hey Thor, If I was going to push forward having to keep the sequel trilogy in mind, I would pull from history to set up the story. In particular, I would focus on the bronze age collapse and the dreaded foe known as the sea people from the era. My reasoning is that with the New Republic and First Order gone, there should be a breakdown in the systems that run the galaxy, and thus chao would replace and consume routine and order. With the breakdown, some would band together to prey on the weak, raiding worlds and cities once protected by the rule of law to gain dwindling supplies.
@ When Kylo Skywalker (bc his mom is a Skywalker) saved Rey, by transferring the Force to her, Kylo died and Rey became pregnant. Thats why she returned to Tatoonie, and why she buried two lightsabers, and why she named herself Skywalker. It’s the same as Anakin’s mom said, “he was born without a father.”
I’m no fan of the sequel trilogy, but Rey being “a nobody” is the one part of TLJ I actually loved. I’ll never understand why that concept bothered people so much. I mean, who was Obi Wan before he became a Jedi? Who was Qui-Gon? I don’t get why some assumed their theorizing was anything other than fun speculation to pass the time between releases.
What they should have done for the sequels is created a new enemy probably from outside the galaxy . Some enemy that interacts with the force in a unique way. Both the new republic and the empire remnants would have to eventually work together
There was a time when Rey could've been a compelling and likable character, however that ship has sailed, and by sailed I mean another ship crashed into it, breaking it in half sending both into the depths below.
I really wish that if another Star Wars movie is made, they would bring back Finn also Ben Solo/Kylo. They were the best and most interesting characters in the sequel trilogy.
Hey Thor, for the Rey trilogy, is it time to bring in the Yuuzhan Vong or an equivalent outside threat? You spoke of needing a challenge for Rey that isn’t yet another Palpatine clone. Based on the Thrawn we saw in Ahsoka, I don’t think he’s up to it. (EU Thrawn would have been). Or should they create something totally new? Thanks, and have an awesome day.
Hey Thor, here is my Fix for all this nonsense Disney has given us! Love to hear your thoughts! th-cam.com/video/PEAw5fQTkfk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BM-Vb8b6YyBd7MgH
Hey Thor, I’m curious of your thoughts about how they will handle Rey in any upcoming Star Wars movies. How much damage control could they possibly do to her character before it begins to come off exactly like TRoS? Will they have her “pay her dues” so-to-speak and EARN it? Personally, I’d only like to see her return if it also features her demise before the ending.
Hi Thor We all know why TFA ended like it did. Rian told JJ to change his ending, cause he had a better plan for Luke. (a plan that made KK give him a trilogy) How do you feel the chances for the sequels would have been if JJ would have stood up for his plan, and Rian (or preferably someone else) had that positive ending to work with. Up until then I didn't have that much problem with Rey, I even did think that she had som early Jedi training before she was kidnapped, and that was why she could use the force.
To keep scores in polls comparable it would just require multiplying the average stars by 1.25, harder to say how best to condense the available answers... Sucks that TH-cam further limited an already lackluster feature.
hey thor. i'd restart the rankings entirely. gets around the 4 vs 5 limits and enables many who probably never got to vote to do so for their favorite characters.
I say just go ahead with the polls with 4 options and make a brief note in each new battle of the heros and villains video about the discrepancies in the rankings. OR you can just lump D and F scores together to rescore the old rankings?
While I would love to see Heroes versus Villains come back usually the only characters that ever got upvotes were Canon characters I wanted more Legends characters but hardly anybody upvoted those suggestions
Abeloth. Bring back Anakin and Rey assists him in containing Abeloth. A Skywalker in the World Between Worlds and a Palpatine in the real world. That's my only idea on how to salvage this situation.
Hey Thor, are any characters that you wouldn’t want Disney to adapt to live action in the form of a TV show or movie? Having seen the writing coming out of Disney, I’d hate to see some of my favorite characters, like Mara Jade, ruined.
Im not sure that Disney Lucasfilm can do anything other than Republic vs Empire. The fact that they are wanting to focus on Rey again just proves once more that they dont know how to innnovate the Star Wars IP. What Star Wars really needs is a completely clean slate. New characters and new stories in a time period and part of the galaxy where no references, cameos or callbacks can be done. We dont need more Rey, Vader or Ahsoka. The 60 years or so from before the Prequels to the end of the Sequels have been thouroghly explored. Star Wars desperately needs to step away from this time period and everything that ties in to it. But they never will. The name Skywalker is to valuable despite how oversaturated and abused it has become.
What they really need to clear are the slates of escalation. They could tell stories of force users "only in the building" as long as they stop making everything universe ending threats. They could easily do 50 TV shows with 5+ seasons in the relative time period(they need to Retcon the sequels, so nothing post Rey being on the world she started on in TFA) if they would only focus on local economies rather than galactic scale crisis.
"oh, hey, there was another Palpatine level sith hiding all this time in a distant part of the Galaxy" Um, that Star Wars EU 101. That's the whole setup for Star Wars The Old Republic Online (they do it TWICE!) There's ALWAYS another Sith lord out there waiting, watching, planing, manipulating, if not whole Sith cults. And even then, if you actually manage to run out of Sith, there's always some fallen Jedi who will start the Sith up all over again. But, there are ways. There are other villains in the Star Wars galaxy besides Sith. There are Hutts and other criminal organizations. There are corrupt governments and petty warlords. There are planets with monsters. Back in the day, other than the movie, the only Star Wars we had besides the movie was _Splinter of the Mind's Eye,_ a novel about Luke and Leia hunting through a swamp looking for an old relic. You don't NEED every Star Wars story to be some galaxy level threat. In fact, it would probably be a good idea, if Disney ever wants to try reviving Star Wars as a movie thing, for them to start relatively SMALL and build up to a galaxy level threat.
@@Thed538dhsk A lot of people liked Boba Fett before he died. Rey was the main character in a film trilogy and lot of people don't like her. She's the definition of a Mary Sue.
Why not give her a solo film where she helps some new force users find a secret ancient jedi artifact treasure vs some faction of the First order searching for this artifact?
The only way they can get me to respect the character of Rey is if she did end up being possessed by Palpatine's spirit after killing him, and she's losing the internal battle for control and has to sacrifice herself in order to stop Palpatine from returning (again...), destroying herself in the process.

Hey Thor, as a Last Jedi enjoyer I've always been confused by the levels of hatred people have for Luke's portrayal in that film. That it somehow "ruined" his character. Force Awakens had set him up for failure and Last Jedi managed to completely turn that around for me. The parallels to his masters and the ties to classic Jedi philosophy were strong and Hamill gave his best performance of the franchise. To me Luke was the only legacy character that got a proper send off. I'm curious for your take on his passing or how it compares to other Jedi because I felt it was the most emotionally resonant one of the franchise next to his father's. Luke sacrificed himself to achieve something impossible. He turned the tide by outsmarting and not by overpowering. He was able to save his friends, embed fear in the the First Order, and become a canonical legend to children. In addition to all that he got to pass peacefully into the force when most did not.
Heroes are only as good as their villians. I know most people here understand this, but LF/Disney seems to have forgotten this foundational principle of great storytelling.
Hey Thor, do you feel like Lucasfilm is trying to correct the ship with focusing on Rey as a powerful Jedi by how they treated Luke Skywalker as a disillusioned hermit Jedi, instead of recounting his story potentially from the old legends material?
To be honest I think the first step is tone down her power….sayvthe bulknof it comes from the Dyad and now half of it is dead she has been left diminished…. And much weaker so now she is in competition almost with her own students because they are on a much more even footing She struggles to relate because a few years back she was moving mountains
I would like to see Rey turn to the dark side. Its easy to be against the dark side when the Sith have power. But once that great enemy goes away and you realize how many problems the galaxy has, its not so easy to remain dedicated to the light side of the Force. You realize that the dark side exists for a reason and without it, the galaxy is not at peace but rather torn to pieces. It takes a powerful Force user with a vision to bring balance and order to the galaxy. So for non selfish reasons, Rey turns to the dark side and learns how to become a Sith Lord. She must not resist those who would get in her way to bring said order to the galaxy.
I hate to have to say it But I very firmly feel Rey's not an asset to the order How do you solve a problem like Rey? ---- and another rey lyric rewrite... ---- Ooh, ooh, yeah Whatever you want Whatever you need Anything you want done, baby I'll do it naturally 'Cause I'm every Jedi It's all in me It's all in me, yeah I'm every jedi It's all in me Anything you want done, baby I'll do it naturally

Did anyone else notice that he put the word "next" in the title twice?
Make a movie where she gets eaten by a Sarlaac in the first 5 minutes. Also, she doesn't
pull a Boba Fett.
Two ‘next’s.
When you have a character infinitely capable of fighting and winning, then give them challenges no amount of violence is able to solve.
You make her hide on a island drinking green milk directly from a aliens teet
Rey only checks one box, they could make more diverse character take her place. Surely that would be great, right?
My dream come true!
Rey is PREGNANT with Skywalker twins.
Who would be the Father?
@ When Kylo Skywalker (bc his mom is a Skywalker) saved Rey, by transferring the Force to her, Kylo died and Rey became pregnant. Thats why she returned to Tatoonie, and why she buried two lightsabers, and why she named herself Skywalker. It’s the same as Anakin’s mom said, “he was born without a father.”
Finn turning into a complete BA would be worth watching.
Baylan changes the time line
She had her shot, got wasted and eventually forgotten.
“Somehow, Palpatine has returned…again.”
Hey Thor do you think vibro blades should be in the Star Wars universe or no?
The Emperor could return again.
I mean, they've done it before, so they could just go this route again:
"Somehow the Sith returned."
You make her parts of Legends. The Disney trilogy and their TV series, alltogether.
Hi Thor We all know why TFA ended like it did. Rian told JJ to change his ending, cause he had a better plan for Luke. (a plan that made KK give him a trilogy)
How do you feel the chances for the sequels would have been if JJ would have stood up for his plan, and Rian (or preferably someone else) had that positive ending to work with. Up until then I didn't have that much problem with Rey, I even did think that she had som early Jedi training before she was kidnapped, and that was why she could use the force.
They'll probably do the Vong or Abeloth, but bad, using Rey instead of Luke.
I would have suggested X for the polling, but they only do 4 options as well. Heh.
Put her up against the box office, I’m sure it’ll defeat her no problem.
It's pretty simple what we do really...
We decannonise her and ep 7-9 and the acolyte
I say just go ahead with the polls with 4 options and make a brief note in each new battle of the heros and villains video about the discrepancies in the rankings. OR you can just lump D and F scores together to rescore the old rankings?
No challenges, no story
Theres no recovering from this 🐯
While I would love to see Heroes versus Villains come back usually the only characters that ever got upvotes were Canon characters I wanted more Legends characters but hardly anybody upvoted those suggestions
Give her a saber staff (double bladed). That’s it.
Rey truly could've been a cool character, that's all I can say.
Couldn't she STILL be a cool character? If boba Fett could and he barely did anything except get eaten like a schmuck in the OT why can't Rey
@@Thed538dhsk A lot of people liked Boba Fett before he died. Rey was the main character in a film trilogy and lot of people don't like her. She's the definition of a Mary Sue.
@ThanksHermione did you like boba Fett before he got eaten in return of the Jedi?
Do you like Rey?
Why not give her a solo film where she helps some new force users find a secret ancient jedi artifact treasure vs some faction of the First order searching for this artifact?
The only way they can get me to respect the character of Rey is if she did end up being possessed by Palpatine's spirit after killing him, and she's losing the internal battle for control and has to sacrifice herself in order to stop Palpatine from returning (again...), destroying herself in the process.
One of the Snoke clones escaped, rejects the rule of two and is leading a new sith order.
Nah, he is leading the Jedi order Rey destroys because "The force is female".
All they have to do is give her older baby Yoda (Grogu), all issues solved. 😂
Possession by Abeloth.
@@mxvega1097 Think that’s going to happen to Shin.
Hey Thor! A big fan, love your content, just for fun this time, let's just say you're the head of lucas, and you're tasked to find an interesting IP to cross over with star wars, what would you choose?, maybe predator?, alien?, transformers?, star trek?, why and how would you do the crossover?, have a nice day man!

Haven’t seen the vid yet:
Clone of Rey!
The Yuzong Vong is the best way forward with Rey. Since Rey is so powerful, and since the Vong are immune to the Force.
Hell , no , do not mix legends with cannon Let people create their own stuff don't sully legends
Use Google polls if you have a TH-cam account you have to have a Google account. Plus you can add an S tier and redo everyone if you really wanted to. Also do the HK video or another Meme Monday theme will be coming.
All you do. And I repeat. All you need to do with Rey is exactly what Palpatine said he was going to do. He corrupted and took over her body and Rey is effectively dead. Now Palpatine is out skin walking as Rey, pretending to be Skywalker and building up a "Jedi academy" but it turns out some students are going missing as it is later revealed that Palpatine is cornering the students struggling with the dark side to either join him or be absorbed into him.
Boom done
Somehow Palpatine returned again?
Trans Palpatine…

leave it to the Star Wars writers, i'm sure they could have Rey find some way to do the Kessel Run faster than Han ever could.
Her running a Jedi Order? I already told ya, it's a glorified crew
Somehow Palpatine returned again, again.
John Boyega seems to have burned his bridges with Disney with his comments over the past couple years (no matter how right they may have been)
@9:45 - did Mof Gideon ever get ranked?
The only way to fix her is to make her the villian. She is a Palpatine.
She gave Palpatine what he wanted. She ended him, now he is in her.
Heroes are only as good as their villians.
I know most people here understand this, but LF/Disney seems to have forgotten this foundational principle of great storytelling.
Luke Skywalker from expanded universe will destroy rey with ease.
I think someone like Kyp Durran or Jacen Solo/Caedus would have been able destroy her
Any Jedi Padawan could beat her since she only won every battle because the plot demanded it.
@ yeah, I think you right)
Hey Thor, do you feel like Lucasfilm is trying to correct the ship with focusing on Rey as a powerful Jedi by how they treated Luke Skywalker as a disillusioned hermit Jedi, instead of recounting his story potentially from the old legends material?
To be honest I think the first step is tone down her power….sayvthe bulknof it comes from the Dyad and now half of it is dead she has been left diminished…. And much weaker so now she is in competition almost with her own students because they are on a much more even footing
She struggles to relate because a few years back she was moving mountains
What did Finn want to tell Rey?
They had better come up with something beyond good for Ms. Palpatine! They have to top her Grandfather, who lasted 3 trilogy's!
I hate to have to say it
But I very firmly feel
Rey's not an asset to the order
How do you solve a problem like Rey?
