  • CANSLIM is an excellent growth stock investing methodology to start with. this video outlines the basic of the CANSLIM trading system, and how to apply to decide what stocks to buy, when to buy them, and when to sell. CANSLIM combines both technical and fundamental analysis, taking the best from both approaches.
    . CANSLIM was developed by William O'Neil after his study of the best performing growth stocks and traders going back to the 1800s. Each letter in CANSLIM stands for a different characteristic to look for that all the greatest winners from the past shared.
    In this presentation which was for the Dental Investment Group on Facebook I go through each of these letters, how to apply the CANSLIM system, as well as technical aspects of CANSLIM such as buy points, stop losses and sell rules
    C = Current Quarterly Earnings
    A= Annual Earnings
    N= New Products, New Price Highs
    S= Supply and Demand
    L= Leader Versus Laggard
    I= Institutional Sponsorship
    M= Market Direction
    Have a good one!

    Hey Richard, Great presentation. I have a question on the netflix monthly chart you presented @ 26:20 hrs in the video. The price is continuously in an uptrend since 2012 while the volume is in a downtrend since then. What could be the reason for this divergence? Is it due to more and more funds getting into it and theryby reducing the floating stock?

    Great webinar, very comprehensive.
    Is it a good idea to get in when the cup and handle is forming the handle, or like double bottom ? Or do you always let it consolidate 1-2 days after it has finished forming?
    Cheers

    Hi Richard, Awesome video. I notice that the pullbacks happen and you get decreasing volume before the stock will start up again; assuming we have a stock that just had an awesome earnings release on big volume(say +300% volume).... So then my theory is that these institutions have to put their funds to work but over a number of days or weeks. They don't want to show their hands so instead they buy in a range up to a certain total volume (millions of shares). So, what we see on the chart is a pullback and a pause - a low volume and low volatility area...you might call it a VCP. Am I right about this?

    the book is great and you can learn a lot from it, i was still a bit confused when o neil wrote that he didn't know exactly what momentum was and that only stupid people would buy stocks based on their relative strength.

    I'm surprised there's no ascending triangle in your base types for buy points? Would like to know why you left it out? thanks!
