  • I was on vacation last week in France when the Iranian government said yes to a request for an interview with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I flew to Tehran and talked to the President in the garden outside his presidential office. We talked about Georgia, Afghanistan, the U.S. presidential election, the Iranian economy and his own upcoming election and. Here is a part of that conversation:

Iv'e been to Iran. It's a beautiful place with beautiful people. Its a shame that most people can't see beyond what the western media makes it out to be.

Thanks Charlie and the team for keeping a line of communication between the west and Iran.
In time of confusion and chaos, absence of communication has proven disastrous time and time and again.
    Thank you.

I think he should ask the US candidate the same questions...
"How is your economy do you have enough oil?"
"What do you think about Barak Obama?"
"Do you think Georgia was right?"
and I predict the reply would by default be "Russia was wrong to retaliate."
However isn't that exactly what the United States is doing in arabia x1000?

well firstly when an interview is through a translator its difficult to have a direct exchange. However Ahmedinegad's exposure to the west has been mostly through U.N addresses and Al-Jazeera. This provided him the opportunity to express his views to a mainstream U.S journalist.

Do you think a system of government where one man (a king, dictator, imam etc) has ultimate power is better then having a real democracy where the basic rights of every citizen is protected? where no one is above the law?
if yes can you explain why?

Well said ghadeghanha. To undrestand what the Brits & Jimmy Carter did to Iran, one must read the following books: The last Shah of Iran by Dr. Houshang Nahavandi also Clash of Ambitions by the same writer. Also Hostage to Khomeini by Robert Dreyfoss. This book is banned in Britain since its publication in 1983. Check E-bay & Amazon for the Books. A D-notice issued by the Brits since 79 prevents the truth of Mullahs crimes & their so-called revolution be exposed. But Iranians know better.

Exactly. With his speech mannerisms and intellectual level he is better fit to work at a daycare center then interviewing world leaders. Charlie is talking to Ahmadinejad as if he was 4 and at a 4 year olds level. He really thinks he sounds smart when he asks the questions slowly, thinking between words. He seems to always be more interested in and fascinated by himself then the person he's interviewing. Way overestimated. I cant believe people buy his intellectual/prestige interviewer persona.

PS nuclear power is diffrent to nuclear weapons, iran has no plans for nuclear weapons, we only want development and energy from our nuclear facilities.

@ofri75 @ofri75 Please, read history. Since it will take too much to explain and teach history to you in just this little posting, let me tell you that Hezbollah is a paramilitary (resistance) force belonging to LEBANON not Iran and it formed in response to Israel invasion on Lebanon (Surpriz I know that repeating what is meant for the masses to believe it is easier but with a bit of efforts reading Middle East history from at least 1800s will give you enough knowledge to talk and make sense!
