- Welcome to HL's Menagerie! And meet our Porcupine pair -- one of them is a rare albino porcupine!
Porcupines are large rodents with coats of sharp spines, or quills, that protect them against predation.

Beautiful creatures. Never saw the albino. Very beautiful. Thank you for the education as well.
Of course! Thank you for watching
Thanks. Very interesting
Nice porcupine name him whiteie pokey
I want to know more about their story and how you interact with them. Are they sweet, mean, aggressive, do they sleep a lot, why did you end up with them, will you keep them till their death? Do they ever get to go for walks to get exercise? Do they eat good? How long have you had them? Do they get sick when it turns cold? What kind of climate do you have for them when it gets really cold? Is there certain illnesses that they get often or not too often? Have they ever just lost all their quills? Do you hold them? Will they walk on a leash? Thank you so much for answering what you can.
They're actually very aggressive, but as we walk them they get more & more loving! Depends on their mood that day haha!
Funny man! The porky's look a little defensive(well played-fearlessly-with the stick). What is their life expectancy? And do they "shed" their quills? Can their quills be harvested (without the obvious dislodging from your calves)?
They could live up to 10 years & yes they shed quills like we shed hair!
Nice
YOU SHOULD NAME HIM BOB
Thanks for this vid. But, 'll stick with hedgehogs. 🦔
We used to have those too! Too cute
Hey, I’ve seen a dog with a face full of porcupine quills. How is that a myth?
The dog didnt have his stick- and the porkey didnt "shoot" its quills. It simply got too close and the flinch of the porcupine stuck the puppy. The quills are barbed to go in but not come out(ive helped remove "said" quills from a yearling deer's face. It takes some time and there's alot of pain.
🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿
if they aren’t Pets , why do you have them in what looks to be your back yard ? they don’t look like they have that much Meat to Eat and might be a pain to Butcher ?
It’s a sanctuary that he’s opened to educate children. Be nice!
That's not my backyard. I have 20 acres of land for my animals & it's a private zoo. They eat plenty, clearly, or else they'd revoke my licenses. Or ya know, be dead.
