Norma is absolutely my favorite character. I love how strong and loving she is despite having so many bitter experiences in life. I really miss her, why did she had to die.... :( thanks for the upload by the way.
mahnoor sattar I know, her positivity in spite of all the horrible circumstances is a big part of what makes her such an intriguing and lovable character to me as well 😊 Thank you for the comment! And you're very welcome by the way. She inspired me a lot so I'm very glad I finished this video 😊
omg im crying. this is so beautiful. norma has been through a lot and now she finally gets to rest in peace. like i love this so much. everything fits in perfectly.
Thanks so much for the comment :D I'm really glad you like it :) Personally I'm still absolutely heartbroken that she died, cause she persevered through so much. Even though there was so much pain in her life, she never gave up but instead had this incredible resilience to her. And this last season she was finally so close to achieving real happiness. Which of course couldn't work out due to the fact that we KNEW she had to die eventually. But it was still beautiful (and with the ending in mind incredibly tragic) to watch. I sadly couldn't fit all of that into the video, but all of these aspects make her death so incredibly sad to me, cause had we not known the eventual outcome was her death, she could have had a real shot at actual happiness. :(
you're welcome! C: even though we all knew she was going to die, it tore me apart when it happened. i grew attached to her and seeing her cold, lifeless body broke me. yeah, she was so close to achieving true happiness with romero. everything was just starting to go her way, then norman came back home and everything fell apart. lots of people hate norman for what he did in season 4 but i don't. it's always been norma and him. there was no third person, so when romero came in he hated it. he didn't want romero to come in between him and norma. he didn't want romero to take away his mother. he didn't want to pick up the pieces if romero were to hurt her. norma's death was satisfying too. i was expecting norman to actually murder her or for her to get in a car accident or something but no that wasn't the case. norman wanted to die with her. he wanted her to be happy with him, and him only, in the afterlife. sadly, she was the one who actually died. ( seriously, when "mr. sandman" was playing as norman shut all the vents and stuff was perfect )
Yeah, it was very well done, for sure :) And I also think that it was cleverly done to have Norman attempt a murder suicide this way, also cause it's a nod to the original movie. And yeah, it's nice that the show really shows each character's motivations and you really understand why everyone does what they do. Personally I have to say that I didn't really like Norman much, but part of that was probably that we always knew he was gonna kill her eventually. (And that Norma always tried so hard and he didn't seem to really appreciate it half the time). But I certainly get why people like him, too, and it's nice that the show portrays him in a human way rather than a psycho killer way :)
This is such an amazing character study. Especially Norman's last words at the end of the video..."lets take ourselves out of the equation..." Just gave me chills. Norma was amazing and she deserved so much better. Her and Alex both did.
Thank you! I'm glad you think so :) And yes, I thought it was really interesting how 4x02 already foreshadowed the end, cause while they were in the basement at the end of that ep, Norma and Norman had a conversation in which he said things (basically alluding to death being the only solution for both of them to be happy) that were very similar to what he told her in 4x09 while talking about their "new beginning". Once you compare those two, it is so obvious that he's in that same mindset as he was at the beginning of the season, except that by then even more things had happened that made him believe that death is the last option for them. But yeah, it's just so incredibly tragic and sad and I wish things had gone differently. *sigh*
That is exactly right. It's why he should have never been released from Pineview. But sadly Norma could just never say no to him. Although I knew with Norman's mindset it could never happen, but I wanted him to accept Norma's relationship with Alex and just let them be happy...but alas...it just wasn't gonna happen. So tragic either way.
Another amazing video - Norma was magnificent, even though she was broken by everyone in her life - she really impressed me when she stoop up for herself in that s4 episode and said that she is still standing! =)
Georgi Velkov Oh sorry, I somehow only saw your comment now. Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. :) And 100% agreed. Norma was so strong her entire life despite everything that was thrown at her. That's definitely part of why I love her so much.
Well THAT HURT Ina!!! And I am sobbing all over again! I absolutely love this thank you for making it!! It sums up everything I love and loved about this character and the specialness. It's perfect and beautiful
I feel like crying, you really captured her character and everything she's been through so much with this video. The entire story is so heartbreaking, and although she has her blame in all of this too, I'm still just so sad that it happened. They made it all the more heartbreaking, showing how much better she and even Norman were eventually doing once they were apart, and how quickly they both fell once they were reunited. It wasn't as bad in the beginning, but everything they went through in that town just made their relationship more and more toxic because they were both in such a bad place and just kind of fed off each other's angst. Anyway, this was a really excellent song choice and I love the scenes you chose and how you made them all flow together to show how everything came to fall apart. It was really well done.
Wow, thank you so much for this comment, too. I agree about how tragic their whole relationship including her own part in shaping it was and how it eventually ended up being her demise. Personally I wish I could have captured her resilience and optimism despite all of the crap that was happening to her a bit better, but sadly I didn't find a way to incorporate that into this video on top of everything else. But I'm really glad you liked it anyway and thanks again for leaving a comment. It always means a lot to me when someone takes the time to write a quick response under one of my videos, even when it's just a short one. So I really appreciate it that you took the time to write two longer ones where you actually wrote down some of your thoughts about them :)
You're very welcome! There's not nearly enough fanwork for this show so it's even more important to show appreciation when you've enjoyed something someone else made, I think. And I don't know, I think you captured her resilience pretty well, and then kind of showed her slowly losing it as things got worse with Norman and finally ended the way they did. It fit with the song and the tone of the show, I think. It's definitely hard to focus on the more optimistic side of her character when you include her tragic end. But this video definitely reminded me of why I came to love her character, even though in the beginning I found her completely unreasonable. Her later scenes kind of help put the earlier ones into perspective and this video helped show that. :)
+symphonyofthieves That's a nice way of thinking about it. And like I said, I really appreciate it, so thanks again :) And I'm glad you thought so. I agree that the first time watching some of Norma's actions didn't seem to make sense yet, although I suspected some kind of history / trauma there, so I was just waiting for that to be revealed and gave her the benefit of the doubt til then. And when it finally was revealed then, it really all fell into place, just like you said. And I really love that about the show. I don't know if you ever rewatched it, but it's really cool that the writers had clearly already mapped out her character history, at least roughly. So all of her actions and reactions to certain things happening make total sense when you've already seen the later eps and know her past. I just really love when shows have this kind of "foresight" and writers properly develop characters from the beginning and have their pasts influence their behaviour, even when the big reveals haven't happened for the audience yet. Cause this way the characters stay consistent and rewatching is just so much more awesome, cause all these little moments make complete sense with that in mind. :)
I do, it's linked in the description :) And thank you so much, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. And I'm really glad you like it that much :)
modifiedcontent To quote Wikipedia: "Vidding is the fan labor practice in media fandom of creating music videos from the footage of one or more visual media sources, thereby exploring the source itself in a new way.", so by definition, fanvids are MUSIC VIDEOS. As for why it's annoying to you: You may have a different taste in music and that's totally fine. Noone's forcing anything on you here, but you kinda get what you're looking for? First of all, this is a sad video and hence a slow and sad song. If you want faster songs, look for different aspects of her character like humor / fun / crack, etc., but speaking from experience, a lot of songs will probably be rather slow, cause vidders like myself usually try to choose songs that actually fit the content we're trying to create in terms of the lyrics and general atmosphere of the song. So naturally, a tragic character like Norma will be vidded with songs that convey that tragedy. But like I said, if you're looking for fun videos, you can always add that aspect to your search words and see what comes up.
