This is super cool! Have you heard of the sledgehammer dulcimer, or the piano slide log (same instrument)? Sleepytime Gorilla Museum uses it. It's similar to this, minus the ebow and golf tee. They also use a second dowel underneath the string as a moveable fret.

How about playing with a slide? Or even using a crocodile clip on the string to emphasize certain harmonics?

WoW! I researched this because the music written for "The Chosen" TV series uses a drone instrument for special sound effects. I didn't know what it was. You are so cool to make this.

Kindred Spirit. This is Very INOVATIVE and has much potential. Came here inspired by Heilung use of the ravanatha . I Enjoy playing drone ambient to induce trance states. Thank You Brother. Post often with Your musings

Also reminds me of Jack White at the beginning of "This might get loud" slapping together an electric guitar. Check it out if You've not seen it. Basically this type of innovation returns the creative process to each One of us and away from the corporate churn puppets and unaffordable collector copy cat instruments. Check out Heilung

I hear somewhat similar sounds, unfortunately it is called tinnitus for which there is no cure at the present time. No offence old chap.
