I volunteer at Donkey and Equine Haven USA in Celina, Texas. We take in donkeys and horses from kill pens. Unfortunately, we see animals in similar condition often. It is tragic. We take animals of any age and condition and give them whatever medical, hoof, dental and nutritional care they need. Our goal is to find them forever loving homes. Thank you for featuring this donkey. Love your videos! I have learned so much from you!
God bless you for all that you do for these poor innocent creatures. I pray for the day when it is no longer needed and people learn to take proper care of them. The day is upon us when many changes are coming. Now is the time to understand to love on another, especially animals. Those filled with hate & cruelty will no longer be apart of the new world. You may not understand this now, but by 2025 it will be understandable. Benevolent blessings to you 🍀
This is amazing! I would love to know the process of how to go about providing a forever home for a horse or two and maybe a donkey. The majority of our chicken flock is rescues, our two goats were rehomed to us. One was rejected from the goat Mom and the other was bullied on the farm she was at. They are the best. I see a dairy cow, and a horse or two in our future. And after watching Elvis, I am now thinking perhaps a donkey. Our barn is set up for goats only. A horse or donkey would kick right through the metal and metal panel fencing we have in there. I need to see about a seperate stall house made of proper materials to properly house the horse and donkey. God Bless you.
my mom gave me a donkey long ago. rescued from burro ropers. She was wild and scared. We did everything together. She wasn't just a donkey, she was my best friend. Thank you Steve for sharing this beautiful journey.
I'd change his name, not that it's any of my business, but that name brings pain memorise...A loving gentle or cheeky name. Than God Almighty he was rescued
@lifewithlarue3149 - I don't know about love but trust is absolutely the key as Steve has shown many, many times. And he establishes that trust so quickly that it's heartbreaking to think his ability seems to be so rare.
I raised donkeys in Montana for several years. I broke several of them to ride, and our daughters rode them in the mountains where we had our cabin. They were full of personality and loved attention. One jenny we bought as a weanling and had until she died at the age of 25. We took her to many parades, classroom show and tells, and even showed her in a trail class against horses at the county fair. I found them all to be responsive, very smart, and quite trainable as long as you didn't overface them. They are cautious and get an underserved rep for stubborness when really they are hesitating if they are unsure of their circumstances. I'm 80 now and just have two horses, no donkeys, but if I were younger, I'd have another one in a heartbeat. They do need regular hoof trimming and limited pasture availabilty or they will founder.
It is disgusting that this donkey was neglected and abused the way he was. I'm so glad he was rescued and thanks to them and you he is now on a good path.
Thank you to the people who rescued Little Elvis. Steve, your magic is just astonishing to watch in action! Thanks for showing how even abandoned and neglected animals WANT to love and trust and will do so if just given the care and respect they deserve. Well done for saving this beautiful boy!
You don't give animals as a gift, unless you _know_ that the person really wants an animal. In this case, I have a feeling that it was done as a bit of a joke - hahaha - which only makes it that much worse. It led to absolute misery for this little donkey. Both groom and best man are asses (no pun intended), if you ask me. On a different note: Elvis is so cute! I just want to brush him and oil his hoofs and make him all pretty. 🐣🐴 #ElvisSpaDay
Yes, the future owner must to really want an animal, but I think it's still not enough: the future owner should chose himself his animal to make as sure as possible both click together.
Another tear jerker...tears of JOY...lucky Elvis! Thank you Steve, Tanya and Dan and rescuers...hoping Elvis will enjoy the rest of his life. 🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
Previous owners should be charged with animal cruelty. So happy that Elvis found a new home with someone that will love & care for him. ❤ So impressed with the technique you used to train Elvis. Now he deserves a warm bath.
Poor little donkey, such a silly wedding present and just abandoning is cruel, thoughtless, immature, how many more words. So glad Elvis is on the mend and with people who really care.
Poor little guy. Still, at my age, have a hard time stomaching how awful some people are. Glad people like you counter this to a degree. Thank you ❤️🇨🇦
This was an amazing video to watch! To see the changes in Elvis’ attitude in such a short time was nothing short of miraculous! Mr. Young, you are the absolute best!
This was wonderful to watch. Five humans who wanted nothing but the best for Elvis. I bet Tanya shed a few tears along with the owners. The world is a better place with you in it. You need to know that ❤❤
How beautiful that you could help him overcome his fears enough to be trimmed. I hope he'll continue down this path for his health and the financial benefits for his new owners ❤ Thank you Steve, Dan and our trusted videographer Tania ❤

I am so happy that I found your training videos. I have watched so many different trainers trying to learn how to work with my horse better. You are the first one to teach how to train but show your horse love and respect at the same time. It makes all the difference in the world. I have a 20 year old Haflinger that was dropped off on my property last year. I have no idea of his history or what he knows. I have been using your techniques and he is really beginning to learn and respond. I can't thank you enough. 😊

I understand your response but lately I’ve started to believe that animals are awakened souls who are here in part to soften our hearts and teach us to love. Dear sweet Elvis is on a mission! Don’t misunderstand - I don’t want anything or anyone to suffer but truly believing there is a higher purpose and that something bigger is happening really helps me let go of so much negativity and that leaves more room for loving energy. This increases my vibration and therefore the vibration of this beautiful planet. Just wanted to share this in case it helps you too. Blessings.
@lisamclain2549 aw thankyou for your kind reply, as like so many my heart has been broken at the hands of people and iv become so so angry and bitter , im just being completely honest im really struggling not to become completely hateful towards the human race .....I truly belive if the world was left to animals and nature its would be absolutely beautiful, void of animal abuse.Child abuse, wars the list is endless. I know I sound very negative but not all is lost as i also see the people like these rescuers and people who rescue animals all over the world taking care of them. But 9 times out of 10 the animal is in that state because of the human who mistreated them in the first place 😢.......❤

What an incredible transformation in such a short space of time. Whe he relaxed after the leading, his ears were forward and he didnt look half as shut down as he did when he started. The way his head dropped when dan went to grab his hoof was heartbreaking though. Im so pleased he got through that
This was heartwarming to see how Steve in a short time can improve this little guy's life so much. I never knew how donkeys can be really playful until I watched some videos of a happy donkey that seems to be someone's pet. This donkey loves squeaky toys - especially rubber chickens. It is a riot to see him walk on his hindlegs with his latest new toy, squealing with joy and then run in circles making his toy squeak. I wish Elvis will have a happy future also where his personality can grow.

The first and Most Important Step Steve Young made when he First handled the rope was to follow Elvis around , following him in his determination to keep on turning to the right , dragging anyone with him, that alone was THE Crucial step for all that followed, then leading him for a while from the right , it clearly had a mental effect on Elvis ,already establishing a more relax interaction , A New Perspective on humans ...Quality and Grace again.. Amazing that this animal moves at all even with his much improved feet. I can almost feel him remembering old pain as Steve convinces him his world has changed !
OMG I am so excited you’re coming to my area!!! I live an hour from that farm and will come see your Demo of course !! Can’t wait!!! I been making great break throughs with my OTTB thanks to watching your videos! ❤️
Hey!! I’m near Birmingham, Alabama and have donkeys. Great video! For me, donkeys were a bit more challenging than horses. I totally had to bribe, with feed, one of mine to behave for the farrier. He and I both “got it” when I would take away the feed with bad behavior. That and a solid farrier and he is as good as gold now!! Thank you for showing donkeys. So many horse trainers will not even try with donkeys. Well done Mate👍🏻
Steve, thank you for your knowledgeable help to so many animals! Your skills are incredible! I watch your videos daily, and appreciate how you teach the animals and the owners how to handle them correctly! Were you able to rescue this mule to save his life and protect him from further disfiguration of his feet!
Oh, what a sweet little fellow! And I LOVED seeing his little pink tongue licking from the blue tin! I'm so glad for him that this training session worked out so well for him!
Good thing he had not learned to bite and they can cow kick. I have seen way to much animal neglect over my life's journey and been pro-active in calling it in. And you know it continues and is so sad in the year 2024 with so many advantages to learn from folks like Steve and family. There is really no excuse for it given the various social platforms where people can observe, learn or request assistance. I had adopted a sweet little pinto donkey from the BLM in Nevada and she was such a joy to my life.
Awesome job. I cried at the beginning because I could see he was so lost. And then I cried at the end because of joy.!! 😊❤ It's awesome to see Elvis is going to have a better life, now. Thank you Steve and Dan for your patience and good instruction. And for loving these equine animals. God bless you and keep you all safe.🎉❤
Wow. Such a transformation. They just need to understand that you're on their side and can communicate consistently. He's clearly a very sensitive intelligent animal. He tuned into a happy little donkey! Great work!
Elvis seems such a gentle soul - just trying to survive in a world that has not been kind to him. You are God's blessing to him. Great job Steve. ❤

It never stops being beautiful to see a balanced animal after a bit of work done with integrity to the process.
It was the respect and positivity you gave Elvis! I loved this video and happy for Elvis and humans too.
Amazing that this animal moves at all even with his much improved feet. I can almost feel him remembering old pain as Steve convinces him his world has changed !
Thank God you rescued this poor little guy. It is heartbreaking to see how cruelly these innocent creatures are so often treated.
OMG I am so excited you’re coming to my area!!! I live an hour from that farm and will come see your Demo of course !! Can’t wait!!! I been making great break throughs with my OTTB thanks to watching your videos! ❤️
it's very interesting to watch how different donkeys reactions are from horses , and seems closer to poneys
Gott beschütze Euch und Dich Kleiner Süßer Schatz 🐴💚🍀🍃🪔✊🤍💜💝Vielen vielen Lieben Herzlichen Dank ✌️
I just can't watch this. Thank God for kind people that rescue horses. I also have saved a few.
Hey, I managed to watch and it was amazing. What a lovely little donkey. Hope his life is better going forward.
That beautiful horse seems to be worried about what they are doing to his donkey friend!
Is there a way to help this couple take care of elvis and the other animals? A way to send money? Thankyou for helping them. ❤ from washington state
Steve, thank you for your knowledgeable help to so many animals! Your skills are incredible!
I watch your videos daily, and appreciate how you teach the animals and the owners how to handle them correctly!
Were you able to rescue this mule to save his life and protect him from further disfiguration of his feet!
Well done fellas! What a sweet looking donkey. Blessings on the rescuers and shame on the people that put him in that sad state.
Oh, what a sweet little fellow! And I LOVED seeing his little pink tongue licking from the blue tin! I'm so glad for him that this training session worked out so well for him!
Aww the poor little donkey. Thanks Steve and Dan xx
I will be looking forward to hearing how the next visit goes.
Its so heartbreaking 😢😢😢poor little donkey❤ thank you for helping him
Good thing he had not learned to bite and they can cow kick.
😊❤
It's awesome to see Elvis is going to have a better life, now.
Thank you Steve and Dan for your patience and good instruction. And for loving these equine animals.
God bless you and keep you all safe.🎉❤
Oh Elvis you melt my heart ♥️
Brought tears of joy to my eyes too. Great job you all did with Elvis 🥰
Wow. Such a transformation. They just need to understand that you're on their side and can communicate consistently. He's clearly a very sensitive intelligent animal. He tuned into a happy little donkey! Great work!
Poor little Donkey, now the feet are bettet. Thanks for you and Dan, great job❤
People need to be worried that they will be confronted when they neglect and abuse animals.
That actually made me cry with joy. Thanks, guys. You are the bomb ❤🎉😊
Elvis just needed to be taught - now he has the info and lots of love. 😊
Please give an update on him. How is he doing now? I hope he will be saved and enjoying a happy home.❤
Steve did great job for Elvis ❤❤❤ amazing little donkey
It’s very interesting to see how carefully he is using the lick.
Nailed it again Steve, i've learned so much from your videos. That little fella learned two things from you, trust & leadership.
I LOVE donkeys so much, this was beautiful. Thank you Steve 🙂
I must have been a horse person in my last life. This video was so satisfying. You are a godsend, Steve. And Elvis's caretakers are incredible people.
