At this stage, I was not yet twelve and in my first year at senior school. Because I didn't live in the South, I never saw the Company programme with Adrian and Bridget Plass. I became a Christian two years later.
Late night god slot stuff is always interesting in how much little sense I can make of them. I get LWT's Night Thoughts because it's just proselytisation but Company is a bit more vague, seemingly dropping in on a random discussion among community centre workers and leaving it just as abruptly.

Some ITV regions did close down with the anthem (Southern did, Westward, TSW, Grampian, ATV, LWT and others) and others (Thames, Central, Granada, Yorkshire) didn't. HTV Wales closed down with both the UK national anthem and the Welsh national anthem. Unsure about Channel 4. Channel 5 - nope as TV was 24 hours by then.

I am a Christian of long-standing, but back then wasn't, and not yet twelve. In my first year at senior school at the time. I don't see the Christian life in athletic terms, but cricketing ones, and am teetotal!
