Andrew Heywood - Global Politics
Karen Mingst - Essentials of IR
Robert Jackson, Georg Sørensen - Introduction to International Relations_ Theories and Approaches-Oxford University Press (2013).
The ones mentioned by FPSC on syllabus include:
IR - Joshua Gold Stein
I am personally consulting one by Peu Ghosh becuase it has detailed background and theories. For rest, Goldstein's book is good. You don't need all. You just need one which covers all the topics. Almost all books cover all the topics.
For Pakistan Affairs, you need to prepare the knowledge by following the topics and searching the internet. DO NOT READ BLOGS, and inauthentic sites etc.
Books for Pakistan Affairs are provided for general and academic understanding
Pakistan - A Hard Country - Anatol Leivin
Foreign Policy of Pakistan - Abdul Sattar
The Struggle for Pakistan - IH Qureshi
and books by Stephen Cohen.
Don't read complete books just search for the relevant part. Download PDFs and search the relevant keyword in the book for concerned topic.
And sorry, Physics is not my subject. But CSS syllabus has provided recommendations. Check there.
