Love the American Civil War stuff. I understand cavalry soldiers found that prying the spent brass out made these rather unpopular - not to mention the "Weak" rifling! I'm doing a little conservation work on a Mansfield and Lamb cavalry sabre just now. It's an "1864" model from their Rhise Island armory. Thanks for another interesting video - just subbed, too...
I have customers that shoot a lot a Civil War weapons they send it off and get the barrel relined they can pick the twist pattern. Believe some shoot them in competitions.

This was cool buddy ! Thanks for sharing. Hope all is well your way ATB
Slow twist works for round ball! If one could be found to fit.
It's a shame they went with such a slow twist, the design is pretty solid. Guess it's time to get a new barrel fitted or sleeve it lol

That is true, Hoyt relines a lot of barrels. I’m not a believer in altering originals but that’s just my opinion.
Better not to point it up after the misfire, there is still a small chance of hangfire.
I own a Gallagher replica I haven’t shot it yet though.
Me too
What bullet do you use ?
It's cavalry dude, not calvary.
Cavalry is exactly what I said and wrote, dude.
