I was actually thinking along those lines, like maybe side stepping away to the end of the cage while grabbing your eyes to give himself space and a visual cue to the ref that an eye poke occurred. Dropping to the ground instead even though I know Weidman's punch didn't knock him down to it, Silva went down to cover his eyes mostly. I know its instinctual more than anything especially with the eyes being irritated, but I have seen fighters before do exactly that instead of going to the ground, because they probably were afraid it would be misinterpeted as a knockdown and likely lose by stoppage. The way Weidman, his corner and the crowd were so quick to want the declared win, the desperation on Weidman was disgraceful. It looked like he didn't even expect Silva to go down at that moment.

Yeah! I've been wondering for a while if fighters should be made to wear really tight goggles for protection. I'm thinking like Riddick's goggles, but bright, not darkened. It might be a problem for guillotines, etc, but it's so important to protect fighter's eyes. We only get one pair, after all.

The back of head hits were negligible, as some of them look like the side of the head, but the eye pokes were so obvious. The ref had no control over this fight.
Weidman showed his character once again just as he did when Anderson Silva broke his leg and he ran around celebrating. And it was only when he broke his own leg is when he felt bad. He even did an interview with Anderson on his channel weeks after breaking it, where he apolized to him for celebrating. He has cleary learned nothing from that.
We have to admit double eye pokes are very hard to accomplish. The precision and accuracy it takes to to poke both eyes with a 1 2 combo is nuts. In the UFC, if you win the first 2 rounds, you can eye poke your opponent in the 3rd and automatically win. Very tactical performance by Chris

Ive felt this EXACT WAY about Chris Weidman ever since he broke Anderson Silva's leg and had absolutely no regard for his opponent. He's complete trash and the only fights I actually enjoyed from him are the times he got finished for the most part. lol

Regarding Mousasi exposed Weidman years ago for being a cheater and called him out after the fight. He acts all aww shucks about everything, but he's a consumate bullshit artist.

It's was really annoying watching how this fight ended but what was even more annoying was him parading around the octagon with his hands in the air celebrating like he just had a clean win snd actually tko'd someone. He knows that left didn't land at all. All while he's consoling silva at the same time and saying I know I know it was a poke. Then gets on the mic and proceeds to blame Silva. It's pathetic. What is he supposed to do when you just poked both his eyes, stand there with no vision and get knocked out? He covered his face and tried to let the ref know best he could he was compromised. Maybe it's a decent point if its just one eye, but it's both. He has no vision.

The ref should have been taking points, because Weidman had his fingers stretched out the entire fight..Bad ref, and at the very least, Weidman didn't care that hewas poking his opponent in the eyes repeatedly, at worst he was cheating to get an advantage..Two fights in a row with eye poke tko's..The UFC could use the gloves that stop eye pokes, except they refuse to buy them, unless they can purchase the patent..
If he doesnt get bood out of the stadium next fight, the sport is dead to me.
