I didn't want to be a weenie and play Super Baseball 2020 on the Super NES or Genesis Alex. I wanted to be a real "Hot Dog" and play it on Neo-Geo. 8^)

I loved playing this game on snes because I never got a neo geo. It was super fun and had a cool element to it as a baseball game because of the upgrades and all that stuff.
Please keep going this Magnum Opus of yours. It's been five years since the first episode and this series keeps being brilliant. Amazing work.
Great video as always, the colab was a good touch too..this game would be great with net play if SNK ever did their new console.
I love this game. It's probably a top 5 Neo Geo game for me. I've cleared seasons a few times, and always play as the Naples Seagulls.
I fell in love with this one after playing it in a skating rink as a 12 year old, and loved the atmosphere. I bought the SNES port as soon as I could. It wasn't perfect, but I liked it better than the Genesis version, even if it is less complete. The Genesis game was too choppy and had that awful blank green screen transition with every hit. When I finally got a Neo Geo AES years later, I made this one a priority. No matter how old I get, playing this one always feels great, and always takes me back.
So awesome that you brought in Joe for this one. I hope you guys do more of these 👍
The SNES version is actually one of my favorite games on that console. I had no idea it had stuff cut out like the crackers and some jump zones, and even the animation looks better on Genesis. Oh well, I still love it.
It's also missing music.

Crazy timing! I was just watching your older Neo Geo reviews last night only to wake up to this exciting new addition. What a joy this review was even though I'm not all that into baseball video games. All of the witty Futurama references make me wish there was a Futurama themed baseball game.
Thanks, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I tried to make this as entertaining as possible, since in the end it is just baseball. I had plenty of time to come up with jokes and cutaway gags.

A couple QOL issues I have with 2020 is that you’ll always be called “out” in close calls at the plate. Baseball Stars 2 fixed this, and added the little animation for it. The other is that, when powering up, you select from your roster list instead of just automatically powering up your batter, and that can be a little confusing if you don’t know you are currently controlling “Marty” or whatever.

I don't know, I remember playing this on the SNES and liking it a lot. It was a nice fun little baseball game, and the crckers sound stupidly annoying so not having them doesn't bother me one bit.
I agree with this video 100% - I recently made a video discussing this game and others that need remakes. So I'm glad I'm not alone.

[Neo-Alec] I consider the two seasons of The Critic required viewing, especially for Simpsons fans. Mr. Jakes used an Ed Grimley clip in his Ys 3 video, and it's going to be tough doing an animation clip that's a deeper dive to top that.

I love the Neo Geo game for Switch and had to buy a complete copy for Sega Genesis for $9.99 at Half-Price Books.
Usually not the biggest fan of sports games, but I am super curious about trying this game anyway :)

I love thiis game and Base Wars. Of the two though I think I'd rather see a remake of Base Wars as that game has more gameplay deviations from standard baseball and the way it handles pitching is quite novel, but this one is great too and works if you just want a slight departure from standard baseball. I really miss these "fantasy sports" games that we used to see back in the day more often. These days it feels like you only see this sort of thing from Mario titles. :(

Fun Fact: the Neo Geo game makes you sprint faster by tapping A button when stealing bases and such. You wont find this in the manual or on the internet.
I have 2020 Super Baseball for the AES and the extra speed, while running the bases, is mentioned in the manual. To update this response, Baseball Stars Professional and Baseball Stars 2 also references the faster running in the instruction manuals.
@@NeoTurboManiac78 I just checked. It says "the longer you hold the B button down, the faster the player will run", on page 13. Interesting.

I gotta say I never played a baseball videogame and never was interested, I don't anything about baseball apart of some scenes in films and the typical baseball gag episode in some animes like Jujutsu Kaisen. Looks like it has a lot of rules to understand, but this one make me interested in trying.
Never realised how similar it is to Soccer Brawl. Most likely made in conjunction or straight after
1st time I played this game was in 2020, streamed it too. It's a good one. Plays like "The Majors" from Game Gear, but of course with the futuristic extras.
