@JuanManuelARG The melody used here is from a Russian song titled "Деревенька моя" (= My little village). The lyrics were translated by the performers into German to dedicate it to their village Kamyshi which was was celebrating its anniversary.
FELIZ ANIVERSARIO 90 AÑOS KAMISHY ..GLUCKLICHEN 90 GEBURT KAMYSHY DIOS LOS BENDIGA QUERIDOS DESCENDIENTES DE LOS ESTIMADOS WOLGADEUTSCHE..MUCHAS FELICIDADES ....VIELEN GLUCL FUR ALLEN
Wondering if any of these survivors of the Stalin era are related to me. Are they still speaking Volga German or are they speaking Russian? My Grandmothers maiden name was Herber.
@Charles Reichert the residents of this village are the descendants of the Volga Germans who moved eastwards in the early 20th century in search of more land. They settled in Siberia and lived there ever since. In the 1990s, all of the people in these families would speak Russian as it is the official language or the country, business, and school. Just like English in the US or Eng and French in Canada. They would have spoken German dialect too, but to a various degree of proficiency. The older generation would have communicated exclusively in German, while the youngest probably would use German more for in-home communication or when speaking to the elders.
Charles, I too have Herbers in my family. My grand fathers mother was a Herber, they all came from Kind. Shoot, one of my dad's God parents was a Herber!
There's black colors of them white Indian from India looking etc beautiful bibles right and few survivors of Assyrians are right Germans are decended from them
Harold, I cannot speak for the actions of other people. Maybe, the people in the video do things differently because they live in a different country? This video was provided to me by a GR friend who lives in Siberia, and I'd love for everyone interested in the everyday life of GR (Russlanddeutsche) people in Russia to watch it because it's a rare view into the life of a GR village in Siberia.
Since this post, Canada attacked the free speech of truck drivers and recently outlawed personal defense. Maybe Siberia is a much more free land than Canada? Canada is more like Stalin's Russia every day.
@@Alpheccca Now there’s a thought! My husband’s grandparents came to Canada in 1914 from a German Lutheran colony in what is now Ukraine. Their siblings were rounded up and deported to Siberian villages. I have traced some there on Family Search.

Harold Janzen Just proves Germans are more free in Siberia than if they had made it to Canada.
