Varakala's cliff beach actual name is Paapnasham beach. There are 3 small water fall on cliff beach Savitri gayatri and Saraswati Main attraction of varkala is Janardhan Swami temple which is more thn 1000 yrs old
Heena further south are below nice places 1. Kovalam Beach 2. Azhimala beach(Now big Shiva statue at sea shore) near Kovalam 3. Boat ride from Poovar lake to Golden Beach Above all are nearby places 4. Pabmanabhapuram palace(But further south in kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu and on way to Kanyakumari). 5. Kanyakumari(Southernmost tip) 6. Some people never misses Rameshwaram bridge,temple etc, which is also close to Kanyakumari geographically.
Heena, North Kerala also has beautiful beaches and mountains, Try to visit there as well. There are many exotic beaches like Bekal, Muzhappilangad and Hill stations like wynadu..etc you have connectivity from all over the world to Calcut and Kannur airports
Varkala is the only place where Cenozoic sedimentary formation cliffs are found near the Arabian Sea . In 2015, the Ministry of Mines, the Government of India, and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) declared Varkala Cliffs a geo-heritage site . Varkala Beach, also known as Papanasham Beach, it has religious significance. It is believed that a dip in the waters will wash away all the sins (papam) and hence the beach obtained its name. Also, the Samadhi of Kerala's Saint Sree Narayana Guru is situated in this town and hence has become a place of pilgrimage( Sivagiri Mutt). The view of the pristine, azure waters of the sea from the cliff is really breathtaking with coconut/palm tress side by.... .
