For anyone who didnt get the air density thing about the sparkplug: The air offers electrical resistence, the more air between each end, the more power is needed to arc through it. When you increase the air pessure you are basically putting more air in the same space, creating more resistence as a result. A simple way to visualize this is to imagine you need to make your way through a crowd of people. If you need to travel a longer distance through the crowd it'll take more effort, but if you keep making the crowd more dense even traveling a short distance becomes hard work. The same principle applies for electricity that has to travel through an air gap: The denser the air, the higher the resistence.

Now if you ask what's wrong with the DMV, Hert is gonna slap you from wherever he is, to wherever you are. Vegeta style. He will compress the air between you and transfer the slap over any distance. lol, I might be overestimating his skills a bit, but he watches enough Dragonball Z that he knows what's up. If they're stock multec injectors, soaking them in anything or running fuel system cleaner will actually cause them to fail internally. They're a common problem on c4's and should just be replaced with Bosch 3 style injectors. I can't remember if your year is 24lbs or 22lbs. Hopefully I can make it to the next burnyard with my '91 C4!

I love these cars with a passion, especially the late model C4's. I learnt so much about cars on my dad's 94', even how to drive stick! (Still surprised to this day he let me) They are a pain in the ass to work on but definitely worth every bloody knuckle when you're done and get to stomp on the throttle. Keep up the quality content guys, and give us more C4!

I've got a '96 C4 with 115,000 miles on it and I've never had any issues with it. I understand the early Optisparks had issues, but with the later ones , they seem to have ironed the bugs out of them, and nobody likes wrinkley bugs. :)

@@theangryitalian7922 the optispark is suffering incarnate. that era was like a half step up from the 60's. everything back then was mechanical or carbs unless you were filthy rich for an EFI conversion kit that was super picky with fuel, and you had to run 93 or you would get all kinds of throttle response issues. and turbos were black magic on par with shock damping.

@@mpmagnussen anything but a delco or MSD opti is junk, didn't know edelbrock even made optis. i'm in process of hanging a precision 76mm off the front of my car and plan on keeping the opti for now on ~7lbs so we'll see how it goes lol but n/a there is nothing wrong with the optis with regular maintenance.

Odds that the Opti is working correctly are suuuuuuper low imo. They fail frustratingly easily, especially considering the likelihood of this one being a vented opti is low.

If you replace the plug wires you'll wish that you just bought the TorqHead kit for it. The LS style coil packs are super easy to change plugs and wires. Until then get used to misfires with the optispark distributor.

Turning Brakes as far as I know were used mostly in dune buggies back in the sixties and seventies. One of the recent Roadkill Garages is about an old vw dune buggie. It’s helps the vehicle whip around with a bit more control offroad.
Just get rid of the OPTISPARK for a Torque head system or LTx Conversion. Mine has been problem free ever since =) then a Set of AFR heads and a mild cam.
Pull the spark plug on misfiring cylinder and put seafoam or ATF directly in the cylinder to soak overnight. Turn it over the next day to push excess oil out, install plug and give er. The oil will break down any rust in the cylinder or on the rings to restore compression.
THE PARKING BRAKE IS ON!.... you have to pull it all the way to the top then push the button and release it, the parking brake handle can move up and down freely when it is engaged to make it easy to get in and out of the car.
Oh man it’s got the ASR box. That is an incredible pain to deal with. Best thing is convert it with an auto LT1 throttle body from an F body so you can run a manual tv cable and manual throttle cable.
to scan obd1 gm cars all you need is a paper clip to jump the scan port and count flashes. flashes correspond to a two digit code. codes can be stored and the light might not be on
11:43 EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY '96! Cruse control sticks on. I don't trust it anymore. Gave it a shot on a long trip recently, it got stuck on at like 5% throttle so no big deal. I was about to pull over to loosen it but I hit a bump that giggled it free for me. If you fix this on the channel I WILL be watching!

There are more capable tuners the Los Angeles area that would qualify and can tune this car. Like Kevin Lorentzen (dyno Don's son) or Scott Hansen.

The LT 1 in my corvette was junk so i replaced it with a 427 BBC all aluminum. With a 4L80 E trans. Best swap i ever did, big bang for the bucks.
