- Once a year at New Year there is an extended family get together in Gilkey, NC. Family pickers and friends in the extended Bluegrass Family get to together in a family reunion atmosphere. You never can tell who might take the stage.
Here's Bobby Hicks and Hazel Creek to do a bluegrass classic. Hazel Creek is Gary Allen on Bass and vocals, Nick Chandler on Mandolin and vocals, & Eddie Rose on guitar and vocals. On this day Brian Stephens was enlisted to help out on banjo.
Bobby is, of course, playing his 5-string fiddle.
Video is dodgy, but watchable. It was just a get together.
Man, Bobby Hicks is one of my favorite fiddle players. I'm definitely going to be teaching lots of his licks and tunes on my channel. Bobby is one of the quintessential bluegrass fiddle players, and his double stops are awesome
Believe that Bobby started with Bill Monroe. Or Flatt/Scruggs. Then many years with Ricky Skaggs. Thunder. mos60
He worked with Judy Lynn in his younger years I remember him from when they played the Elks up in Seattle during the esrly 70s
