This is exactly why movies these days NEVER conclude the story. They - by design - always make the sequel a possibility and even give a slim hint. Like showing two characters and focusing on one the whole movie, while making the other one likable enough for a deeper story, in a potential sequel based on revenue. Which (to conclude on a positive note) made side characters better than before
You know what's the worst kind of "unnecessary sequel"? The one where everyone just simply *forgets about its existence* Like, I don't know, sequels to The Never Ending Story or The Crow, which are barely even acknowledged. Do you know how bad a sequel has to be if the fandom doesn't argue about it because it simply forgot it's a thing?

@@MicrowavedMedia Toy Story 3 ended on a beautiful note, but so did Toy Story 4. 3 was about Andy moving on. 4 was about Woody moving on. Toy Story 5 sounds unnecessary, but the franchise hasn't let me down yet!
I'm speaking from experience, and I can say that there is a very easy way to make a good sequel even if it is unnecessary (mostly for big franchises you like/make yourself). Here are my tips for effective/great sequels to unnecessary stories: 1. If it's a sequel with a different story to the first, make it different enough while somewhat mirroring the original's story and themes (the key word is MIRRORING and not COPYING everything like most of if not all of the sequels now). 2. If it has new characters with similar protagonists' roles to the first, create unique backstories and arcs for them as if they have their own story to tell that's not connected. Then create one that must make sense and sound interesting. 3. If you want a good new villain on par with the original, start off by trying NOT to surpass the first. Make them different enough but still threatening in their own way and connect them to the first (again in a way that makes sense). 4. How many years does it take place after the original and how is the setting impacted by the original story's events? This can be a great point to introduce and make a new villain. What do they do that's a huge enough introduction? 5. Set up the plot with a flashback introducing the new threat then introduce the new heroes and their situation before their journey. From there, establish the new events and story with subtle references to the first story's events. 6. While laying out the new plot, bring in some heartwarming moments that reference the old characters' current situation and how they are currently doing. If they don't have much left, bring them in the final fight or kill them off. 7. Even if you don't plan on making more sequels, establish a moment where the characters accomplish their goals, maybe celebrate a little and establish what they are doing now, which would be an easy set-up for a new sequel. 8. KEEP FOCUS ON THE CURRENT STORY'S UNIQUENESS!! If your plot mirrors the first, it should feel like a similar story to the first but with unique twists and turns that could be on par with the original story. It's likely it probably is! 9. Finally, don't be afraid to ask for feedback if you make stories like this a lot- especially from your family! The people who best know your talents will know if the direction you're going is right. Ask for input and criticisms- they help! And that's my sequel tips! And for those of you who watch my channel, this may or may not be building up to a few really cool ideas in mind for future videos. And before you ask, yes, I actually do write stories with this kind of effort/formula and I'm having fun all the way doing it! If you guys found this interesting, tell me what you think!!
Unless it’s a prequel, I don’t think that’s possible considering how 4 ends. Even then, it feels like the creators are done with it as it ended great. …Really hope it stays just 4.
Tbh John dying is good and that death scene is fantastic but I do feel like the story feels a little unfinished. I really do want a fifth movie so he can take on the high table and take them out. If he died again after that though it wouldn’t have as good of a punch because of the fakeout so that sucks

or a requel. the requel, focuses on new characters while also sometimes bringing original "legacy" characters back to transition the story into its new realm, a passing of the torch so-to-speak. like for example Creed is a movie in rocky 4 universe(rocky 4 was supposed to be last one in rocky movies), but instead of following rocky, it follows the dude who dies in the ring at rocky 4. and thus requel gives good place for sequels/prequels since if universe dying is considered win, then how about a requel which follows the thing to who universe dying is considered a lose and from there you could spawn prequel from the requel to answer the question: why this thing who caused universe to die, do whatever it did on the original film? As a requel, Creed takes parts of the subplots from the original franchise to create a new path and thus, new characters, each charting their own course in the overall story but still intimately connected to old. The Matrix Resurrections stands out as a requel in that not only does it use its legacy characters to continue the story from the previous films, but the story itself is literally about a re-telling of those characters through a different lens. Not to mention, new characters are introduced that fit seemlessly into both the previous trilogy's storyline and the new one.
The first thing that came to mind is that they stopped a great evil force that comes around every big bang, and they somehow defeated that force so the next time the universe is remade whatever forms of life that inhabit that new universe don’t have to worry.
My favorite example of this is "A Better Tomorrow" where Chow Yun Fat's character was killed off in the finale. He wasn't the massive action star yet and was 3rd (arguably 4th) star and a supporting character, but the movie was a huge hit and he was extremely popular in it so they made a sequel and wanted to bring him back. Except his character is pretty definitively dead and this is a gritty crime drama not a sci-fi movie, so how can you bring him back? Well it turns out that his character had a heretofore unmentioned twin brother living in America, who, despite being a chef, has exactly the same gun skills as his HK mobster brother, and can slot into his role so everything can happen again. They even have him put on his brother's clothes later in the movie just so we understand it's basically the same character. xD

He is just telling butterflies on his eyes and Whisky makes fun of him that way plus Harry's intuition of lying. He does remember by Eggsy talking about Mr. Pickles. A connection from the first movie which was like not half of the movie. Half of the movie was them in the snow. If you're talking about both Harry and Whisky got revived so easily then yes it is silly. It is explained in the movie but it is silly.
I noticed. But surely, being able to pull this off in a satisfying and thematically relevant way is one of things that makes the first movie such a great one.
alternative would be eternal prisonment for the universe, without life for themselfs, just to exist to make power for higher beings. if whole universe dying was considered winning, you have to think how badly it could be if universe would have lost.
It's probably meant to be a parody of the end of breaking bad. Sure, walt dies in the end, but after 2 years of building a huge and successful drug empire he never gets punished and dies on his own terms. You could say walter won
Final Destination series almost had this sort of thing happen, the first 2 were great, then the 3rd and 4th weren’t so good (still worth watching tho), and like half the fandom left after how bad the 4th one was, somehow they dropped a fire 5th movie instead of continuing to spiral down, the plot twist was good. If you don’t mind being spoiled, it’s that: (It’s a stealth prequel, it’s actually a prequel to the first movie but it doesn’t reveal that until the end. They even left details that foreshadowed that that a lot missed, and the reveal? It was fire. They had the Main Character die in the same plane crash that kickstarted the first film.)

You know what's the worst kind of "unnecessary sequel"? The one where everyone just simply *forgets about its existence*
Like, I don't know, sequels to The Never Ending Story or The Crow, which are barely even acknowledged.
Do you know how bad a sequel has to be if the fandom doesn't argue about it because it simply forgot it's a thing?
Right? Like that's the Canon of the universe but people don't care enough about It to even acknowledge it exists
it might be an achievement, though. Like, people don't even *complain* about it, nor pretend that it doesn't exist: they simply erase it from memory@@littlemrsmods7998

This is a certified Toy Story 4 (2019) moment
Toy Story 4 was fire though
@@mimikyutubesaltaccount4875nah it sucked
@@mimikyutubesaltaccount4875I agree, it was good but toy story 3 finished on a beautiful note
@@MicrowavedMedia Toy Story 3 ended on a beautiful note, but so did Toy Story 4. 3 was about Andy moving on. 4 was about Woody moving on. Toy Story 5 sounds unnecessary, but the franchise hasn't let me down yet!
wait wtf toy story 4 was made 2019???
I'm speaking from experience, and I can say that there is a very easy way to make a good sequel even if it is unnecessary (mostly for big franchises you like/make yourself). Here are my tips for effective/great sequels to unnecessary stories:

Just be glad it’s not a remake.
Or god forbid, a reboot!
@@WilsTube I probably would have preferred a remake or reboot, tbh.
or a requel. the requel, focuses on new characters while also sometimes bringing original "legacy" characters back to transition the story into its new realm, a passing of the torch so-to-speak. like for example Creed is a movie in rocky 4 universe(rocky 4 was supposed to be last one in rocky movies), but instead of following rocky, it follows the dude who dies in the ring at rocky 4. and thus requel gives good place for sequels/prequels since if universe dying is considered win, then how about a requel which follows the thing to who universe dying is considered a lose and from there you could spawn prequel from the requel to answer the question: why this thing who caused universe to die, do whatever it did on the original film?
As a requel, Creed takes parts of the subplots from the original franchise to create a new path and thus, new characters, each charting their own course in the overall story but still intimately connected to old.
The Matrix Resurrections stands out as a requel in that not only does it use its legacy characters to continue the story from the previous films, but the story itself is literally about a re-telling of those characters through a different lens. Not to mention, new characters are introduced that fit seemlessly into both the previous trilogy's storyline and the new one.
@@PrimePalYT All the “legacy” characters died! A requel wouldn’t work either!

Bro watching this after seeing a video talk about Joker 2 😭😭
They even have him put on his brother's clothes later in the movie just so we understand it's basically the same character. xD

Am I the only one wondering how he "won" when the whole universe is dead and he himself died?
I noticed. But surely, being able to pull this off in a satisfying and thematically relevant way is one of things that makes the first movie such a great one.
I think by in the universe he meant all the major characters in the world of there story
alternative would be eternal prisonment for the universe, without life for themselfs, just to exist to make power for higher beings. if whole universe dying was considered winning, you have to think how badly it could be if universe would have lost.
It's probably meant to be a parody of the end of breaking bad. Sure, walt dies in the end, but after 2 years of building a huge and successful drug empire he never gets punished and dies on his own terms. You could say walter won
@@Triplane1234 that's... debatable
Megamind 2:
Final Destination series almost had this sort of thing happen, the first 2 were great, then the 3rd and 4th weren’t so good (still worth watching tho), and like half the fandom left after how bad the 4th one was, somehow they dropped a fire 5th movie instead of continuing to spiral down, the plot twist was good. If you don’t mind being spoiled, it’s that:
(It’s a stealth prequel, it’s actually a prequel to the first movie but it doesn’t reveal that until the end. They even left details that foreshadowed that that a lot missed, and the reveal? It was fire. They had the Main Character die in the same plane crash that kickstarted the first film.)
