    The whole point of design x is it’s capability to generate accurate primitive shape and profiles under .05mm , I don’t know how it is essential without these

      Hi Kanthi, we rarely use the primitive shape features in Design X because you don't have as much control as just building the sketches and then creating the primitive. For example if you fit a cylinder through the 3D scan data you are not guaranteed that the center axis is perpendicular to the top surface. If fact, almost every time it is not perpendicular. You are better off finding the center axis and then axis constraining it to the top plane, creating your sketch and then doing a revolve.

    I think it’s more like they can’t afford Design X or will never get the money back with their work.

      As they say you get what you pay for. Design X is by far the fastest, most accurate and most powerful tool for reverse engineering. And yes the most expensive. Think of it as the Ferrari of RE software. If you are in the RE business you really need Geomagic for Solidworks, Design X or Design X essentials.
