I have Tourette Syndrome as well, and it can be very hard. I have coprolalia which is the swearing bit as well as just noises and random words.
I also have physical tics which land me in a wheelchair sometimes because they can paralyze me, or just wear me out to the point I’m physically unable to walk.
It’s hard when people don’t understand that I can’t help it and worse when they say I can’t be in their restaurant or place of business because I’m too loud or I said something offensive. I’ve even had a preacher pray over me to beg god to take this away from me… which was uncomfortable and I didn’t ask for it, he just came over and started doing it.
However these things don’t happen very often and I’d like to say that Tourette’s as a whole can be fine. It’s not a horrible disorder. It can be challenging but the best medicine for it is awareness and acceptance. Accommodations when needed are obviously helpful too!

Thank you for sharing your story! I haven’t yet been professionally diagnosed, but I have been experiencing tics for about three years. They only started worsening about a year ago. Just kinda blew up, and went from minor tics that were barely noticeable, to complex motor and vocal tics in roughly the span of a week! Although it fluctuates quite a lot, and usually isn’t in its more extreme state, videos like these help me when I am having a rougher experience with it. I am truly grateful to be living in a time where there is much more understanding and acceptance over the disorder, and where I don’t feel the need to hide it away or feel ashamed. People like this girl here are the ones that keep me holding on strong. Lot of love

I have this as well, but on a minor scale, mostly a head tic. I worked with a man who had an extreme version of it. He was painfully aware. It seemed the more he tried to repress it, the more it would manifest, especially when he was stressed. I could be totally wrong, so don't hate, but I say don't fight it. Don't care what people think. That may help reduce the stess.

I clicked on this so fast. Hearing other peoples stories makes me feel not alone. I have tourettes as well and some days are worse than others. Its painful and tiring when they're really bad.
I am always afraid that people are gonna think bad of me, especially if I'm mumbling and making punch motions into my hands and saying "punch the people" barking, saying there are dogs, saying there are people, ect.
I agree, laughing with us is ok ! Being understanding that we cannot control it n such. Very different from laughing at us.
Replying to them sometimes is fine for me because it makes me more comfortable and I'm less afraid of it being awkward or uncomfortable for either of us.
But if I am clearly stressed out or they are oncoming, I would usually prefer to be alone but understanding and being chill and letting me know that its ok is the best feeling for calming down.
I do hope they do not get worse as I get older

I never quite understood exactly what people with Tourette’s go through on a daily basis until I was given a similar diagnosis within the last 6 months. I have what’s called conversion disorder and was diagnosed following a hospital stay after going through so many seizures.a few years ago. It’s a neurological disorder and one of the symptoms besides non epileptic seizures are motor and vocal tics. I’ve also had symptoms of selective mutism, dystonia and not being able to walk well or at all. Like Tourette’s there’s no cure but can be managed through medication.

Steroids do awful things to a person. I found out I have Crohn's disease and the immediate treatment of steroids were started. 50# later in a few months I felt so fat. I didn't feel responsible for it but it did make other's think I'm just an overeating slob. That was very hard to deal with. No that I'm older the steroid damage is awful. I now have severe osteoporosis that requires infusions and daily injections (when I can afford them-$300/co-pay a month so nope). I've broken a few bones in my foot and ankle just from walking across the yard. Please make sure your dr's are keeping an eye on your steroids levels, extremely important, and hopefully you'll fare better than me. When I lost weight I'm left with the pain and people's snide comment's of, "Ya don't look sick", which is also hard to deal with. So you go girlie, I wish you all of the best! Hugz, Tree

Yeah my Mum has crohns too. I also had steroids when I was little so it's just made my osteoporosis worse. Luckily I'm on 2mg now but unfortunately the doctors aren't listening to me. I've already had to get an airboot for the heel fracture that they didn't treat when I was little which has reopened. Wishing you the best

I have rheumatoid arthritis and I’ve taken steroids (prednisone) a lot over the years and you can tell when I’m on them in past photos because my face is quite full, too.

Same illness...RA is hell. I had Cushing syndrome 6 years ago as a side effect of steroids when had a flare up...I recommend trying ZAMEN Deflazacort instead of prednisone. It will take the pain and inflammation but will not make you look puffy.

I have osteoarthritis and the doctor prescribed steroids. I was researching, learning about steroids. The side effects scares me a lot. So I do not take them.
Other doctor give me no steroids pill , take it only when necessary.
      I hate to take medicine!

@@vcassol6989 luckily, I’ve not had to take prednisone for a few years. If I do, I’ll DEFINITELY ask about your recommendation. Prednisone sucks.

    • @tieiatalks
      @tieiatalks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@ditta8416 I take them at last resort. If you’re in a flare and you’ve tried everything else, you need to take something to reduce the inflammation because if you don’t, you will have even MORE joint damage.

Wow, this was such a strong story, what I carried of this video into my mind? Every person is different, there are practically not two same persons, and don't be ashamed if someone laughs you. This girl is very brave to tell it to the public. And she is cute.
I am also different person, and I can realise, that my brain is working on different level. I have got just problems with my spine, sometimes I can't turn my head, when sitting at the chair for a long time. Seven hours at school are for my spine horrible, and I have also eye blackout, sometimes I can't see correctly, what is 2 meters far from me.
But that is just my story, anyway, this girl is big inspiration for people with same disease.
Fight, girl fight, and enjoy your life.
Greetings from Czech Republic, Jaroslav B.❤😊👍
