I always feel that "Screaming" was out of it's time, ahead of it. This could easily be a song of the "Unseen World" era. With the frentic guitar, the menacing bass, machine gun drums and the wild back and forth of the vocals, it almost has a bit of "Black hole" in it.
I've thought that a few times, too. I think the song was something like a test run to see how the reactions are. They probably knew that it might be a bit too different from what they had done before, which is probably also why it didn't make it onto the album at that time. Who knows. Maybe Kanami just had a bad day and needed to let off steam. 😂🤘🏻 ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 --- from *BAND-MAID* 'Warning' 🕊
@@UltraHD.7 Then it's getting damn difficult, isn't it? On the other hand... No, I simply can't wish those puppy-dog eyes a bad day for anything in the world. 🤭
'Screaming' is one of those Maid songs that sound as if they have four or five songs left over and decided to squeeze everything into one. It really shouldn't work but it really does. From the backing vocal from Miku, the drums, the guitar refrain that is like 'British band Jam's 'Eaton Rifles'. Misa's bass and the wonderful singing. Unique band that sounds so old school.
Well, that really was controlled chaos. A term used to describe some Band-Maid songs. But this one takes the biscuit. So many frantic sections but all held together by the remaining members not involed in the franticness itself. There were warning sings early on of what might be coming with Saiki's vocal lines. Then Misa's bass lines, followed by Kanami's solo then that monster of a drum fill by Akane that just kept on going. Shear bloody genius. I just checked, and although this is quite an old song- 2018 they still did it live in 2021. So here's hoping.
Saiki was so cool on several occasions, in the way that she obviously sang down to individuals in the audience, with her eyes and by pointing at them. As well as the board sweeping gestures to the whole audience. A complete belter of a song. Or perhaps I should say 'Screamer' of a song. This whole concert is utterly fantastic.
@@GlassMoonGaming Good news! You are going to love it! There are a few more out there. The limited edition to the single 'Start Over' comes with a DVD or blu-ray of the Zepp Tokyo gig. Considered by fans even better sound quality than Line Cube. You may have to re-morgage your house to buy a copy! I paid £250 for mine (new). Then there is the limited edition of the 'World Domination' album. This comes with DVD/Blu-ray of their Studio Coast gig. Considered by fans as their best for sound quality and a great set list. Again not cheap, but cheaper than 'Start Over'. Both available from e-bay Japan.

This song is a good example of what Kanami means when she says Miku frees her to play other parts. Listen to Kobato in the opening bars; she's framing the chords and giving body to the sound while Kanami is playing her frantic guitar line over it. As shrill as this song is, imagine it without that density in the middle.
@@GlassMoonGaming I bought it mid-2020. I'll be interested to know if they started adding English subtitles later. Swore I would but it again if they did! 😁

Thanks for the replies and info, guys! And yes, Kanami's bad days are AWESOME for music!
...and the middle part (solos) is played blindfolded during the rehearsal! It's on YT.
That's crazy and damn impressive!
"Screaming" ALWAYS sound amazing on stage. They have a lot of fun playing it, always.
They sure seem to enjoy it! Me too! Thanks!
The trifecta concert openers RINNE, BLOOMING AND SCREAMING. What a way to go.👍👍
Nice!

The first thing I thought when I heard 'Screaming' for the first time was 'Eaton Rifles'! It's the same riff! I much prefer Screaming though!
Nice descriptions! Thanks!

It was one of their most memorable fast pace "fanatic" songs before Different released, love it!
