Looks like a great book for C&C. Gorgeous map! Cheers for the pagethru and thoughts. One thing I found interesting is the recommendation to have two characters per player. Lovely old school modes of play in action. …and that bundle is far from humble! 😁
I like a denser layout like this. As much as I like the Mongoose Traveller books it's easy to see they could fit twice the information as they do with all the blank white parts and large print blocks. Many other "modern" layouts do the same, fitting the same info in a 250 page book as you'd find in a 90 page TSR softcover.
As far as I understand, the reprint is it. Of course, I could be completely wrong but I don't think there'll be a "reforged" style. It's possible there's only so much Troll Lord Games is allowed to change from the original work. The layout isn't terrible and it's in line with the vast majority of the Castles & Crusades supplements and adventures. ~ Jeff
I bought this when it was first released. I even have a signed copy of one of the accompanying gazeteers. Likewise, I backed the reprint Kickstarter to get more Gygax publications. I just have to say, with all respect to Gygax and the Trolls, this book is bland (even by the standards of the day). Brigands, elves in the woods, orc raiders on the outskirts. Tax rates, hairstyles for women based on their class, taverns that sell exactly what you'd expect. This doesn't feel like it has the same level of wonder as Necropolis, Tomb of Horrors, or Temple of Elemental Evil. It's like a vanilla, medieval city with details that would interest someone running a historical simulation. It's not for me, and likely not for anyone expecting Gygax at his peak creativity.
I am very pleased that it is Troll Lord Games month. ❤
Yeah... this is surely one to buy. :-) I might grab that Humble Bundle, as well... but I like dead trees best. ;-)

Missed it the first time it came around, glad they reprinted it so I can pick it up now.

It's solid; I'm definitely going to get Zagyg when it's released so I grabbed this for the setting.

Gygax could not do names to save his life, they all sound so juvenile. Hard pass from me.
Or you could just change the names as the content and concepts are very inventive. 😊
