Thanks Dale for an informative video with a sprinkle of confidence building. 😁
As one who is starting over, I feel that my preps are way behind the curve, but this video is making me see that I do still have quite a bit still around because of the full time traveling experience.
My Jackery saved me once again this past week when having to deal with power being out for more than 3/4 of my apartment for almost 5 solid days.
Thanks for all that you are doing to help the us at the online community.

Peak watts for a refrigerator and freezer can be 3-4 times higher than running wattage. That means that even though your refrigerator and freezer run on 700W, you can’t get a 700W running wattage generator. Yes, such a generator might run a fridge, but it won’t be able to start it up. You’re going to be left with a too-small generator and a flooded fridge. Purchase a generator accordingly.

Thank you, 600 w will not work 😂 I hope nobody believes him and buys one...it can be used for lights and charging items 🤔

I would add, that some of the choice will come down to your location, if you live in an area with very little sunlight (like here in the UK), then the solar generator will drop down the list and maybe a fuel generator would be a better bet.
I would also spend some of that money on buying "survival" how to books, learn from other peoples experience, and unlike the internet they will always be there for you to reference.
Education is the biggest part of prepping and videos like this break it down for newcomers, making it a less intimidating subject. Well done

The books may not always be there for you , depending on what occurs. Learn from those books , , practice knot tying after dinner . Make after dinner prep / survival skills/ self defence learning time . I watch rope tying videos and they look easy until I have a go, it takes a few goes over a few days to get it locked into my memory. .practice the bushcraft technique's. Starting fire , looking for flint / chirt ,giving it a go.
When you actually give things a go it's a real learning experience.
I want to build up my strength especially my grip , remembering having fought over things in the past or being able to defend oneself is so important.
(Sorry just having a late night ramble )

@@juliefall2892 I think the books will be around a lot longer than the internet 🙂
At worst case, you can scan / photograph them and stick them onto CD / flash drives and access them on a laptop.
But i do agree, that it is pointless to just have the books, you need to actually read them and practise what's in them.
Get a tennis ball and squeeze it to build up your grip. I would also practise your running as that is the best form of defence - get out of there 🙂
Never be sorry, this is how we learn

@@Lee_Proffit Thank you Lee , for all your great advice , I will get a tennis ball ,and yes running away , I will practice that too.💖

Great video. Covers many things I have experienced in my years of prepping and believe. Expired food has been my biggest enemy. My wife agrees with prepping, but is not as experienced or anal as I am about it. My wife is hit and miss with using the preps, restocking and rotating them. It may sound selfish, but going forward and if I was going to start over again, I would just store foods I consume regularly and then if SHTF, she can consume my favorites, sorry, sick and tired of throwing food out. My favorites rarely expire and if they do, they re foods I am fine consuming past expiry, coffee, peanut butter, etc. For water, I have a few hundred liters of water in my basement, a Faux Berkey and a pool with 35,000 liters of water. No extra storage required and it is dual purpose. For cooking, I have the 15,000 BTU Gas One which has the option of the 1LB propane hose and I also got the hose for the 20LB propane tank, of which I have 8 full on my property. Also my BBQ is natural gas, so good to go. I got a 6,500 watt tri fuel generator and an Ecoflow Delta with panels. Even with all this, I feel I have made mistakes and feel less prepared than I'd like to be.

Agreed. I can't tell you how much I threw out because I focused on shelflife rather than if I would eat it.

Yes , prepping for years and have lost much unfortunately .
I agree I now mainly get rice and pasta, this is about long term survival , depending on what the circumstances are , imagine having to leave a ton of food for the enemy.
      Or Thieves.
Short term, i think tins are best for keeping low key and it's already cooked , so eating cold baked beans from a tin won't attract people . But cooking can send out attractive aromas into the neighbourhood.

The dates on your food are Best by, use by, sell by. They are NOT an expiration date. Look it up on Google, even the military has determined that the foods are perfectly safe unless you notice a problem with the can or the odor. Foods do not magically go bad when that date rolls around. Some foods are good for many years after that date. I recommend that you do a little research so you will feel better about using them. It's all about common sense and good judgment.

$200 is ridiculous to recommend for a person starting out to spend on a bug out bag and its contents. I have watched many many videos on the subject, and most of the items you will be putting in it are already in your home. Many others can be picked up for just a few dollars at discount stores, flea markets, the dollar tree, and walmart. You are right about upgrading as you can. The important part is to start somewhere. I would recommend a $50 challenge including the bag. Also it doesn't have to be a backpack. Just do the best you can with what you have.
