Crime and Punishment was a blind buy for me also, but it was truly only a half blind buy since I have other creations from Ensar, this one is in his top two, if not #1. Great review guys!
This smells absolutely beautiful in the air also, I left the house wearing it and a breeze struck me and I got this beautiful waft of tropical florals and raspberries. It took me a while to get my head around it.
I purchased a bottle of the pure parfum and it is wonderful. I have worn it a couple of times and now I am letting it mature for a few months to see if it improves. I also got samples of Tigerlust, EO #1 and EO #2. I never thought I would spend that much for a perfume, but now I am thinking seriously about purchasing a bottle of Tigerlust. To me, it is every bit as great as Crime & Punishment. There are definite similarities between Crime & Punishment and EO #2, but there are definite differences. I prefer Crime & Punishment. I also received small samples of Siberian Musk and pure Ambergris.
@Keith Monthomery, can you please provide more info regarding comparaison between C&P and Tigerlust, as I am thinking between these 2 and cannot decide. Everyone talks how both have heavy dose of musk and ouds, florals, spices... I just cannot imagine the difference between the two and cannot make a decision which one to buy. Can you please help?
I love Bortnikoff and Areej Le Doré and am waiting for my .3gm sample of Sultan Leather Attar by Ensar Oud. I've been debating on sampling Tigerlust by Ensar, also. I'm in the U.S. and Luckyscent doesn't have Crime & Punishment. I'm also waiting for Prin Mriga sample as well. As for Sultan Pasha, I've yet to sample any of his work. Great video as always thank you.
I was waiting for a proper review on C&P. I have EO1 & EO2 in edp and I was on the fence about getting this one afraid that it would be too similar to the previous ones. Thank you for guys for your impressions and I’ll get a sample of this ASAP!
You must try Teone Reinthal perfumes, all natural and every bit of quality as Ensar, Areej and Bortnikoff, who are my top favorite houses... All four of them. Ensar is a master and his EO1 is perfection. Tigerlust is a masterpiece.
"Pagan Oud" is amazing, "Cocobolo" is my personal favorite, "Garden of Pleasures" is very similar to Areej Le Dore' s Walimah... "Bulgakov" and a new creation "Cernunnos" are two that I have not smelled but want to have... Dr. Reinthal is equally as masterful in her distillation and blends as Ensar, Russian Adam or Dimitry Bortnikoff. My all time favorite is Cocobolo. Try that one if possible, if it is still available. You will love it. All natural, classy, and lasts all day.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Ok, so now I have tried both Bulgakov and Cernunnos..... those are the ones you must sample. No, you must get a full bottle of each. Bulgakov is rich and sumptuously sensual. Cernunnos is cool, laid back, like a James Bond wearing all black fine Italian single breasted suit, sitting at the bar eyeing the drop dead gorgeous lady sitting at the other end, knowing that she will be waking up in the hotel bed the following morning wondering where he went. I got a 30ml bottle of Cernunnos. I will be ordering two more.
The more I get into the review the more I want this! Desperately trying to exercise restraint and not just blind buy it 😂 Appreciate both your thoughts on this , I'm not all that familiar with ensar.
I blind bought from Areej Le Doré and it was weird: at first, it just seemed "nice" but it grew on me so much, now it's the best scent in my collection.
@@Gersberms is it really or have you just kidded yourself into liking it? One way to test that is would you wear it outside when socialising with others?
@@o2xb This was about Walimah attar. Yes, I would wear it in public on a special occasion. The attar starts off super floral and not masculine, but it's absolutely beautiful and develops into a more warm-sweet-musky, super complex scent on the skin. I do think this is something you wear for your own enjoyment, like oud. It takes time to appreciate the complexity. Compare it to coca-cola and a dry champagne: coca-cola has sugar, vanilla, and intense mass appeal. Dry champagne isn't sweet, but once you get the hang of it, it may be the best thing you ever tasted. I also bought Baikal Gris attar and I'm having a harder time liking it - but I appreciate what he's made, it's complex and deep, woody and mossy. It's more of an inspirational composition than a perfume per sé. Walimah is definitely a perfume.
Gersberms aagh sounds wonderful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I have heard great things about Walimah attar too although many have said it's feminine.
Sultan leather is amazing. I have a few attars and ouds the whole line is banging. My picks are tigerwood 90, wang Liao kuo, American oud, Chiem po qi.
Areej le Dore comes out with "War and Peace" (similar name of the Russian novel by Leo Tolstoy), and now Ensar Oud comes out with "Crime and Punishment" (similar name of the Russian novel by Fedor Dostoyevsky). Do I sense a marketing battle here?
Well in a video of ensar he had mentioned that a particular perfume would be worn by a character from War and Peace, a few months after Russian Adam came up with a perfume of that name. May be a coincidence because it is a rather famous piece of literature
How does this compare with Bortnikoff's Musk Khabib? I know they have differences in strength but how does the scents compare / diverge? I have the 9.5mm PP version of this and EO1 but havent even tried EO1. I really really like the Crime and Punishment, but am unsure if I really understand or appreciate the expanse of this scent. I was afraid I would be overwhelmed by all the ingredients and that my wife would make me stand outside until I stopped smelling like funky wood that was 'rubbed on' by a deer who happened to have a roll in some raspberries and ginger just before the oud grabbed his attention...How did you like the Khus d’Afrique? I have my eye on that one and the Khus Exclusive, oh and Aroha d’Afrique...damnit, Thai Tabac. sigh. I have too much fun over on his site and then his TH-cam Channel. Awesome review.
I was dreading this review since I had vowed not to get anything from the brand given the "attack" you mentionned. It had left a sour taste in my mouth. Now I have a big moral dilemma since you give it such high praises 🤣 I love your reviews guys, stay safe and sending some of the extra sunshine/warmth we have here in Cairo.
So I finally got my 30 mls bottle of the Pure Perfume (the edp is no longer available apparently)... It is such a weird scent: it starts VERY spicy on me with a slight camphorous vibe (that I don't like tbh) but the camphor goes away in about 5 to 10 mins. Then the musk kicks in and I get a slight scent of soil in it. Is my nose playing tricks ? Because I am not getting any sweet notes at all. For me it is more of a spicy musky scent, have you gotten your noses on the pure perfume version of it?
Nice review! Have you guys tried iris ghalia? It's been compared to l'heure bleue (with some saying Ensar has elevated it) and with you 2 being such Guerlain lovers thought it maybe one for you.
Im an oud wood, tom ford addict, I know theres probably no comparison but I find it very versatile, if I asked you to make a comparison what would you honestly say.
I blind bought a 30ml of the parfum. Well, that's really the only way to buy it since no one is selling samples. So far I'm enjoying it, but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the resemblance (to my novice nose) to.....T-rex by Zoologist. I'm sure that sounds crazy but the second I smelled it it reminded me of T-rex. I know that the difference in quality of ingredients is huge, and that they don't even share many of the same notes, but it really does smell similar to me. A few hours in it seems to really change things up and the resemblance is done at that point, but for the first couple of hours it is very similar (to me). Maybe I just need to give it more time. I feel very embarrassed writing this but there's gotta be at least a little bit of a legitimate reason for this similarity I'm getting.
Wow, I really don’t get that at all. I haven’t work t-rex for quite a while, so I’ll revisit it to see if I get any similarities. Sometimes I am reminded of another fragrance by a fragrance which shares no familiar notes, but has a similar feel, so whilst I don’t really get the comparison you mention, I can see how this association might come about.
Hi Guys, great review.! BTW got a great cheapie called ‘Patrick’ by niche fragrance house, Fragrances of Ireland. It’s harkens back to the classical green fougere styles from the 70s, similar to the old Paco Rabanne pour homme. Comes in nice packaging too! Well worth checking out!
