I mean, it's Konami who published this game, so they probably underfunded Behaviour Interactive.
And while this game is rather flawed, it's crazy to think the same developers did Dante's Inferno.

Oh god I remember this game from my childhood, it literally took me 1 year to beat, my parents had to download and print out a guide from the internet it was like 30 pages long. Now I want to play it again, thanks Kevin, for making me want to torture myself with it again.
So... lol.. I’m 33 years old.. and I STILL HAVE my printed out walkthrough for this when it first came out.. I kept a folder full of walkthroughs I’ve printed out and some are 20+ years old, and this, sigh, is one of them...

My favourite things about this game were controlling Max and the fact that the Grinch takes damage from the music in the speakers and physical contact from children. I relate. I too take damage from Christmas music and children

I loved this game so much as a kid, oh my god!!! I tried to play it again recently but the disk was scratched, so it froze up a lot and the music in the dump became the soundtrack of my nightmares with how much it stuttered

I remember this game. I was so young when I played it I never figured out how to get past the first level. PS1 games from my early childhood have this almost dream-like quality where I barely remember them and that combined with the shifting textures and low-poly models of the PS1 makes it like a fever dream.

I LOVED this game as a kid, still do. I went back to it recently for nostalgia and some sections later in the game I spent hours getting past, even as an adult.

I believe it's a perfect storm of what's happening on screen, what the boy says, how he says it, the fact he was cut off by a belly bop, knock square on his butt, and what Kev says as he runs away but 7:32-7:35 nearly killed me when I first experienced it.
